For many of them to work so hard by making it to the professional level just toget mixed up in foolishness makes no sense. Burress' lawyer, Benjamin Brafman, wrote in an e-mail to The Associated Press on Sunday that he was advised the player planned to plead not guilty to criminal possession of a weapon.
"I do not expect that Mr. Burress will make a statement," Brafman wrote.
He met with Burress for about an hour Sunday at the player's home in New Jersey.
"I would ask that his fans, the Giants and the media withhold judgment in this matter until all of the facts have been disclosed," Brafman wrote to the AP.
Brafman is a well-known criminal lawyer who has defended mobsters and other high-profile figures, including hip-hop impresario Sean "Diddy" Combs on a bribery and gun possession charge in 2001.

But actually, dude could have killed an innocent bystander and ended all that is left of his shaky career.. TEST I hear what you're saying but Plex wasn't licensed to carry a concealed weapon in NY. The one he had in FLA had expired. My thing is this, if you think the club is too damn dangerous to go to without a piece..stay yo' black azz at home with your WIFE and child!..I just don't know what happened to Plex after my STILLAZ got rid of him. I'm sure he felt bitter because the white press here never really gave him a chance. They saw a tall thug with braids, but I saw a very insecure individual with a tremendous speech impediment which at times, seem corrected. Then the death of his mom hit him terribly. But overall the dude just didn't get what it meant to be a "professional" athlete and there was no one in his circle who bothered to show him how. Just a bunch leeches.

Comment: Some of y'all fail to realize that high profile athletes are targets, lest we forget that Sunday was the anniversary of Sean Taylor's death. Also we can't forget about the Broncos' Darrent Williams getting shot up. Plax was not "thuggin' out" as you might think. He just made poor judgement in both going to a club where you had to be packing, and not just hiring a security team who would have gun permits. It's like Keyshawn Johnson said on ESPN Countdown, it's not uncool to have bodyguards around you when you go out. Look at Terrell Owens. He has a bodyguard with him all the time.
