Comment: There has to be some explanation for those writers being fired. Hell, "House of Payne" is one of his worst outings yet; they shoulda been fired months ago if that was the case. But not to have benefits, etc., that's some sweatshop shyt and Tyler ought/should know better and come better than that. I await to hear his side of the story.

Comment: His movies are great but House of Payne is garbage.

Comment: That complex is not "near" Atlanta, it's IN Atlanta, by Greenbriar, southwest Atlanta, so that 's weird phraseology EUR. I don't think I've ever watched a full episode of House of Payne but I don't find it doubtful that the writing was horrific. In truth, I don't find any of Perry's movies to be top-shelf in the writing dept, so it's not beyond belief that the show would reflect the same.

Comment: Alot of new sitcoms start out slow but, I think the show has picked up some. I still say at least Tyler is doing something to employ Black actor's and have his Black owned movie studio, we need to support him in doing so. If the writers were fired because they wanted benefits yes that was wrong, but if they were fired for bad writing they can show some of the beginning house of Payne episodes as proof of the bad writing if this goes to court. What ever happens I wish Tyler peace and blessing for doing what he needs to do to have his own 40 acres and a mule.

Comment: TGEN>Thank you, TGEN. i agree with you 1001 percent. to be honest, i'm not a fan of TP period. his movies are passable, but as far as the rest of his stuff? no. and yeah, his studio is in the ATL. SW ATL to be exact. his studio is behind Rev Mortons church in greenbrier that used to be the old DELTA airlines training facility.

Comment: MSGEE>now eventhough i'm not a fan of TP i agree with you on that issue of him employing struggling black actors but geez, give them some benifits too. they got bills and familes to take care of.

Comment: I think EUR missed the bigger point. This is big news because love him or hate him, he is the African American owner of a major film and television studio. Who else has that?

Comment: Ylawd, yep, that's why Oprah was crying.

Comment: kudos to TP on the opening of his studio. But, he knows the writers deserve benefits just like the actors and crew. There is no reason for them NOT to have benefits. And the reason given for their firing, sounds a little suspect to me because the writing of that show blows. Hopefully, the writers who come onboard don't sign contracts UNLESS they are guaranteed benefits like everyone else.

Comment: Wow! Workers DESERVE this or that? Y'all must NOT be business owners. That's the problem with this country today: ENTITLEMENT! From the top to the bottom. Tyler is NOT ENTITLED to provide health insurance for these writers. I think it depends on the industry one works in that determines such things, like UNIONS. (I grew up in Detroit and I've seen union stuff first-hand). That's why places like Wal-Mart suppress any type of union activity because it costs companies money and partly why the US auto industry is tanking/HAS TANKED. But I digress.... If these writers want health insurance, then they should find a job that OFFERS HEALTH INSURANCE/BENEFITS. And on the flip side, if TP wants QUALITY WRITERS in his studio, then he probably needs to start including BENEFITS IN HIS CONTRACTS.

Comment: How in the he*l does any company at that caliber not offer health insurance to its employees? Unless they are employed as independent contractors, the writers should be receiving health benefits. I agree, the tv show is the absolute worst--I know he can do better. Wouldn't it be great to see an actress on the caliber of Diahann Carroll on a weekly show? Also, get rid of those smart-mouthed kids. I see no point in perpetuating bad behavior. Mr. Perry does a good job, but he like most tv producer/directors have a long way to go.
