I can see that black Christians could say that they are Republican because the Repubs tend to identify as being very religious and to have a platform to that effect - being pro-life and being against homosexual rights, etc. BUT then Repubs blow that by being pro-gun/pro death penalty/pro-war which completely violates the whole idea of "thou shalt not kill". In a nutshell, I see Repubs as total hypocrites and that's why I don't understand why blacks who identify w/the party don't get that. In addition to that, the Republicans have long been associated with racism and with a platform that completely leaves minorities out in the cold. And, there are people like Strom Thurmond and Trent Lott who supported segregation. And when blacks mistakenly associate the Republican party w/Lincoln they are misguided because the Republican party during that time was not the one now. There was a complete reversal when the Democratic Party changed and that's when the "Dixie-crats" switched to being Republican because they didn't like what was happening with civil rights and the Democrats became more liberal and the Republican became what they are now. Why a black person would support such a party - I just don't get it.
