Comment: Yes get that money y'all!!! That right get it get it!!! Ain't mad at em' at all. I love to see my people on top of the world and these people do have a track record of giving back. If you can't celebrate nobody else sucess how u going to celebrate your own prosperity. Quit all the fussing children and get your grind on. Too much out there to be poutin and being crabby.

Comment: Who gives a fuvk??

Comment: They're not worth $162 million...they CLOCKED $162 million in ONE YEAR! I'm sure alot of us are bitter at their success or gluttony but I'm sure they could care less...even in these economic hard times people will find a way to contribute to Beyonce and Jigga's stash.

Name: musbdherbs
Comment: lol..as usual..this well-situated black duo is laughing themselves all the way to the bank. Black Power...gotta love it...well at least some of us...

Comment: I am happy for them, but I just don't understand why THIS is the lead story today. Who REALLY gives a shyt??

Name: fuzzygoss
Comment: So now they both can put the framed magazine ranking list in a platinum case and ogle it and toast champagne and celebrate daily because they are not doing much in a way of humanitarian work.

Comment: In the wake of the recession, do we really need to know this? And who cares.

Name: Renetta
Comment: I'm glad they beat out Wil and Jada - I'm sooooo sick of them.

Name: GingerBronze
Comment: I must admit I am impressed. They outdid Brangelina? Between the both of them, I understand they own several businesses. Anyone who is an entrepreneur, business owner or have business interests should REALLY take note of this. And, they're young, too. Great job, BeyonJay!

Name: Southernbelle
Comment: Damnnn, that's a lot of dough!! Make that money Bey and Jay. I can't wait for 1/4/09 so ya'll can spread the wealth LOL.

Name: huey
Comment: Southernbelle ---if they didnt "spread the wealth in 1/4/08, what in the sam dickens makes u think they gonna spread it in 1/4/09??

Name: katgrrrl
Comment: Well good for them, but I'd rather it were moi, of course. Huey, I can't tell anyone what to do with their dough, but I hope they ARE givni' somethin' back. That's a lotta blessings to keep to themselves.

Name: dakoolestkat
Comment: Someone commented earlier "why don't they give back?" Whose to say that they don't give back? Every donation they make probably wont be publicized. Furthermore, they probably do give back if for nothing more than tax write offs

Name: Southernbelle
Comment: @ huey, Through tax increase. Obama's gonna spread the wealth. This ain't no Joe the Plumber kind of money. The taxes they're gonna pay will build a bridge or two next year LOL.

Name: realuvbaby
Comment: You thought it was the holiday season, ehhhhhhhhhhNK!! Try Again! It's Beyonce Season!!! "UH OH"

Name: huey
Comment: Southernbelle --and that being said, u figure that should be the extent of their altruistic responsibilities? do tell?

Name: Gurlfrand
Comment: I glad for Bey and Jay - forget about the envious folks and like the late Eddie Kendricks used to sing "keep on truckin baby'"

Name: huey
Comment: dakoolestkat "why don't they give back?" Whose to say that they don't give back? Every donation they make probably wont be publicized. Furthermore, they probably do give back if for nothing more than tax write offs"....who's to say the DO give back? in addtion, tax write offs aint altruism, thats a responsibilty....and one other keyword u use is "probably"...probably aint putting nobody back in they forclosed homes...

Name: dakoolestkat
Comment: Huey retract the claws my brutha. I agree the keyword is "probably." So EVERY single time a celebrity makes a large donation is it "always" made public knowledge? Yes, it's socially responsible to give back..no argument there.

Name: Deb70
Comment: Yes, I'm jealous. That is crazy. And that's just for one friggin' year. The rich get richer. I've heard about Jay giving back, but I haven't read about Beyonce doing anything in the way of charity. I'm sure she does, but I haven't heard about it. Wait. She can help me; I'm a charity, spread some of that wealth over here.

Name: dakoolestkat
Comment: And when did it become Beyonce and Jay Z's job to "put people back in foreclosed homes?". It would take a collective effort by all the "rich", but how realistic is that?

Name: huey
Comment: dakoolestkat --point being, they dont necessary have to put people back in their previous homes....point being, do something...BIG...if they making big money then do big things, like brad and angelina down in the big easy, no pun intended, to whom much is given much is expected, if bouncy and jay z were doing big things it would make big news...no claws here bro, just poignent.

Name: Southernbelle
Comment: @ huey, I don't think my opinion matters. This is their money. Personally, I make it a point to help any way I can both financially and/or physically. I do so because it's the right thing to do and one day I'm gonna be judged on my earthly deeds. I can't speak on Bey and Jay b/c I'm not privy to their humanitarianism (sp) efforts. But I do know that in capitalist America you're gonna give freely and/or not (through taxes).

Name: dakoolestkat
Comment: Point taken Huey. Doing something BIG should be done by anyone who has as much money and clout as they have. Unfortunately, greed and selfishness is what has this country in the financial turmoil that it is now. *sigh*

Name: DC_Diva
Comment: Hi Haters! I guess more people would be happy if they reported Jay and B were on the brink of bankruptcy! The FACT is nobody knows what THEY spend THEIR money on or to which charities they contribute to. Just b/c you haven't read about it doesn't mean they don't give back...and wasn't everyone up in arms over the story about Donald Trump telling the world Jennifer Hudson was staying in his hotel free of charge? So you're damned if you tell people about your generosity and you're damned if you don't!

Name: JamerDelta
Comment: Congrats to this couple! It just shows that there is money available if you want to make it. It always cracks me up when people try to dictate what others 'should' do with the money they earned. There's no such thing as 'should'...that's just your opinion. I'm sure the family members and others they help out can attribute to their giving LOL...

Name: dakoolestkat
Comment: Thanks DC_Diva for hitting it right on the nail. That's all I was trying to say earlier is that we honestly just don't know exactly how much or how little they donate to charities..if they give anything at all. If they made it public everytime they donated then they would be accused of showboating or doing a publicity stunt.

Comment: Southernbelle ---thats what this board is for, to enlighten, ur opinion is solicited on this board. in that regard, it does matter, it matters to us posters who want to be enlightened. so post away. we want to be enlightened.

Comment: I don't lisen to either of their music but I ain't one to rain on someones shine so I say get what you can get while you can get it. But what's up with these names? Bragalina, BeyJay? They sound so silly. If you gonna name them silly but appropriate names, then these two should be called horse hair and horse face

Name: dcdouglass01
Comment: Good for them. As far as philanthropy goes, Beyonce is a sweet girl, so I'm sure they're doing some things now, and, as age besets more wisdom upon them, will do even more in the future (she certainly is doing as much as she can to keep Solange's career afloat).

Name: huey
Comment: DC_Diva---why come people gotz to be haters if they observe that there is a possiblity and appearance that these two "rich" folks dont appear to be pulling they weight?

Comment: Does Beyonce Do Any Kind Of Charity Work And Give Back To The Needy? Just curious..because....She is number 4 on Forbes....I read she is worth $80 million something ....but I was wondering..for someone who makes that much...or is worth that much..does she do any charity work and gives back to the community. I heard from alot of people in Houston that she doesn't. I'm saying if celebs give back ALOT and is always giving to the needy and charity...I feel the public will know. I mean look at Angelina and Brad Pitt....they stay on top when it comes to giving back and help the poor and giving to charity. I don't even think they try to get praise for it....I think they do it from the goodness of their heart and the media loves to talk about it. I believe when Celebs give back..you will know about it..you will hear about it..and if you don't..then maybe the celebs ain't doing anything for the community. 3 months ago Beyoncé Knowles – the 26-year-old soulstress from Destiny’s Child – is not only one of the great survivors of the music industry, but also someone who cares deeply about people. The list of charities she supports is both long and varied, but perhaps the greatest contribution she has made is the Survivor Foundation, an organization she founded with fellow Destiny’s Child Kelly Rowland to help victims of Hurricane Katrina. The foundation’s accomplishments are many, including the Music World Cares Christmas Carnival that enabled over 300 low-income households to enjoy a fun-filled day of food, entertainment, a visit from Santa Claus and free toys from the toy giveaway. The singer also held a series of food drives before her concerts in 2006 to collect the food that was so desperately needed by victims. Beyoncé was also an Amb%*$ador for the 2005 World Children’s Day, and released “Stand Up For Love,” the anthem for the event which takes place annually around the world on November 20 to raise awareness and funds for children’s causes. Beyoncé donated a handbag to an auction benefitting Women’s Fund for Scotland. But her concern for people is sometimes more discreet, as was shown when she visited two people who were injured during a fireworks accident at one of her concerts, arriving at the hospital shortly after the concert ended. Head nurse Darryl Williams said, “She was just very concerned about the people injured in the audience. It was unannounced and we kept it very low-key so that she could spend time with them.” 3 months ago http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=2008082118 4058AAmXCPa

Comment: *trying to find a way out of this corner huey backed me into* I'm just gonna continue to think the best of them. For all I know, Bey and Jay will give away 100 million of their earnings this year LOL.

Name: DC_Diva
Comment: huey>>> Because "my" definition of hate is negative speculation. If you knew for a fact that they weren't pulling their weight I would have no comment. The FACT is you, me, or no one else on this board know how or what Jay-Z and Beyonce spend their money on.

Name: huey
Comment: Jay-Z Returns To Old Neighborhood With Loads Of Presents Jay-Z’s two previous Christmas Day visits to the Marcy Houses in Brooklyn have been huge hits with the kids. But the atmosphere was electric this year because in addition to $15,000 worth of toys, he brought along girlfriend, Destiny’s Child star Beyonce Knowles. “Everyone knew Jay-Z was going to be here, but I was surprised to see Beyonce,” 15-year-old Tiffany Williams told The New York Daily News. Williams got a Memphis Bleek CD and a high-tech pen from rapper. “It’s nice,” Tiffany said of Jay-Z’s gifts. “It’s the right thing to do. You don’t forget where you came from.” Jay-Z, 34, brushed off the compliment, calling his deeds “enrichment for the soul.”

Comment: Sunday, November 2, 2008 Diddy, Jay-Z give $1 million to Red Cross Rappers say they hope to inspire more donations HOW YOU CAN HELP A family watches as their neighbors comb the rubble for possessions and their pets in Biloxi, Mississippi after Hurricane Katrina hit Relief resources Donate to Katrina’s victims, get information, more Around the Gulf Coast region residents return home to rebuild as power and other services are slowly restored. NEW YORK - Sean “Diddy” Combs and Jay-Z have pledged $1 million to the American Red Cross to help victims of Hurricane Katrina. The two rappers announced their donation Thursday, saying they hoped to inspire others, especially blacks, to give. “This is our community,” Shawn “Jay-Z” Carter told The Associated Press by phone. “When I turn on CNN, I see a lot of black people on the streets. I know it’s other people too, but those projects have been hit hard.” Story continues below ?advertisement Combs agrees. “We are all descendants from each other’s families. When you hear black people say ‘brothers’ and ‘sisters,’ it’s really true. These are all people that I know I’m related to somehow, some way — the human race family.” Former New Orleans Mayor Marc Morial, now president of the Urban League, said Thursday that those left in the city “are people who are African-American mostly but not completely, and people who were of little or limited economic means. They are the folks, we’ve got to get them out of there.” Jay-Z said he had put in calls to NBA star LeBron James and rapper Kanye West for donations. Also on Thursday, Celine Dion and the partners of her Las Vegas show, “A New Day” — companies Concerts West/AEG Live and Dragone — pledged a $1 million donation to the Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund. © 2008 The Associated Press. Comment: The point is, in this ecomony, with hardworking people losing their jobs left and right, by no fault of their own, the last thing I am going to get excited about is finding out two entertainers made $162 million in one year. Now is not the time.

Name: JamerDelta
Comment: I actually think quite the opposite. In these times, its good to know that money is out there. Money is ALWAYS there, the key is how are you thinking about acquiring money? If you are solely depending upon a job that could or couldn't be there tomorrow based on 'the economy' then you may be out of luck, but if you are creative and look for other ways to create income esp. in recession proof industries, then you never will have a problem...they earned the money, it wasn't like they just printed it--that means that you can too...

Comment: To encourage celebrities to donate from their own pocket, the Giving Back Fund recently recognized celebrities who personally give the most. Forbes then used their research to rank the most generous celebrities on the Forbes Celebrity 100. While the list may miss private donations--which would be the definition of charity--experts in philanthropy noted that celebrities are very aware of the power of their image to bring in more donations and thus tend to be willing to publicize their giving. Oprah, not surprisingly, comes in first on both lists. The Queen of Daytime Television donated $50 million last year, five times more than any other celebrity and nearly 20% of the $275 million she earned last year. The majority of it went to her twin foundations, the Oprah Winfrey Foundation and Oprah's Angel Network. Her donations helped support programs ranging from a $750,000 school-building project in South Africa to $450,000 to rebuild areas hit by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt came in next for giving $8.4 million to their Jolie-Pitt Foundation. The couple donated approximately 25% of the $34 million they earned last year, with much of it going to the Make It Right Project, which plans to build 150 green homes in New Orleans' Ninth Ward. Michael Jordan followed suit for donating $5 million, or 11% of the $45 million he brought in last year, to Chicago's Hales Franciscan High School, a historically African-American Catholic prep school. Conservative talk show host Rush Limbaugh ranked fourth on the Most Generous Celebrities List by donating $4.2 million, or approximately 13% of the $33 million he earned last year, to the Marine Corps Law Enforcement Foundation, a charity that helps support the children of Marines or federal law enforcement officers who died in the line of duty. Jerry Seinfeld rounded off the top five by donating $3 million, or about 4% of the $85 million he earned last year, to organizations such as the American Red Cross, Autism Speaks and Scholarship America. http://www.forbes.com/media/2008/11/24/oprah-philanthr opy-celebrity-biz-media-cz_dkr_1124charitycelebs.html? partner=whiteglove_google

Comment: I've heard that Jay Z donates to different causes, and I remember reading once that Beyonce donated to some little school program.

Comment: Congratulations Shawn and Beyonce!! I'm actually happy for them and anyone else who is out there making money in these hard times. Whether it's a few extra bucks a week or millions. I'm not going to be that person who decides how another person should spend their earned money. I know I dam sure don't want anyone to tell me how to spend mines. To those who may have a house foreclosed on, it's not the celebrities' responsibility to put you back into your house. Contact your local bank institution or your local/state government for assistance. That's what they are there for. Not a celebrity.
