Comment: Good Morning one and all. Y'all set a serious record yesterday on the board. Over 900. I'm still sitting here read. >Asize12, The same thing happen to me last year. Always feeling faint, my blood pressure would go up when I had those episode(as i call them). I had just about every test you could think of. Went to neurologist, pyschiatrist, and general practitioner. Had MRI, Blood test, Spinal tap,and anything else they could think of. First they said it was a nerve problem on my spine. Then the said I was crazy (well actually said I was having anxiety attacks). They wanted to put me on all kind of medication, but they couldn't pinpoint what was actually wrong. So I took matters into my own hands. I prayed then I refused their medication. My cousin told me to take vitamins and minerals. So once I started taking Vitamin E, B complex, potassium, Vitamin D with calcium, magnesium and zinc. I started feeling better and had no more dizzy spells. And no more elevated blood pressure. Thank God

Comment: A federal judge sentenced Chicago dentist Gary Kimmel to 37 months in federal prison today for laundering money for a prostitution ring.
Kimmel, who was arrested by the FBI in 2005 after being heard talking to pimps about their illegal dealings, had pleaded guilty last May.
He was accused of taking cash from pimps and buying them expensive cars. He also rented some of his nine apartments in the Marina Towers complex to the pimps for their prostitutes to do business in.
Kimmel's lawyer Joseph Lopez sought a lighter sentence, arguing the dentist was naïve and didn't understand at first he was doing business with pimps. Once he understood what was going on he was already mired in a financial mess with the ring.
But Assistant U.S. Atty Julie Ruder said Kimmel was a willing participant in a criminal enterprise that exploited women.
"Even if he didn't know it from day one, he knew it very early on," she said.
She pointed out that Kimmel did dental work on some of the prostitutes, including once replacing teeth knocked out by her pimp. In exchange for the dental work, the pimp gave Kimmel two hours of sexual services with another prostitute, which he in turn gave to an elderly friend, prosecutors said.
Defense lawyers argued at length during the sentencing hearing that prosecutors were seeking too long a sentence because they were counting the value of the luxury cars he bought with the pimp's money as "proceeds" he gained from the prostitution business. The defense argued that Kimmel was merely a pass-through and a front for the pimps and he didn't actually benefit from any of the money changing hands or the value of the vehicles.

Comment: TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- For Myron Rolle, the student part of being a student-athlete comes first.
Even on game day.
The Florida State safety will be a late arrival to the Seminoles' crucial game at No. 25 Maryland on Saturday night because earlier in the day he'll be interviewing in Alabama to become a Rhodes Scholar.
Myron Rolle hopes to become Florida State's second athlete, and third student, in three years to win a Rhodes Scholarship.
After a month of bad publicity for Florida State football because of player suspensions, and with the school also waiting to hear from the NCAA about penalties for an academic cheating scandal, the positive attention Rolle has brought the Seminoles couldn't come at a better time.
"In the midst of the troubles that have gone on here at Florida State academically, there are still student-athletes doing the right thing," Rolle said. "Possibly we can move that perception from being a school that's just focused on partying and athletics."
The 22-year-old aspiring neurosurgeon could become the school's second athlete, and third student, in three years to win a Rhodes Scholarship and the opportunity to study for two years at the University of Oxford in England. NCAA shot put champion Garrett Johnson of Tampa was one of 32 Americans to earn the scholarship three years ago.
It'll be quite a busy Saturday for Rolle. He's scheduled to finish his day in Birmingham, Ala., at roughly 6 p.m. (ET) before boarding a private plane to catch up with his teammates in College Park, Md., that starts at 7:45 p.m.
In a muddled Atlantic Coast Conference race, it's a huge game. Maryland (7-3, 4-2) can win the Atlantic Division by winning its remaining games. The Seminoles (7-3, 4-3) need two victories and some help to take the division title and earn a spot in the conference championship game on Dec. 6 in Tampa.
So being without Rolle, one of Florida State's best defensive players, is no small thing for coach Bobby Bowden. Still, the 79-year-old coach didn't hesitate to give Rolle his blessing.
"It's a no-brainer," Bowden said. "I know academics comes first."
Bowden has never coached a Rhodes Scholar during a career spanning six decades.
"I really don't know of anything higher than to have a player who is a recipient of a Rhodes scholarship," Bowden said Wednesday.
Whether he wins the scholarship, Rolle, a junior, has also talked about possibly entering the NFL draft early.
He could face a unique choice -- the NFL or Oxford.

Comment: Bowden said Rolle's game could use more schooling.
"He definitely needs to make more big plays," the coach said.
Rolle has started 36 straight games at safety since arriving at Florida State from New Jersey as one of the nation's most celebrated recruits.
He's been a dependable tackler, but he has only one interception in his career, and none the past two seasons.
In the class room, however, Rolle is has few weaknesses.
He's working on a master's degree in public administration after graduating earlier this year with a degree in exercise science and a 3.75 grade point average.
Rolle arrived at Florida State with quarterback Christian Ponder on the same day in January 2006 to begin class work a semester early. Both graduated in August, with Ponder earning a 3.71 in the university's business college.
"We were always comparing GPA's," Ponder said. "We've always been pretty competitive about it."
Although he'd like a crack at pro football, Rolle's long-term goal is to earn a medical degree and he's spent time on stem cell research at Florida State.
He's dreamed about the Rhodes possibility since Johnson, a friend and mentor to Rolle, was selected just a few months before Rolle arrived on campus.
He wrote a 1,000-word personal statement that he revised "about 17 or 18 times" and provided letters of recommendation from professors at Florida State and people in the community who have known him.

Comment: A jail spooge story.
BLOOMFIELD, Ind. (AP) ? Three male and three female inmates at a southern Indiana jail face charges that they devised a way to sneak between cell blocks to help pass their time behind bars by having sex.
The inmates figured out how to remove metal ceiling panels in the Greene County Jail and used the passageway more than a dozen times in September and October, according to court documents.
The men ? ages 44, 38 and 17 ? and the women ? ages 27, 26 and 21 ? crawled through the ceiling after midnight, having sexual encounters and drinking homemade alcohol that was found hidden in the male cell block, a police affidavit said.
One male inmate who was not charged said the female inmates would "hang-out, play cards or have sex with some of the male inmates" in their cell block, the affidavit said.
The inmates were able to find a security camera "blind spot" where they could remove ceiling tiles and create a passage between the cell blocks, Sheriff Terry Pierce said Tuesday.
The inmates used a shower drain as a tool to loosen security screws and the ceiling tiles were carefully replaced so they did not appear to be disturbed, Pierce said.
"We could not see it," he said.
The ceiling panels have since been secured, and Pierce said he was seeking funding to improve security at the jail, which was built in 1994 in the city about 25 miles southeast of Bloomington.
Pierce called the inmates' activities "embarrassing" to himself and his staff.
"If your facility has a flaw, if you house prisoners in it, they will show you. They will find it," he said. "We're going to have to find a way to have a better security system."
Prosecutors have filed felony escape charges against the six inmates, who were awaiting trial on a variety of charges. Five of the inmates remain in the Greene County Jail, while one has been transferred to the Monroe County Jail in Bloomington.
Pierce said the investigation is ongoing and other current or former jail inmates may be charged

Comment: Pamela Anderson must really want a position in Obama's cabinet, because she wrote an open letter to him on her blog stating all the things she thinks he should make happen when he officially becomes president.
Pam wants him to order the castration of all child molesters and she also wants him to legalize marijuana. The last part is the greatest thought that has ever come out of Pamela Anderson's head. Ever.
She wrote: "I think we should Legalize Marijuana, tax and monitor -farm Hemp etc-this would make our borders less corrupt and then I think eventually this will be more secure option and save children in the long run – we should be able to farm Hemp in America- it’s just silly— it would create jobs- and be good for environment."
Is Courtney Love working part-time as Pamela Anderson's transcriber? Anyway, I agree with the legalize part, but disagree about the tax %*$!. It should be tax free. It's a medical necessity for some of us! I also agree that it will save the children from listening to their parents scream at them. Think about it. When your kid starts acting all annoying and loud, just give them a LEGAL joint. It will calm them down, they'll fall asleep and you won't have to yell at them. Everyone will walk away happy. Pam is a genius!
She forgot to add one thing to her list of things Obama should do as president: BAN PAMELA ANDERSON!!!

Comment: JB-I don't want to scare you but a man running on the treadmill next to me, died from taking Xenadrine. He was 28 that was way back in 1998, from what I understand they have changed the ingredients since then. I use to take it but it had my heart running extra fast (that scared me) and also, it would make me stay up all night long. Even though I would loose weight, I had to give that shat up.

Comment: morning all... before we get to the spooge talk, here's some church for u:When you choose to believe in God and make him the center of your life, you make the decision to let him guide you. You are telling God that you want his dreams, desires, and goals for your life, not your own. It’s like handing over your dearest possessions and trusting that the person you give them to will make something even greater out of them than what they already are. But there is always the nagging worry, “What if he doesn’t do what I wanted with them?” And that is why faith can be terrifying.
Our culture tells people that faith is useless and that you should run after your dreams, even if it means stomping on others along the way. But God’s plans are better than we can possibly imagine. He promises that he will take our desires and make them into something far more valuable and beautiful than we can ever imagine. You may not always understand where he is leading you, but he promises that he will lovingly take care of you.
Psalm 32:8
The Lord says, “I will guide you along the best pathway for your life.
I will advise you and watch over you.

JB, please be careful w/ that xenadrine. i know u want to drop the pounds but that stuff is not regulated by the FDA, and that means there could be/is some very harmful stuff in it that will do more harm than good, and if that's the case, you'll have a hard time suing b/c it's not regulated....

Comment: CRENEE, in the southern end of US (im in TX) we call it dressing as we use it to "dress" the turkey. The turkey goes in thr center of the pan & the dressing is put around it. We don't "stuff" it inside the bird. Also, the primary ingredient is cornbread not sliced bread.
|
|
|
Name:

Comment: HoneyMack, i use cornbread and stuffing bread (unsliced bread) for my stuffing, and i don't stuff it into the turkey either, cuz that's just ewwww, i make it in a separate pan.... i guess what i make is dressing too LOL.

Comment: Creneej-I forgot to mention that we don't stuff the turkey, nor do we have a pretty dry turkey on the table to cut from. We cook the turkey, then we pull almost all the meat off to make the dressing. You put one layer of corn bread dressing in the pan, and then on top you put one layer of turkey meat, you repeat this, layer after layer, bake it, and pig out. I can't wait. My mom makes the best dressing, but I know she is going to try and make me cook everything this year. She worries the hair off of my head for chocolate pie, red velvet cake, and pecan pie. I am making an appointment to pay a visit to the SPA cause I know I am going to need it.LOL

Comment: WASHINGTON (AP) _ Verizon employees snuck a peek at President-elect Barack Obama's old cell phone records and will be reprimanded accordingly, the company said late Thursday.
Obama aides said no voicemails or e-mails were accessed.
In a statement, Verizon Wireless President and CEO Lowell McAdam apologized to Obama and disclosed the breach, saying: "a number of Verizon Wireless employees have, without authorization, accessed and viewed President-elect Barack Obama's personal cell phone account."
He said the account has been inactive for several months and Obama had been using a simple voice flip-phone without email capabilities.
"All employees who have accessed the account — whether authorized or not — have been put on immediate leave, with pay," McAdam said. "Employees with legitimate business needs for access will be returned to their positions, while employees who have accessed the account improperly and without legitimate business justification will face appropriate disciplinary action."

OK, the supervisors are not in the office today, and everyone is talking about the lack of profession behavior displayed by the director (who is not speaking to me since I have accepted the offer of another position). But, on a happier note, I have received phone calls from employees where the new position is located. They are very generous with their congrats and well wishes, and hav told me they can't wait for us to get together. On the other hand, tomorrow Ohio State plays Michigan. And I was tired like a mug from the "sets" but I loved being with my ls's and didn't know what to do w/ myself when it was over. I don't remember crying on line either. I just remember thinking...'What in the world did I get myself into?' I learned alot about myself.

Comment: Awe, y'all haven't had fried turkey? Its the best. Plus for about 12 pounds it only takes about 45 mins. I have an electric turkey fryer (cost less than $100 at Sam's)...I am afraid of the propane because I'm afraid of running out and having to switch tanks mid fry, so the electric one works well--plus you can use it safely in the garage. But, I before frying, I stuff the cavity with fresh rosemary, thyme, sage and poultry seasoning. I also grind some of those ingredients and with season salt, coat the entire bird. It is the best y'all! Since I started frying turkeys about 4 years ago, I have not baked on since. Hubby is allergic to peanuts, so i have to use safflour oil (which is expensive), but it is worth it for the effort and flavor. HIGHLY RECOMMEND you run out and buy a fryer TODAY! (Plus its great throughout the year for boiling corn, frying chicken, steaming lobster, etc.

Floyd Mayweather emptied two Louis Vuitton bags full of cash into the crowd at a packed Dreamz nightclub in Atlanta last night. The IRS estimates about $30,000 was thrown.
Tonight Mayweather plans to make it rain even more Benjamin Franklins when he joins Jermaine Dupri, Josh Smith of the Hawks, and Dallas Austin at Club Pure tonight.
I’m sure rainmakers Mayweather and JD will try to outdo each other tonight. As a matter of fact, I’ma put on my disguise so I can be in the house! An estimated $100K will be dropped tonight at Pure!
If you need your bills paid or just need some quick cash for Christmas shopping, you’d better get there early!
Club Pure is located at 2793 Clairmont Rd in Atlanta. Doors open at 9 PM. Call (404) 633-5020 for more info.

The former Ludlum Elementary School, in Long Island's Hempstead Union Free School District, was renamed at a school board meeting Thursday - effective immediately.
School officials say most of the 440 students there are black or Hispanic, and Obama's victory is a source of great pride.

Comment: Mayor Adrian M. Fenty signed an executive order yesterday suspending District regulations and allowing residents to rent their properties for the inauguration of President-elect Barack Obama without obtaining a business license. The move, which also suspends requirements for property inspections, will be in effect from Jan. 13 through 27. It is aimed at satisfying the record demand for housing from out-of-town visitors who plan to attend the Jan. 20 swearing-in ceremony and parade. Some city officials said it is the first time they can remember the licensing requirement being suspended. Officials have said they expect more people on the Mall than the record 1.2 million who attended Lyndon B. Johnson's inaugural. Hotels are mostly booked, and thousands of Washington area residents are offering their apartments and houses for thousands of dollars. This week, the city's Office of Tax and Revenue announced it will suspend a 14.5 percent sales tax on property rentals to transients for residents who want to rent their apartments or homes to out-of-towners for the inauguration. Fenty (D) said it would be virtually impossible to regulate the market in such a condensed period. "The government does not have the resources to go around and regulate all of the thousands of deals that are being negotiated," the mayor said at a news conference. District law requires landlords to obtain business licenses from the Department of Consumer and Regulatory Affairs. The licenses cost $130 to $303, depending on the number of units and the type of building or business. But requiring thousands of novices to file for such licenses, and obtain property inspections, would be burdensome and create confusion, officials said. Still, city officials and attorneys warned that both sides should be cautious when entering into an agreement and be as specific as possible about price, expectations, security deposits, length of stay and the condition of the rental unit. D.C. Attorney General Peter Nickles and regulatory chief Linda Argo said they would develop a sample contract and post it on the city's Web site, http://Dc.gov, for people to use as a template as they make rental deals. "Human nature being what it is, there's usually a misunderstanding," said Kenneth Loewinger, a lawyer who specializes in landlord-tenant issues. City officials said they will probably order the suspension of construction in the downtown core during inauguration week and create special zones for the many vendors expected on the Mall. Asked whether he was hosting any out-of-town inauguration-going guests at his home in Northwest, Fenty smiled. "Yes, but I'm not going to charge them," he said.

Comment: Shat like this pizzes me off. Why would you let a man watch your children who spent 7 years in jail for cruelty to children. Why do some Women put a Man before the health safety and welfare of her children? Why are you a grown azz man, beating on children? If you don't like children, why babysit or even date a woman with children? This whole thing just boils my blood....By Keith L. Alexander
Washington Post Staff Writer
Friday, November 21, 2008; Page B05A Northwest man was ordered held without bond yesterday in connection with the beating death of his girlfriend's toddler son Sunday.
Jonathan M. Austin, 33, was charged with first-degree cruelty to children in the death of Ronjai Butler, who was 20 months old.
Magistrate Judge Diana Harris-Epps of the D.C. Superior Court set a preliminary hearing for Dec. 3 before Judge Herbert Dixon.
According to police, Austin was babysitting Ronjai and Ronjai's 2 1/2 -year-old sister. A person returning to the apartment noticed that there were "green spots" on the baby's face, upper legs and stomach and that he was "minimally" responsive, according to police. The witness tried to revive the baby by splashing cold water on his face, but he was unresponsive. The baby's sister told one witness that Austin had hit the boy. Ronjai was rushed to Howard University Hospital, where he died.
An autopsy by Medical Examiner Marie-Lydie Y. Pierre-Louis showed a skull fracture, a lacerated liver, kidneys and spleen, anal tearing and numerous contusions. Pierre-Louis said the death was caused by multiple blunt-impact trauma with contusions and lacerations to internal organs. She ruled it a homicide.
In 1994, Austin, the father of four children, was charged with simple %*$ault and sentenced to 18 months of unsupervised probation. In 1999, he pleaded guilty to first-degree cruelty to children and spent seven years in prison until his release in 2006, according to court records. A source familiar with the case said a 6-month-old child Austin was caring for was burned with scalding water. He was on parole until 2014.
Austin was living with his girlfriend, the boy's mother, in her apartment in the 1200 block of North Capitol St. NW, according to court records.

Comment: Tax tips....
http://www.tacct.net/newsletters/YrEnd08/tips_news_yre nd08.pdf
The Stimulus Rebate payment that was issued by the Treasury Department earlier this year was actually an advance payment
of a new credit called the Recovery Rebate Credit on your 2008 tax return. This credit can be as much as $600 for single
taxpayers and $1,200 for joint return filers plus $300 for each qualifying child. Congress required the IRS to use a taxpayer’s
2007 tax return information to estimate the credit and issue the advance payment to stimulate the economy. This means that
the rebate amount will have to be accounted for on the taxpayer’s 2008 tax return with the following results:
• If the rebate amount was less than the credit computed on the taxpayer’s 2008 return, the additional amount will be
credited to the 2008 return.
• If the rebate amount was more than the credit computed on the taxpayer’s 2008 return, the difference will not have
to be repaid.
• If the taxpayer did not receive a rebate, he or she will receive the full amount of the credit on the 2008 return to the extent
that he or she qualifies for the credit.

Comment: (11-21) 12:14 PST Valentine, Neb. (AP) --
Authorities said they've arrested a suspect in the rash of so-called "Butt Bandit" vandalism cases. County Attorney Eric Scott said a 35-year-old man was arrested early Wednesday morning. Formal charges have not yet been filed. Some vandal had been skipping from one building to another at night, pressing his naked buttocks, groin or both on windows.
Store owners, church workers and school janitors have had to wash lotion and petroleum jelly off the windows he selects.
Local residents found some humor in the strange brand of graffiti and had dubbed the vandal the "Butt Bandit."
Valentine Police Chief Ben McBride called it "the weirdest case I've ever seen."

Comment: President-elect Barack Obama made a surprise visit to Manny's Deli on the South Side today and delighted a lunchtime crowd of clapping well-wishers.
He got three corned beef sandwiches, three potato pancakes and two slices of cherry pie to go and shook hands with diners -- as he and many other Chicago politicians have over the years.
Asked what he ordered, Obama answered, "We got the corned beef."
Asked about the auto industry, Obama smiled and repeated, "We got the corned beef."
Obama paid $48.34 cash and left.
Obama had left his Hyde Park home in his motorcade around 7:30 a.m. today for his morning workout.
For those of you not from Chicago, Manny's corned beef is the TRUTH. I refuse to eat anyone else's corned beef except for theirs.

Comment: ESSENCE.COM: (Laughs) Somehow it's always the one you'd least expect that will knuckle up. Seriously, it is a shock to learn that you can kick butt because there have been rumors that you were allegedly in an abusive marriage with your ex-husband and New Jack Swing artist Keith Sweat. Is that true?
HARTWELL: I'll just say it was a very tumultuous relationship. I was very young and impressionable-20-when I married him. So it was a difficult marriage but it made me stronger and wiser. When you're young and impressionable, you have to know who you are and love yourself, so you don't accept anything less than love and respect. I don't believe that I didn't love myself, but I lacked confidence. Once you have confidence and your own identity, no one can tell you who you are. When you're in love, you take more than you normally would and it doesn't have to be physical or verbal. When you're independent and know who you are, that isn't ever a problem. A lot of people tolerate relationships that aren't necessarily good for them because they are dependent upon their partner. It's so important for every woman to have independence.
ESSENCE.COM: Everyone should know thy self. The blogosphere has criticized you and accused you of not being a good mom because you don't have custody of your kids. How does that make you feel?
HARTWELL: Throughout the custody case, everyone who testified said I was a great mother and that I even treated his daughters like my own. I was a housewife and mother in every sense of those words. Until this day I still can't believe I lost custody because they were convinced that because I was an aspiring actress and Keith [Sweat] was more stable and settled in his career than I was. So because I'm a working mother that means I'm a bad parent? I still don't get it. It was an unfortunate ruling that was handed to me. It was devastating and if it can happen to me it can happen to Mary Poppins, because there was no [behavioral] misconduct on my part. I've never done drugs, I don't party and I helped raise his kids. How do you take my kids when I'm raising yours? I believe quality is more than quantity. Three days out of the week, I am at my sons' football practice. I'm the only one they see because I'm hands-on with them. Was I done wrong? Absolutely. Do I think justice wasn't served? Absolutely. I'm hopeful that one day soon that will change.

Comment: Madelyne Woods was a cable television personality on BET throughout the 1990s. She completed graduate school at Howard University in Washington, D.C. in 1990. [1]
Not long after joining BET, she was anchoring the "BET Newsbriefs", one minute news updates that aired during program breaks. Over the span of her career at BET, she was assigned to various news / interview shows, including the opportunity to host Video LP as Sherry Carter transitioned into hosting Video Soul, the flagship prime-time entertainment program for the network.[2]
Although not specifically tied to any rap-formatted show on BET, Woods maintained popularity within the Hip hop community, and was immortalized in the Tribe Called Quest song, Electric Relaxation:
"Not to come across as a thug or a hood, But hon, you got the goods, like Madelyne Woods"[citation needed]
Her career took an unfortunate turn when she became the victim of a carjacking while running errands in D.C. She was off the air for more than six weeks as she recovered from the injuries from the incident. She eventually returned to work[3]. Woods is no longer affiliated with BET.

Comment: DJ> That you tube was of Madelyne Woods. I read in a book about Bob Johnson and BET that the carjackers beat her so bad her teeth were impacted in her gums and she had to have some reconstructive surgery. the folks at BET rallied around her and took care of her while she was out in recovery. She lives in Orlando now and is coincidentally married to a cosmetic surgeon. They have 2 kids.......

Comment: Naw y'all, I whipped out some OLD OLD OLD school shat and have been rocking it here of late. Taking you back to 1980 and the Invisible Man's Band - All Night Thing. One, two, three...
Waiting on the dance,
To get started.
Hollywood stands, it's jammed down
Hoo cha!
It's a party now.
I wanna dance,
I wanna dance,
Everybody wanna dance,
Move those bodies around
While the music spins,
Get down, get down, get down.
Get...
[Chorus:]
It's gonna be an all night thing.
It's gonna be an all night thing.
Baby, it's an all night thing.
It's gonna be an all night thing.

Madonna rocked the mid to late 80's...and my favorite Sting song is "It's Probably Me" which was featured on the Lethal Weapon soundtrack. That record just speaks to me...and what about Expose, y'all? "Come Go With Me" was the lick! And ain't nobody said nuffin' about Nu Shooz!!! "I Can't Wait!" Or if y'all have some bumpin' festival, concert or something, I'm down. I want to go to the Napa Valley again. Note and I had a ball there, we spent the whole day "tasting" at one winery after another! My favorite was V. Suttui (sp?).

There's always a festival, concert or something. We'll figure something out. As far as your note to Be on Alumnae chapter pledging out here, let's just say that I believe that your Sorors on your end of the country are more inspired and open. She'll probably have a better chance than I. I shall leave it at that.
