Comment: Please.....so why did Mommie Dearest wait so long to sue her? Did it take her that long to read the book or get her story together for the courts? Whatever, it was an interesting read. Blacks need to stop acting like "it's all good in the 'hood"!!!!It's time to get back to strong family values and building strong family units again.

Comment: it was an interesting read indeed! I know people just like her. I actually witnessed one of my childhood friends being treated so badly, all the neighbors called authorities on her parents. I'm talking back in the day. She was removed from the home and went to live with a whole new family. She didn't want to live with any relatives. We kept in touch for over 40 years now. She is a successful Professional now, with homes in Canada, Maine, California and Arizona! When she walked out the door of her home from her abusive Parents, she never looked back! What was so crazy was they actually monitored her progress during the years, and once she made it big....they wanted to reconnect... She's moved on and never looked back! I applaud her strongness!

Comment: The mother answered her own question, she didn't tell because she no doubt believed no one would believe her. Connie Briscoe, if this is the same one I've read - has written some really good books - she has plenty of stories to tell so why tell one that would shame and embarras.s her mother when I'm sure the list of other stories had better to choose from. Briscoe prolly healed immensely telling her childhood tale and if it is true I hope her mother doesn't get a dime.
