Comment: Hollaaaaaaaaah! This is what's necessary for YT to stop the B.S.!...OTHER Whites HAVE TO stand up & speak out & make the racists feel out numbered, out dated &....out of their fukkin minds!! YT can only hear, respect, except the legitimacy of things from OTHER White people! (e.i. that scene in "A Time To Kill", when Sam Jackson said to Mathew Mc Conahey...."you have to make them SEE me"!) And the ONLY way they did?...was to imagine themselves going through what HE went through "FROM MATT"!!! The humanity to care or identify wasn't there otherwise! So, maybe?, more of these "out in the open" statements will be made, so that YT can finally "man up/GROW up", stop being so G.D.insecure & finally....."let the dumb shyt go"!!!! One!

As we near the finish line, it becomes clearer and more apparent we need Barack Obama, God's hand is a mighty hand and guess what, that's who's been guiding this ship and trust when I tell you, no amount of man's bullshyt can come up against His power and his wrath. Palin's comments this weekend is about to blow up in her and McCain's face. Watch God rock.

Comment: Gallup now has Obama by only 7 points over McCain, but racial factors will cause the numbers to continue to drift in McCain’s favor as we get closer to election. Most Americans blame the Republicans for the financial crisis, but if they knew that not only did Bush administration officials knew about the impending crisis, but were also the architect, there would be more outrage. Obama could therefore seal the deal by revealing these specifics. 60 Minutes and the NY Times article “Agency’s ’04 Rule Let Banks Pile Up New Debt” revealed the devil in the details. “..decisions made at a brief meeting on April 28, 2004, … On that bright spring afternoon, the five members of the Securities and Exchange Commission met in a basement hearing room to consider an urgent plea by the big investment banks. They wanted an exemption for their brokerage units from an old regulation that limited the amount of debt they could take on. The exemption would unshackle billions of dollars held in reserve as a cushion against losses on their investments. The five investment banks led the charge, including Goldman Sachs, which was headed by Henry M. Paulson Jr. Two years later, he left to become Treasury secretary (audio of SEC meeting: http://graphics8.nytimes.com/packages/audio/national/2 0081003_SEC_AUDIO/SEC_Open_Meeting_04282004.mp3)….The 2004 decision for the first time gave the S.E.C. a window on the banks’ increasingly risky investments in mortgage-related securities. But the agency never took true advantage of that part of the bargain. The supervisory program under Mr. Cox, who arrived at the agency a year later, was a low priority. The commission assigned seven people to examine the parent companies. Since March 2007, the office has not had a director. And as of last month, the office had not completed a single inspection since it was reshuffled by Mr. Cox more than a year and a half ago.” That’s the guy McCain said should be fired. Now if Obama would use the debates and ads to squarely pin this on the Republicans with the specific details, it would be over. http://www.nytimes.com/2008/10/03/business/03sec.html? pagewanted=1&_r=2&sq=paulson%20Goldman%20Sachs&st=cse& scp=1

Comment: Reds, I think the BO camp will reveal things like that, I read that they're coming out with the Keating 5 thing. I'm concerned though that the Keating 5 thing is not "soundbit-ish" enough and will not effectively counter Moose's lies about him "palling around with terrorists." To their credit, the BO camp has tried to preempt the McCain's camp coming smears this week, but imo they're going to have to do a little better than "McCain camp stoops low again." So looks like the 527's will have to bring the heat for the BO camp instead. I SOOO hope they're on it! An aside: Another thing that concerns me is the debate tomorrow night. It seems like a perfect storm for an upset, it's in Tennessee (Belomont is a great school and Nashville is a great town, but the rest of the state is racist as can be so I'm sure some of the rednecks will sneak in and ask an "Ayers"-type question at the Town Hall *sigh*), it's being hosted by anti-Obama Tom Brokaw who I doubt will regulate the quality of the questions asked, Cain LOVES town halls for some reason, and it comes off the heels of Moose's reinserting Ayers et al. So the ingredients of a possible disaster are there. I just hope BO is on his A-game and can effectively thwart it. So Reds I agree with you that there are signs of concern, but I feel that if BO can dominate this next debate, he's good for the home stretch. *Crossing fingers*

Comment: TGen: “I'm concerned though that the Keating 5 thing is not "soundbit-ish" enough and will not effectively counter Moose's lies about him "palling around with terrorists." ….Well, maybe he could use McCain’s racists and Anti-Semitic associations. This came up on Meet the press yesterday. “ MR. BEGALA: …And, and I think Governor Palin here is making a strategic mistake. This guilt by association path is going to be trouble ultimately for the McCain campaign. You know, you can go back—…. But John McCain sat on the board of a very right-wing organization. It was the U.S. Council for World Freedom. It was chaired by a guy named John Singlaub, who wound up involved in the Iran-Contra scandal. It was an ultraconservative right-wing group. The Anti-Defamation League, in 1981, when McCain was on the board, said this about this organization. It was affiliated with the World Anti-Communist League, the parent organization, which ADL said, “has increasingly become a gathering place, a forum, a point of contact for extremists, racists and Anti-Semites.” Now, that’s not John McCain. I don’t think he is that. But, but, you know, the problem is that a lot of people know John McCain’s record better than Governor Palin, and he does not want to play guilt by association or this thing could blow up in his face.” http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/27034205/page/2/

Comment: I have faith in God and in Obama to do what he needs to do. He knew he would get the same attacks he got in the primary elections. He knew it and even alluded to it awhile ago. He will be prepared for the debate. I am not worried. Really all he has to do is bring up healthcare because that scares people. Sh*t, it scares me too! Commercials about McCain's healthcare plan are in heavy rotation here in the MD/DC/VA area. I hope that's true for the entire country. Even with Brokaw, all he has to do is stick to the issues everyone is worried about - the economy/healthcare - and he'll be fine. And he needs to continue to focus on McCain and how his voting was 90% in line with G Dubya. McCain's plans are so flawed that all Obama has to do is keep the focus on what he will do and how it will benefit everyone over McCain's plans. Go Obama! >Musb - I'm already sewing my leopard print trench coat so it'll be ready for Obama's innauguration parade!

They had a ruling that they could continue the probe and that state employees would be testifying. That's good news that will distract her hopefully. As for her comments, well, they need to hammer her with her being part of a group that wanted Alaska to secede from the U.S. - that's what I would counter her claims with.

And I love how Biden handled her in the debate the other day. Did anybody see the SNL spoof of the debate the other day? It was HILARIOUS! Comment: Reds, THANK YOU for reminding me of that! I had forgotten about that, but that was HUGE. I was SO proud of Begala when he unleashed that new info on McCain's azzociation with racists and anti-Semites. That was brutiful, lol. I think it's more than apparent how BCinton won twice, he had some no-holds-barred pitbulls working for him. If the BO camp is smart, they'll use that jewel Begala just dropped in their laps, if need be. They can also effectively silence Moose by highlighting that she quoted a well-known anti-Semite in her nomination speech, another jewel given to them by RFK's son. He wrote about it on Huffington, so it's not hard to find. They have the guns if they ever feel the need to put this thing away once and for all. We'll see... P.S. Another good way (unrelated) is to call for a drawback of that bailout plan. It was a bad idea, obviously, looking at the world markets. Whatever candidate is willing to say so first, will make a huge dent in the polls cuz most Americans hated that bill. Just a thought...

Comment: Queeniebunz: “As for her comments, well, they need to hammer her with her being part of a group that wanted Alaska to secede from the U.S. - that's what I would counter her claims with.” ….This is a perfect example of why Obama is still not able to put away McCain. The McCain camp has used every chance to question Obama’s patriotism, even when it is so trivial that even the McCain supporters don’t get it. But all you need to say is that the guy is not patriotic and it will have an effect on illiterate voters. Obama’s attitude is to take the “high road”, but there is a way to respond without going down to McCain’s level. Just reference what they did, also. Example, ‘my patriotism as been questioned for so and so, so what about Governor Palin’s support for a secession organization.’ Another example, ‘I’m chastised for my circumstantial association with alleged terrorists, so how about senator McCain’s past associations with the U.S. Council for World Freedom, an extremists, racists and Anti-Semite group.” What’s low road about doing this?... “I'm already sewing my leopard print trench coat so it'll be ready for Obama's innauguration parade!”… More power to you, I’m having a more and more sinking feeling about this as days go by…. “Musb...if what you heard about Obama playing hardball is true, I say it's about damn time. Let him bring this ISHT home Chicago style.” ….I’ve been hearing that for far too long, so I’ll only buy into it when I see it with my own two eyes.

John McCain and Barack Obama somehow ended up at the same barbershop.
As they sat there, each being worked on by a different barber, not a word was spoken.
The 2 barbers were even afraid to start a conversation, for fear it would turn to politics.
As the barbers finished their shaves, the one who had McCain in his chair reached for the after shave.
McCain was quick to stop him saying,
'No thanks, my wife Cindy will smell that and think I've been in a whorehouse.'
The second barber turned to Obama and said, 'How about you?'
Obama replied, 'Go ahead, my wife doesn't know what the inside of a whorehouse smells like.'

Stuff like the 60 Minutes piece on credit swaps and the recklessness of bank officials and the Bush administration are reverberating throughout the market. But a lot of the average joe still doesn’t get it, they just see the effect. If they also get wise to the situation, then the possibility of another Republican administration would scare the day light out of them. That’s what we need the ads for, to break it down to their level. Analysts in the media use jargons that are out of their reach. Comment: Oct. 6 (Bloomberg) -- Barack Obama, after attacks on his character and past associations, is hitting back by highlighting John McCain's ties to the ``Keating Five'' savings-and-loan scandal that embroiled the Republican presidential nominee in the 1980s.
Email:
ZIP / Postal Code:
David Plouffe, Obama's campaign manager, e-mailed millions of supporters on Oct. 5 directing them to a new Web site, keatingeconomics.com, dedicated to McCain's ties to the scandal. It features a 30-second Web advertisement and beginning at noon Washington time the site will also host a 13-minute documentary called ``Keating Economics: John McCain and the Making of a Financial Crisis'' produced by the campaign.
``The McCain campaign has tried to avoid talking about the scandal, but with so many parallels to the current crisis, McCain's Keating history is relevant and voters deserve to know the facts -- and see for themselves the pattern of poor judgment by John McCain,'' Plouffe wrote.

Comment: With less than a month before election day and Obama's poll numbers rising amid the financial meltdown, the Democratic presidential candidate is hoping to link McCain's approach to the current financial crisis with his role in the savings-and-loan crisis of the late 1980s. The attacks come as McCain's campaign said last week it would divert attention from the economy to focus on Obama's character.
Associations Questioned
Over the weekend, McCain's running mate, Alaska Governor Sarah Palin, repeatedly linked the Democratic presidential candidate with a domestic terrorist group from the 1970s, telling supporters Obama used to ``pal around with terrorists who targeted their own country,'' a reference to his acquaintance with Bill Ayers, a former member of the Weather Underground group that carried out a series of bombings in the early 1970s. Obama served on a charity board with Ayers and has denounced the bombings.
Obama ``is someone who sees America as imperfect enough to pal around with terrorists who targeted their own country,'' Palin, 44, told donors at a fundraiser Oct. 4 in Costa Mesa, California. ``This, ladies and gentleman, is not the kind of change that I think we should be believing in.''
McCain adviser Greg Strimple said last week that they were ``looking for a very aggressive last 30 days.''
``We're looking to turning the page on this financial crisis and getting back to discussing Mr. Obama's liberal, aggressively liberal, record and how he will be too risky for the Americans,'' Strimple told reporters on an Oct. 2 conference call.
Potentially Risky Strategy

Comment: The strategy of invoking the Keating Five scandal may prove risky, as Obama's candidacy has been built around a message of hope with the promise of a different kind of politics. Just yesterday, in response to Palin's attacks, Obama said he would ``keep on talking about the issues that matter,'' pledging to focus on the economy, health care, education and energy.
Still, Obama's advisers say McCain was the first to launch guilt-by-association attacks, and because of the relevance of the Keating Five to today's financial crisis, such attacks cut sharply against the Republican presidential candidate.
``The Keating Five involved all the things that have brought the modern crisis,'' William Black, a former deputy director of the Federal Savings and Loan Insurance Corp., says in the video. ``Senator McCain has not learned the lessons and has continued to follow policies that are going to produce a disaster.''
McCain Campaign Response
The McCain campaign responded by calling Obama dishonest.
``The difference here is clear: John McCain has been open and honest about the Keating matter, and even the Democratic special counsel in charge recommended that Senator McCain be completely exonerated,'' McCain spokesman Brian Rogers said. ``By contrast, Barack Obama has been fundamentally dishonest about his friendship and work with the unrepentant terrorist William Ayers, whose radical group bombed the Pentagon and the U.S. Capitol.''
Obama has opened up a lead over McCain, 72, in the aftermath of their first debate Sept. 26 as the economy deteriorates.
Earlier in September, a Bloomberg/Los Angeles Times poll showed more respondents said Obama would do a better job handling the financial crisis than McCain, and almost half said they believed Obama had better ideas to strengthen the economy than his rival.
During his first Senate term, Arizona senator McCain and four Democrats faced accusations of improperly intervening with federal regulators on behalf of former savings-and-loan executive Charles Keating in the 1980s savings-and-loan industry collapse. The five senators took contributions from the Arizona businessman and while the Senate Ethics Committee reprimanded McCain, it cleared him of wrongdoing.
Ethics Committee Finding

Comment: The Senate Ethics Committee, chaired by the late Alabama Democrat Howell Heflin, ultimately found that McCain had ``exercised poor judgment.'' Since then McCain has worked to reach across the aisle on legislation to strengthen ethics rules and on other issues such as immigration, where he formed an alliance with Massachusetts Democratic Senator Edward M. Kennedy.
``The point of the film and the Web site is that John McCain still hasn't learned his lesson,'' Plouffe wrote. ``And this time, McCain's bankrupt economic philosophy has put our economy at the brink of collapse and put millions of Americans at risk of losing their homes.''
While this is the first time Obama's campaign has brought up the Keating Five scandal, Obama was asked about it at a May 10 press conference in South Bend, Oregon.
Obama said he had been asked about ``a whole host of issues and associations that were a lot more flimsy than John McCain's relationship to Keating Five and what I have said is that I cannot quarrel with the American people wanting to know more about that.''

“USA Today reports Democrats have added more than 800,000 voters in the eight most competitive states: Florida, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Colorado, Iowa, Nevada, New Mexico and New Hampshire. Republicans are said to have lost 300,000 voters in those states. According to the Washington Post, the ratio of new Democratic to Republican voters in Florida is more than two to one; in Colorado and Nevada, four to one; and in North Carolina, six to one.” http://www.democracynow.org/2008/10/6/headlines#8

There was an author on the Today Show last week who flat out said that he completely believes race will be the deciding factor - can white people see past Obama's color to vote for the correct person? That was what they said. I have seen this topic mentioned all over the place. I'm confused that you would even say it. It's even on message boards, the Jon Stewart Show, Chris Matthews "Hard Ball" etc. *scratching head*

Comment: From The Nation "Executive Orders (EOs) are legally binding orders given by the President, acting as the head of the Executive Branch, to Federal Administrative Agencies. Executive Orders are generally used to direct federal agencies and officials in their execution of congressionally established laws or policies. However, in many instances they have been used to guide agencies in directions contrary to congressional intent.
***Executive Orders do not require Congressional approval to take effect but they have the same legal weight as laws passed by Congress.*** The President's source of authority to issue Executive Orders can be found in the Article II, Section 1 of the Constitution which grants to the President the "executive Power." Section 3 of Article II further directs the President to "take Care that the Laws be faithfully executed." To implement or execute the laws of the land, Presidents give direction and guidance to Executive Branch agencies and departments, often in the form of Executive Orders.Executive Orders are controversial because they allow the President to make major decisions, even law, without the consent of Congress. This, of course, runs against the general logic of the Constitution -- that no one should have power to act unilaterally. Nevertheless, Congress often gives the President considerable leeway in implementing and administering federal law and programs. Sometimes, Congress cannot agree exactly how to implement a law or program. In effect, this leaves the decision to the federal agencies involved and the President that stands at their head. When Congress fails to spell out in detail how a law is to be executed, it leaves the door open for the President to provide those details in the form of Executive Orders."

Comment: At one point the Dow was down 770 points. Is America about to go under and take the rest of the world with it? No, not necessarily, just as it wasn’t the case with 9/11. But indicators that we are in deep trouble is despite all this, people are still flirting with the idea of putting back in office the same people who got us into this… well, we don’t even know what it is or how deep, because every week seems to bring a new crisis.

Comment: "If Congress does not like what the executive branch is doing, it has two main options. First, it may rewrite or amend a previous law, or spell it out in greater detail how the Executive Branch must act. Of course, the President has the right to veto the bill if he disagrees with it, so, in practice, a 2/3 majority if often required to override an Executive Order. Congress is less likely to challenge EOs that deal with foreign policy, national defense, or the implementation and negotiation of treaties, as these are powers granted largely to the President by the Constitution. As the Commander-in-Chief of the armed forces, the President is also considered the nation's "Chief Diplomat." In fact, given national security concerns, some defense or security related EOs (often called National Security Directives or Presidential Decision Directives) are not made public. In addition to congressional recourse, Executive Orders can be challenged in court, usually on the grounds that the Order deviates from "congressional intent" or exceeds the President's constitutional powers. In one such notable instance, President Harry Truman, was rebuked by the Supreme Court for overstepping the bounds of presidential authority. After World War II, Truman seized control of steel mills across the nation in an effort to settle labor disputes. In response to a challenge of this action, the Supreme Court ruled that the seizure was unconstitutional and exceeded presidential powers because neither the Constitution or any statute authorized the President to seize private businesses to settle labor disputes. For the most part, however, the Court has been fairly tolerant of wide range of executive actions. The ultimate criticism of Executive Orders is that the runaway use of EOs could result in a President becoming a virtual dictator, capable of making major policy decisions without any congressional or judicial input. The following web sites contain articles arguing against the liberal use of Executive Orders by the President"

Comment: ya'll mccain is coming and he;s coming HARD! Barack gonna have to take it to the streets. Mccain is downright insulting a new speech he is supposed to give today.
(CNN) — John McCain is slated to raise questions about Barack Obama's background and question the Illinois senator's truthfulness at a rally in Tennessee later Monday, one day before the two White House hopefuls square off at the second presidential debate.
The comments, which come hours after Republican VP candidate Sarah Palin publicly questioned Obama's patriotism while raising questions about his connections to onetime radical William Ayers, are among McCain's harshest language to date on the campaigning trail and signal the campaign is ratcheting its attacks on the Illinois senator with less than 30 days remaining until Election Day.
"I don’t need lessons about telling the truth to American people," McCain will say according to prepared text sent out by his campaign. "And were I ever to need any improvement in that regard, I probably wouldn’t seek advice from a Chicago politician."

Comment: "My opponent’s touchiness every time he is questioned about his record should make us only more concerned," McCain will also say. "For a guy who’s already authored two memoirs, he’s not exactly an open book. It’s as if somehow the usual rules don’t apply, and where other candidates have to explain themselves and their records, Senator Obama seems to think he is above all that."
The new language is part of the McCain campaign's effort to move away from the country's economic crisis as the primary narrative on the campaign trail, aides told CNN's Dana Bash earlier Monday. McCain, the aides say, will try to reframe the economic issue into an overall theme that Obama is still a virtual unknown, and is not the right person to steer the country through its current financial turmoil.
"All people want to know is: What has this man ever actually accomplished in government? What does he plan for America? In short: Who is the real Barack Obama?" McCain will say.
