It appears that she transmits this vibe of the "Jack 'n Jill" Black debutante who'd do just about anything to win the crown. People in Ethiopia have great jokes about her concert there in Addis Ababa last year. African women pridefully frown on blonde wigs, blue-eyed contact lenses, white, dusty make-up and phoney eyelashes etc. because it sends the wrong message to their young people. Ethiopian women are proud of their "Natural Beauty" and have no respect for a "Drug Store Beauty Queen". Go to the Ethiopian Herald Newspaper and read the articles by columnist Tadesse Kibreab.

Usually, I adore all of our positive image stars in Africa-Ameria because I'm SSOOOOO concerned about our kids having positive role models so they can get a good education and make a difference and prosper. When I see "Drug Store Beauty Queen Floozies" with so much influence on our young and blurring the realities of their priorities (I wanna be shakin' my butt like Beyonce rather than studying to be a scientist or business leader!)it makes me shake my head and wonder if we'll EVER wake up. I don't mind wearing make up, in enhances my looks as it does many other women who wear make up, have fun with wigs (do the Africans you know dislike brown or black hair or red hair or just blonde because they have so much pride in not wearing make up, do they dislike kinky hair wigs) in different styles, wear contact to change their looks not be white. Beyonce is an entertainer and like ALL entertainers wears make up, lashes and whatever else makes them look good on stage and video, even the 'natural' sisters like Jill Scott and Angie Stone wear make up. I know you are super militant and proud of your strong, strong, black, black roots but the 60s are over, it's okay to wear straightened hair and still be down for the cause.
