Comment: Thank you Mo'Kelly for remembering my mother Viola Gregg Liuzzo. This election has been very emotional for my family. My sister's and I are planning a victory celebration tonight. This validates for us that our mother did not die in vain. We are staying optimistic that our new president will be Barack Obama!!!!!!

Comment: Amen to this post. I heard a young Black person call in to Neal Boortz' show the other day, saying, "I'm a Black woman and I'm not for Obama, I'm not with somebody trying to spread my wealth. My husband, who's a medical doctor, has drunk the kool-aid but not me. We work hard for our money and I'm just not with somebody trying to spread our wealth." I just shook my head. Clearly, she was educated but not very bright. You say, MoKelly: "Don’t miss this moment." It's a shame that some--not many--but some like that caller are sooo missing this momemnt. Their thinking is too small for this gigantic moment. Tavis Smiley comes to mind, pre-convention Bill Clinton comes to mind, and there are others--"good" people who missed the memo: this is not about you personally, it's about this country, it's about history. Drudge has a picture of an international newspaper with the headline: "America's Moment of Truth." Indeed.

Comment: Thank You MO!..Indeed my vote will be in rememberance of all my ancestors. Especially SoJourner Truth ( I was born on her birthday) who stood and declared 'Ain't I a Woman' in the face of slavery. To Ms. Fannie Lou who said she was "sick and tired of being sick and tired" in the face of racism at the democratic convention, in which she was not invited. So yes, my vote is for all of my people who laid down for me. My vote is for my father, Mr. Elder Townsend, who told us there would be a Blalck man in the white soon. I wish he were here to see it!..RIP dad.

Comment: Great piece, but Black folks need to vote everytime. Someone is dead so you can vote. Someone didn't make it back home. Children had to grow up without mothers and fathers. Parents never got to become grandparents. Siblings were torn from each other. All so we can make our voices heard! There is always some type of election every two years. Get off your %*$ this year, but remember to do every year.

Comment: Brother, Brother, Brother... you need to be standing behind a pulpit when you write stuff like this. It's the Gospel/Truth. Thank, Mo!

Comment: >> Mo great article. I'm happy yet disappointed that so many people have finally decided to vote for the first time during this election. Hopefully they and we will continue to understand that we are always standing on someones shoulders.

Comment: AMEN, AMEN AND AMEN! Mo, you're preaching to the choir, the usher board, deacons and the saints! But trust and believe, the "enemy", the ignorant and the just plain stupid are just waiting for "us" to make a mistake so they can point and say "I told you so". When Obama wins by a landslide, let's celebrate with the same dignity that he ran his campaign with.

Comment: Mo, kudos to you for mentioning the Black and white people who died to gain civil rights for all people in this country, for they were freedom fighters too. BTW, can't wait to see JCP's column this week. I'm hoping he'll crawl back under the rock from which he came and never post any of those opinionated, non-factual, vitrolistic hateful posts toward Black people (and diversity in general in this country) that he's so fond of doing.

Comment: MOK, Wonderful article. We share the same sentiments about voting. I vote in all elections because people died for my right to vote and I honor their sacrifice. I had never heard of Viola Liuzzo, so I found this site. http://www.geocities.com/gury4u/viola1.htm. Thank you for educating me and to the poster who says she is the daughter of Mrs. Liuzzo, God Bless you and your family.
