Comment: Your points are well-taken. I'd argue that there are red flags about all of his cabinet, not just his economic team. This notion that only people who "know" Washington can be effective is erroneous at every angle. We were promised new blood, new ideas, new direction...we were lied to, plain and simple. If there was a true leader in charge, he/she would bring in succesful entrepreneurs from the private sector, successful high-level managers, succesful small-town and big-town mayors, etc, do something innovative for these precarious times which require more than ever nonconventional thinking. But the sad reality is most in Washington (including the pres-elect) are more power-driven than courageous, more system-oriented than original, so while they run on "change," in reaity they appreciate the establishment--it's their security blanket. *sigh* How I wish an MLK or Abe Lincoln or some type maverick would rise to the fore to take a stand and make bold choices to (in Obama's favorite words, lol) "change the trajectory of America." Oh well

Comment: I've only been making cursory glances at Obama's appointments, but I have no problem with them so far. Past member of the Clinton team? So what. The country was in pretty good shape when Clinton was president. Besides, as Obama has made clear, he's the head man in charge and they all have to ultimately answer/adjust to his whims.

Comment: the global financial game board has changed significantly since the heyday of Team Clinton and Team Clinton is not the same as Team Obama even if many team players were/are participants of the administrations in the past and in the present . . . . . Team Clinton's visionary construct was to solidify the clinton policies [the legacy] while creating prosperity via all necessary financial modernization means which we have come to see as heavily abused with disastrous results since the late 1990s . . . . . the former members of Team Clinton will bring change we can believe in to Team Obama because the team leader intends to involve many Americans at all levels and because former Team Clinton knows how they unraveled New Deal safeguards while building prosperity whereas as Team Obama, they will not simply re-do the New Deal or further institutionalize the clinton legacy because the global financial technologies and demands of now do not remotely resemble the times of the New Deal or the clinton heyday . . . . the red flag tossing and conclusions about lying are distractions that need to be held in check and they can be used in due time as applicable to point to specific instances should those instances arise

Comment: Also Hutchinson speaks of the Clinton policies and skips right over Bush. Bush has been president for the last eight years, and had majority rule for six of those eight. He and his people were, at best, asleep at the wheel, and at worst, complicit in allowing the oil companies, Wall Street, mortgage lenders, etc., to do as they pleased, with greed as their primary driver. And as far as regulation goes, here's another one you can put on the list for increased regulation (RANT ALERT): cable companies. The one in my neighborhood (Comcast) has a virtual monopoly and can raise rates as they please (as exemplified by my annual rate increase notice yesterday). These companies should be regulated in a fashion similar to other companies that have monopolies (e.g., utility companies). Alright...done with my rant for today.

Comment: Teigh..I wouldn't even give Lincolon that much credit..and possibly not MLK. I will disagree w/u and say that he needed people who "know" Washington in his cabinet. I have no problems w/the people he's chosen...except for Hillary. IMO, that means the only change Obama has shown so far is a change in administration..and a change in race. BTW, who's the other black man Obama appointed to a cabinet level position? I can't remember his name.

Comment: musbdherbs - his name is Eric Holder. He appointed his Attorney General. He also has Rice as his Amb%*$ador to the UN which position he raised to a cabinet one. This was exactly as it was under Clinton's presidency. I'm not sure I agree with TGEN = that we've been lied to. I think what happened is Obama's ideology got a reality check.
