Comment: Good morning everyone. Did anyone see TV One's "Unsung" specials on DeBarge and Phyllis Hyman. If so, what were your thoughts.
I thought they were excellent. DeBarge and Phyllis Hyman are some of my favorite artists. Regarding DeBarge, it's tragic that they've had to face so many demons. When I watched the one of Phyllis, tears came to my eyes because she had such a fantastic voice. I thought to myself, "Who's comparable to her today?" No disrespect to the artists of today, but I couldn't think of too many who have not only the looks, the depth of talent Phyllis had. Phyllis had them both. While both shows were very informative, they were also very sad. BTW, Al Be Sure did a fantastic job at narrating.

Sheree...arrest record, a 23 year child who she doesn't allow to call her mom, didn't get the 7 figures she expected and now the house in on the block? Wow, what was she thinking when she said, "People are envious of me because of my success."

Comment: Morning Fam!! GOOO STEELERS!!!! Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. The fam came from Chi-town to visit. We had a ball! I ate 50-11 times and I'm literally wobbling into work. Got up on Black Friday and ordered some stuff online cause no way was I going into the store to get a big azz TV by myself and noone else would get up that early besides my sis. I did run up the street to Pep Boys and got my mom the GPS system she wanted. I was back home in 10 minutes flat. I'm looking online now for cyber monday deals and I don't see anything that is grabbing my attention.

I'll send pics later. They are on my co-workers camera and she is in training at another camp. You will have email shortly. /Did y'all read the story of the man who was trampled to death in Wal-Mart on Black Friday? And what got me was the shopper's reactions when management said the store would be closing. There was also the shooting in Toys 'R Us. Two people dead. They shot each other. SMH What a mess. /DJones - Have you ever heard of a website called TrackSpin? I think it's mostly to help up and coming artists. They have every genre on there. I think you and AS12 would love. I'd promised him that my face would be the last he saw before going in to surgery and that it would be the first he saw when he woke up. The sweet baby had the nurse come get me before he would let his parents & brother come back --- that made me cheese! :-) Anyway, I've been a good little nurse and I've done everything without complaining!! Oh, Friday morning I bought a new TV.

And as far as the Wal-Mart worker that got trampled...I'm at a loss of words. I cram to understand what would make a crowd become a mob like that. That man died in vain...to think he lost his life so that others could save a few dollars on merchandise completely throws me. And the Toys 'R Us shootings? Got me looking like a deer caught in the headlights...I really don't know what to say to describe the digust I feel. I went out there this past Friday to do a little shopping but quickly called it off so that I wouldn't end up on the news. So many rude shoppers bumping into you without saying excuse me and all the shopping carts blocking the aisles, the shelves looking raggedy, merchandise on the floor...nah, I just fell back, hit the redbox and called it a day.

He is black. Now there are tons of rumors going around. And the media and police are staying silent b/c they want to protect her "reputation". If this was one of the black anchorwomen they wouldn't be so determine to get everything quiet. Not only was she beaten to the point she wasn't recognized but she was brutally rape. The police still haven't said anything about the rape. The rumors in the street is she was pregnant by the very married boxer Jermaine Taylor.

Comment: Jav, true. But I think the thing that did Texas in was losing to Tech. Granted, it wasn't like Tech whooped them...it came down to a last play that did them in but it was the timing of the loss. In college football, timing is everything. If you're going to lose, lose early in the season. Ask Penn State...Southern Cal...or Florida. Well, actually, Florida has a chance to play in the National Championship if they beat Bama. Go figure!

Then some chick punched her in the eye (long story) which caused a lot of damage. Then she had an accident which aggravated it even further. I think that's when she lost it. She took it out for us one time. Her real eye is sunken in. But whoever made the glass eye did such a good job I can never tell which one is which. And I tell you, even though she wears corrective lenses, she sees EVERYTHING with that one eye!

Comment: Lovely, I don't think she was into drugs. Maybe black men. A few employees at the hospital were she was being treated were fired for looking at her records. Her face was sunk end, her hands were broke from trying to protect from getting beat, her brain was swollen. The hospital was releasing information about her getting better but they were lying. They knew all along she wasn't going to make it. They were just saying that hoping someone would come forward. There is so much to the story but the police aren't saying anything. But if this was a black woman....

Comment: Husband Dies Trying To Save Pregnant Wife-FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich., Nov. 29, 2008 - A Farmington Hills man was killed Saturday morning after he was hit by his own car. The man got out of the car to help his pregnant wife after she fell getting into the couple's mini van.Police say the man, his pregnant wife and a 2-year-old child were at the Farmington Library to return books when the accident happened. They say the woman dropped the books off in the night depository slot in front of the library and was headed back to the car, when she fell. The husband rushed to help her, forgot to put the van into park, and both were hit by the van. The man died at the scene. A witness entered the van, put the transmission into park and shut off the engine. Farmington Public Safety Director Chuck Nebus says, "He braced himself against the front of the vehicle in a desperate attempt to keep the back passenger side wheel from rolling over his wife. He died trying to protect his wife and unborn child."The man's wife is in fair condition. The child in the back seat was not injured.

Comment: Jfrom, he raped a woman in his hometown. The forensics lab finally got around to testing the DNA last week. I don't know how they figured it was him that was connected to the rape b/c he wasn't in the system. The only record he has are traffic tickets. The police in his hometown wanted to question him about the rape. They took his DNA and confirmed it was the same from the rape. Apparently the DNA from the rape and the DNA they gathered from the anchorwoman's house was a match. Yes she was raped but the police are keeping that on the hush. If you go to youtube and tape in John Walsh (host of America's Most Wanted) and Anne Presley you will see a clip of him saying she was rape then a look on his face like he forgot he wasn't suppose to mention that. I said from the beginning this couldn't be a random robbery like the police were saying. I watch too much First 48 Hours and crime shows to know when someone is beaten like that, it's personal.

The only player I could stomach was Grant Hill until Corey Maggette and Carlos Boozer came along. But that's just three guys from a program that hails itself as one of college basketball's finest. That's why I say Coach K is the bomb. Only he can take a team of no name dudes and play for a championship. Most programs like UCLA, UNC, Kentucky, etc. have all star casts. Just look at how many pros UNC has pumped out! But Duke? Heck, I even remember when Arkansas had a squad with Todd Day, Oliver Miller and Lee Mayberry. Don't ask me where they are now but back in the day they were hell.

He had called me Tuesday evening and apologized for being an azz when I was home in Oct. I accepted the apology. I was glad to show my support and respect for his sister and family and it was good seeing people I haven't seen in years. I told him if he needs a listening ear he can call me sometimes. I've talked to him a couple of times since then. Notesinger says after the grief and shock starts diminishing he will return to being the jerk that he is. LOL I've also talked to his daughter, who is having a difficult time because she and her aunt were very close. I enjoyed Thanksgiving with my best friend and her family. Comment: TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN.....
If a man wants you, nothing can keep him away.
If he doesn't want you, nothing can make him stay.
Stop making excuses for a man and his behavior.
Allow your intuition (or spirit) to save you from heartache.
Stop trying to change yourselves for a relationship that's not meant to be. Slower is better.
Never live your life for a man before you find what makes you truly happy.
If a relationship ends because the man was not treating you as you deserve then heck no, you can't "be friends." A friend wouldn't mistreat a friend.
Don't settle. If you feel like he is stringing you along, then he probably is.
Don't stay because you think "it will get better." You'll be mad at yourself a year later for staying when things are not better.
The only person you can control in a relationship is you.
Avoid men who've got a bunch of children by a bunch of different women. He didn't marry them when he got them pregnant, Why would he treat you any differently?
Always have your own set of friends separate from his.
Maintain boundaries in how a guy treats you. If something bothers you, speak up.
Never let a man know everything. He will use it against you later.
You cannot change a man's behavior. Change comes from within.
Don't EVER make him feel he is more important than you are...even if he has more education or in a better job. Do not make him into a quasi-god.
He is a man, nothing more nothing less.
Never let a man define who you are.
Never borrow someone else's man.
Oh Lord!? If he cheated with you, he'll cheat on you. A man will only treat you the way you ALLOW him to treat you.
All men are NOT dogs.
You should not be the one doing all the bending...compromise is a two-way street.
You need time to heal between relationships..........there is nothing cute about
baggage... deal with your issues before pursuing a new relationship
You should never look for someone to COMPLETE you...a relationship consists
of two WHOLE individuals...look for someone complimentary....not supplementary.
Dating is fun...even if he doesn't turn out to be Mr.. Right.
Make him miss you sometimes...when a man always know where you are, and your
always readily available to him- he takes it for granted.
Don't fully commit to a man who doesn't give you everything that you need. Keep him in your radar but get to know others.
Share this with other ladies..... You'll make someone SMILE, another RETHINK her choices, and another woman PREPARE.
They say it takes a minute to find a special person, an hour to appreciate them, a day to love them and an entire lifetime to forget them.
Pass this on to all the Sista's you
know. Never know who might be helped by it.
BY THE WAY, THIS WAS WRITTEN BY A MAN, SO TAKE A HINT..............

Comment: I hung out at my godmother's house yesterday, and watched several of the "drama-filled, ghetto, Black reality shows" and got hooked! I read your posts about RHOA and Keyshia Cole and have never been interested in seeing them. After yesterday I have a different perspective. Although NeNe may appear to be ghetto-fab, I like her because she is real and tells the truth. I think she and I could be friends because she doesn't seem to be a nasty or mean person, and I'm very direct and outspoken, too. I'll have to look her up and see if we can hang out. LOL Keyshia seems to be a sweet girl who really wants to bring her family together. I hope she realizes that everyone has to be willing to do so, and that she has to accept people for who they are are and where they are right now. No one knows if or when they will change. And I hope she takes the accountant's advice and stops spending so much money on her family; they need to get jobs like other regular folks. Keyshia is a star, they aren't.

Comment: Lovely, I got the new Kanye CD. It is very different than anything I've heard him work on. Interesting that you called it European club music...it never dawned on me but in reality European club is more frenetic in pace. Whetver this is I know for sure that you can't call it hip-hop. In fact, I would use the term "rap" loosely when describing it as well. He did alot of singing on here which threw me because I saw him perform "Love Lockdown" live and he struggled with some notes...I found the production to be good and I might have called it a classic if it was another artist singing. This will have to grow on me. But I think the best song on the album is "Say You Will". It's haunting strings, lonely piano keys and that Atari like bleep in the background is bananas. I hear Diddy is the next rapper turnt singer that's going to be singing with that vocoder...

IMO, Sheree is a facefront. That's all. Pretending to be something she's not. Kim: My question is, where does she get her money from? She and Big Poppa were only together for about 7 months, but she acts like she got duckets coming out of her special place. DeShawn: I like her b/c she was with hubby since they were in college, but she is unsmart in the common sense department. Lisa: I don't know the situation with her and Keith. But she gets her hustle on, so I aint mad at that. Keisha Cole...Her family just amazes me. It seems Neffie and Frankie would do better than what they do. Ain't nothing wrong with just being quiet and taking it all in before you respond.

Comment: The show "Brothers to Brutha" on BET had some interesting dynamics going on between the brothers, and their father and uncle. To me, their actions demonstrated that some Black men hold in their emotions, thoughts and pains instead of communicating and working through them. Instead of trying to talk to others, they try to play "tough guy" and end up making a bigger mess by arguing, cursing and fighting. In one episode the uncles took them to visit their father in Vegas. The uncle and father got into a physicial fight in less than five minutes. Then the father cursed out one of the sons, said some very ugly things to his own flesh and blood. When the boy was outside the father was saying "He knows I love him." Uh, how is he supposed to know or believe that when you just talked to him like he was a stranger on the street? After everyone cooled down the uncle and father cried and hugged, and the father and sons cried and hugged and the father apologized to everyone. He then said he was willing to listen to what they all had to say. Okay, why did you have to throw blows and insults before you could sit the machismo down and talk from the heart? Does anyone else feel this happens amongst other Black men in real life?

Comment: DJ> Shame on you. GMU has plenty of history - its just new history! It has changed soooo much since I was there last (roughly 8 years ago). The campus is very beautiful and inviting. They also have made soooo many additions to the campus and cirriculum due to their outstanding programs. Excellent choice. Yeah, VCU would have the better forensics program due to its close proximity to the crime lab right there in Richmond, etc., but I never got the "campus" feel from VCU. It seems sooo open and "downtownish", as opposed to a traditional campus with grass, rolling hills, trees, etc. To each his/her own, but while they had a great communications program when I was looking at schools, I couldn't get down with the "feel" of it, so I chose Mason who also had a great communications program, but felt more like a real campus.

Comment: Let me tell you what I love about a black man. I love his devotion, his dedication, his power and strength. His endurance, love, sincerity and compassion. It's my Dad, My brother, My boo, and one day will be my son! I think ALL of us have the ability to run game, get played and have been hurt. MAKE POOR CHOICES!! But at the end of the day there are MANY MORE Black men doing the right thing than those doing the wrong thing. Trust...dogs are dogs regardless of race. I've known love and heartache, I've known game and run game my dayum self. But at the end of the day I love a Black men, I love knowing his touch and admiring his beauty and knowing the greatness we can acheive together. And IF he chooses a 25/20 or another sister over me...so be it. That's HIS CHOICE. If he chooses to run game...That's his burden to bear not mine. But I'll be dayumed if I let it ruin my attitude towards the rest of them out there handling their business, raising there sons and daugthers and showing love on a daily basis. 'Keep Moving Forward'

Comment: DJ, you are bring back memories with the mention of Todd Day and Lee Mayberry. I had a huge crush on Lee. That's when our bball program was on point. And we were in the SW Conference with all the Texas teams then we moved to the SE Conference and was still running things. In our first season, they finished in first place in the conference. All three players actually made it to the NBA and played for at least 5 yrs. I think Todd Day played the longest. I think Todd is back in Memphis. In 1990 they went to the Final Four and was beat by Duke. But we got our revenge in 1994 when we beat them in the championship game. Made it back to the championship game and lost to UCLA with the O'Brannon brothers. I wonder what happened to them? They were suppose to be big NBA players. Coach Nolan Richardson said his team with Day, Miller, and Mayberry was the best but his team with Corey Beck, Corliss "Big Nasty" Williamson, and Scotty Thurman won the championship. I'm still mad how those white folks did Coach Richardson.

Comment: Most of the ships that transit that body of water are unarmed commercial vessels with very small crews (about 20-30 max). Even those huge 1,100 foot long oil supertankers only have a handful of crew on them. The pirates use swift boats that are armed with rocket launchers. Even if the commercial vessels have lookouts it serves no purpose because they are either unarmed or lightly armed to defend themselves. All commercial vessels have what are called accomodation ladders where crew can embark/depart the ship. Often shipping pilots use these ladders to get onboard to pilot the ships into harbor. These are also how these pirates are boarding as well. And yes, it would be frightening to see some skinny africans with huge guns bumrushing your ship. My question is where is the US Navy in all of this? Surely these pirates are committing illegal activity and disrupting the sea lanes from safe navigation. It seems to me that the Navy would create a presence to patrol this body of water to ensure safe shipping lanes for these commercial vessels...

OK, so there was this local lodge group (I don't know what the group was, but it was one of those secret society type groups). Well they had asked our church if they could conduct a memorial service for their past on members. I guess it was ok with the pastor so the event was approved. We had a service that was expected to follow on after that event had concluded, so some of us choir members tipped into the back of the church while this other service was going on. These people were standing up with candles lit, saying *Persons name* Persons name. Then saying "(s)he does not answer. OMG, I about fell off the pew. So we had gotten real silly after a while, and when they called a name, one of our choir members said, "hello" OMG, I'm dying laughing now. This was about 25 years ago. I know you had to be there, but that was so funny!!!

Comment: The former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick’s chief of staff has reached a plea deal with prosecutors. She pleaded guilty to two felony counts of obstruction of justice.
Beatty agreed to five years of probation and will serve 120 days in Wayne County Jail. She will pay $100,000 in restitution to the city of Detroit, which will be paid for during the five years of probation. She will have until Jan. 5 to begin serving her time.
She will not be allowed to travel outside of Wayne, Macomb or Oakland counties during that time. Beatty teared up as the judge asked her to read her statement. After a brief pause to compose herself, "I lied under oath in the case of Harold Nelthrope and Jerry Brown regarding information that was relevant to the case. I did so with the intent to mislead the court and jury and to impeded and obstruct the fair administation of justice."
She continued, "I lied under oath of the civil deposition of the Brown and Nelthrope lawsuit." The judge accepted her plea and scheduled her sentencing for Jan. 5 at 9 a.m. As Beatty left the courtroom, Local 4's Kevin Dietz asked her if she had anything to say. "No comment," she said as she walked away.
"We are very happy as to how this was settled. We are ready to move on as a city, as a region, as a state," Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy said. "Come Jan. 5, when she is sentenced, we can truly move on and close the chapter on this."
Beatty, who has two young daughters was facing seven felony charges, had previously rejected a deal from Worthy in September that included a 150-day jail sentence.
Kilpatrick and Beatty were charged in March with perjury, misconduct and obstruction of justice. They're accused of lying under oath about an affair and their roles in the firing of three police officers. Kilpatrick accepted a plea deal and began a 120-day jail sentence in October. His deal also called for him to resign as mayor, spend five years on probation, and pay $1 million to the city and surrender his law license. IS THIS WHAT A RIDE OR DIE CHICK IS?

Comment: Lovely, in the wordds of BIG: If you don't know, now you know! The US is the world police. We have the greatest military force of any nation on Earth, hands down. But just as the old saying goes, To Whom Much is Given...we are often either looked upon by weaker nations or intrinsically within ourselves to provide military support. What I don't like is how we pick and choose who we will help. Remember Rwanda? Nuff said. Our Navy transits through that body of water (I think it's the Gulf of Aden) enroute to the Persian Gulf. That body of water leads into the Red Sea where commercial vessels transit the Suez Canal which brings the Meditteranean Sea (Europe) and the Red Sea (Middle East) together. We all know what precious commodity comes from the Middle East so to have pirates hijacking supertankers loaded with oil and demanding ransom affects national security. To me, I see little difference in what they're doing and what Sadam did when he invaded Kuwait. If the US jumped over to Iraq to liberate Kuwait from Iraqi aggression then why have we wacthed report after report of comercial vessels being pirated? There's something deeper to this story than meets the eye...trust me.

The mixture was white, which let me know there was no cheese or cheese sauce mixed in. One of my aunts makes it like that, there's just cheese on top. Yuck, my cousins and I never would eat hers. I make a cheese sauce that includes flour, butter, eggs and milk, then add the noodles and salt and pepper. (a shortcut is to use Campbell's cheddar cheese soup as the base) Then I put a layer of noodles in the dish, top with a layer of cheese, and repeat. I like lots of cheese, all the way through. Also, I like sharp cheese, while some people prefer mild, Velveeta, and other less pungent types.

Comment: NO WAY TO STOP US, PIRATE LEADER SAYS: From David McKenzie
CNN
NAIROBI, Kenya (CNN) -- Somalis are so desperate to survive that attacks on merchant shipping in the Gulf of Aden and the Indian Ocean will not stop, a pirate leader promises.
"The pirates are living between life and death," said the pirate leader, identified by only one name, Boyah. "Who can stop them? Americans and British all put together cannot do anything."
The complete interview was provided to CNN last week and provides a glimpse of why piracy has been so hard to control in the region.
It is a largely lawless zone, considered extremely dangerous for Westerners to enter.
Boyah said that the piracy began because traditional coastal fishing became difficult after foreign fishing trawlers depleted local fish stocks. Traditional fishermen started attacking the trawlers until the trawler crews fought back with heavy weapons. The fishermen then turned to softer targets.
"We went into the deep ocean and hijacked the unarmed cargo ships," Boyah said.
"For the past three years, we have not operated near the Somali coast. We have operated at least 80 miles [out], in international waters."
Over the past year, the number of pirate attacks has increased dramatically. The International Maritime Bureau cites more than 90 pirate attacks off East Africa so far in 2008. When attacks are successful, the hijacked ships are taken to Somali waters, where the ships and crew are held until a ransom is paid.
The hijackings have been profitable. Kenya's foreign minister, Moses Wetangula, estimates the pirates have been paid more than $150 million during the past year. One pirate gang wants $2 million dollars to release a Yemeni freighter and crew seized last week.
Facing increasing disruptions through one of the busiest sea lanes in the world, several countries have sent warships to patrol the area. There have been reports of skirmishes between pirates and naval forces, but the military presence does not concern pirate leader Boyah. He boasts the pirates literally sail in a vast ocean beneath the radar of the warships. Watch how piracy thrives off Somalia »
"No ship has the capability to see everything," he said. "A ship can see 80 miles or so [on radar]. It cannot see us at all. No one can do anything about it."
Boyah said it is unlikely the Puntland regional government would ever crack down on piracy because government officials are involved in financing the piracy and collect a cut of the ransoms.
"They motivate us. It's their money and their weapons," Boyah said. "Thirty percent belongs to them."
"The pirates are at sea and Puntland does not approach them. The pirates are on land and Puntland does not approach them," Boyah said. "They arrest some small people and tell the world that they captured pirates, but they are liars."

Then another person would say "She does not answer" and blow out the candle. So I turned to a friend and said, 'she better not answer. Nobody they call better answer seeing as they had a list of names with DOBs and DoDs in the program. So after a few names had been called, a choir member said hello. OMG, I about had an anuerysm from holding my laugh in. I quickly got out of the church and laughed so hard, my nose was running. OMG, it was so funny. Whew. Comment: Lovely, that article speaks alot of truth but again, US warships have some sick, sick radar. The only thing their radar might miss is a man in the water. For that they have lookouts that stand in the front of the ship and another on the back of the ship and they scan the horizon for "contacts". This is how so many fisherman get rescued off the coast of the US. These lookouts constantly scan the horizon for small fishing trawlers, debris that might smack the ship, people in the water, etc.

Comment: Pen - My godmother says the word on the street is that Lisa had drug problems when she and Keith lived in New York, that's why he got custody of the kids. I wonder the same thing about Kim, if she was only with Big Poppa for 7 months, where does her money come from. My godmother's theory is Kim and NeNe are former skrippers and Kim probably still is a call girl. She insists NeNe met her husband when she was in the bizness. I do wonder how/where NeNe met such a wealthy man. DeShawn ain't the brightest bulb in the box, but she isn't mean or catty. She stays quiet when the others are going at it. She needs to thank God every night that her college boyfriend loved her and made it big, 'cause I don't know what else she would have accomplished. Sheree seems evil, lonely and miserable. I'm not impressed with any of them since they married money (or screw for it in Kim's case) instead of making money. My aunt and I agreed that no classy and cultured "real" ATL housewives would sign on the show, so Bravo got these level D chicks.

People always ask for my spaghetti sauce recipe, and I have no idea what I put in it until I actually make it. But, in my mac n cheese (I seldom make it anymore, because the family prefers I make potatoes and cheese c%*$erole ILO mac n cheese). NTL in my mac n cheese, I use shredded colby, chedder and monteray jack cheese, canned milk, eggs, sour cream and butter. I make it up as I go along. I also make a base of cheese sauce. Then bake it all together. (My son likes me to putsbacon bits on top of it.) But some folks I know sprinkle bread crumbs on top.

Comment: Ame, I read that the fact Kim was telling people that Lisa's drug propblem was the reason why she lost her kids is what caused Lisa to threaten Kim. Lisa said she has never done drugs, and bascially, because she was pursuing and acting career during her divorce that the judge ruled Keith was the more stable parent between them, and awarded custody to Keith. She said she was devastated. But what ticked her off was the on some set that the ATL wives were invited on to have cameo roles, only Kim and Sheree showed up. During that event, someone asked Kim what she thought about Lisa. This person was a friend of Lisa, unbeknownst to Kim. But, suffice to say, Kim utilized no restraint and basically said that only mothers who are crackheads lose their kids...ergo, Lisa must have been a crackhead! So, that person told Lisa, and it has been on and popping ever since.

Ingredients 2 cups uncooked elbow macaroni (an 8-ounce box isn't quite 2 cups) 4 tablespoons (1/2 stuck) butter, cut into pieces 2 1/2 cups (about 10 ounces) grated sharp Cheddar cheese 3 eggs, beaten 1/2 cup sour cream 1 (10 3/4-ounce) can condensed Cheddar cheese soup 1/2 teaspoon salt 1 cup whole milk 1/2 teaspoon dry mustard 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
Directions Boil the macaroni in a 2 quart saucepan in plenty of water until tender, about 7 minutes. Drain. In a medium saucepan, mix butter and cheese. Stir until the cheese melts. In a slow cooker, combine cheese/butter mixture and add the eggs, sour cream, soup, salt, milk, mustard and pepper and stir well. Then add drained macaroni and stir again. Set the slow cooker on low setting and cook for 3 hours, stirring occasionally.

Comment: DJones - I'm the Great Value and Equate Wal-Mart queen. However, I don't use cheap cheese in my mac. I'll use it in salads or something, but the mac and cheese must be of the utmost quality! Some store brands are oily. Since Nuby says Great Value is okay I'll try it, always glad to save some $$. Pen - I'm not a fan of sour cream, it's too sour for me. When I make hash brown cas-serole I use one part sour cream and one part plain yogurt to cut the tartness. Nuby - What flavor does the cream of chicken or mushroom give your mac? I use those in dressing and broccoli cas-serole, never thought to put them in the mac. Someone said they don't like evaporated milk. My aunt taught me to use it to keep the moisture in the mac. I use regular milk in the cheese sauce and noodles, but pour some evaporated milk over the entire cas-serole before putting it in the oven. I don't like Velveeta's flavor for mac; I use it for nacho dip. And I don't like a crunchy topping on my mac, only on green bean or broccoli cas-serole. /yelley - Do you mix the Lipton soup mix in the sauce/base? Isn't it cool to have so many varieties of dishes? /Lovely - We already know your taste buds are jacked up, you've told us about other popular Black folks' delicacies that you don't like. /DJones - Gub'ment cheese made the best grilled cheese sammiches! I hated powdered milk, puke, puke, puke. Lovely, it's Carnation powdered milk in a box.

A BIG FAT He77 to the mo fo naw!!! Talking about the store was out of macaroni. Now she can't tell me that all of the stores in Sac were out of macaroni!!! I Gotta go. I'm trying to save an account that renews today. Our client went insurance shopping and got a quote $6,000 less than what we proposed. Now I have to beg our Underwriter to bring our pricing down. Comment: DJ, what I got from that fight is Todd CAN'T fight. He was swinging at the air. LOL I think Scotty Thurman missed up when he decided to forgo his senior yr to enter the NBA. Him and Corliss Williamson entered the same yr. Alot of analysts were saying Scotty was making a huge mistake b/c he was good but not good enough to forgo his last yr of college ball. I can't recall if Scotty even played a game in the NBA. I know he is sitting back kicking himself in the azz b/c he was a damn good ball player. He needed that last year to get out of Corliss' shadow. Did the O'Bannon brothers ever play a game in the NBA? They had so much potential but didn't do jack.

Comment: Not that there's ever a 'good' time to lose loved ones, but it seems like losing one during the holiday season is even harder. My cousin died a few days before Christmas one year and it was REALLY hard on the whole family. The more my mom pinched me, the more i laughed. It tickles me just thinking about it!

Comment: JFrom - You've been compiling our cookbook for a while. Do you take the recipes we post on the board? /Pen - I'm from the South, and my friend's mother in Connecticut said she was going to make baked mac and cheese, I thought "That's redundant, she doesn't need to say baked." I had never heard of mac in the crock pot, I only knew the baked version. I'm like Penelope, I cook as I go and rarely measure ingredients. I'll "create" stuff in a heart beat. /Lovely - I learned from Food Network cooks that Yukon Gold are the best variety to use in mashed potatoes. I also use them in potato salad now. And I learned that you put the potatoes in cold water then turn on the heat so they cook evenly.

First of all, its wrong for so many different reasons, but to have to walk by the casket in order to escape is a real OMG moment! I'm not a good funeral person so I try to avoid them when at all possible. I had four of them last year, and that was more than enough. At least the corpses weren't standing up like that one guy!

It was horrible just like that movie that had the fog that made all the insects huge. I can't remember the name of it but I think it came out last year. It was horrible. Dude killed everybody in the end because he thought they were going to be eaten by a bug but then seconds later the Army came in and saved the day AFTER he blew everybody's brains out! STUPID! Come to think of it I thought "The Strangers" was a waste of a hard earned dollar and two hours of my life! Comment: Dj...I take the blame for the Strangers, but I told y'all that I have had my home broken into while I was in the house with two babies. So, the Strangers went to my deepest fear. The Unborn is a remake of a Japanese movie. I'm not the standard barer for saying what makes a movie scary, because I don't like scary movies period. My husband says it works in his favor that I am scared of scary movies because he said I tend to notice strangeness before he does.

See, the Village pi$$ed me off, and we were like that's the last one we'll ever see. Then the Lday in the Water had no appeal to me. Especially after I heard him say it was bedtime story for his kids...but then we thought becaue Walberg was in the Happening it would be ok. NOT! NOT! NOT! I'm done with M Night. Never again. Comment: A judge set bail for Plaxico Burress at $100,000 today and a grand jury hearing has been set for March 31. He did not enter a plea.
The prosecutor had asked for a $250,000 bail due to the nature of the felony. His attorney argued that since Plax had a $35 million contract, he wasn't going anywhere. Apparently, the judge agreed.
As for the illegal weapons charge, if convicted Plax could face as much as a 15-year prison sentence. His lawyer, Benjamin Brafman, told the judge the gun in question had been registered in Florida and even though Plax has a house in New Jersey, he spends half his time in the Sunshine State.
Plax is in the courthouse and will stay there until he posts bond.

Comment: Birmingham Mayor Larry Langford was arrested Monday and the 101-count indictment against him has been unsealed.
This morning, U.S. Attorney Alice Martin announced that Langford, along with friend Al LaPierre and businessman Bill Blount, face charges of conspiracy, bribery, fraud, money laundering and filing false tax returns.
Langford was taken into custody at his job at Birmingham Budweiser Distributing. LaPierre turned himself in. Blount was expected to do the same.
Martin said Langford, as president of the Jefferson County Commission, steered $7.1 million in business to Bill Blount’s investment banking firm Blount Parrish. Martin said that in exchange, Blount ensured Langford’s “crushing debt” to the tune of $235,000.
During the news conference Martin said Langford received bribes from Blount—through friend Al LaPierre—to buy clothes and jewelry from expensive New York boutiques and high-end stores in Birmingham as well.
Martin said that between 2003 and 2006, Blount paid for about $235,000 in clothing, jewelry and charge account bills for Langford.
The U.S. Attorney also said that Blount gave Langford a $11,000 Rolex watch.

Comment: MIAMI — Rabbi Moishe Silverman stood taking inventory of a meat freezer at South Florida Kosher, the supermarket and butcher shop where he works. Dressed in a yarmulke and tie and wearing a plastic apron over his white butcher jacket, he surveyed the piled boxes of chicken and beef.
"Normally, this, on a Monday, this would be stacked up to here," he said, pointing to a mark on the wall above his head.
But the cardboard boxes of beef in the freezer mostly reached his knee. It's a scene being repeated in the freezers of kosher butchers and their customers across the nation.
The shortage is the result of the collapse of Agriprocessors Inc., formerly the largest kosher meatpacking company in the nation. In May, nearly 400 workers were arrested in an immigration raid at the company's Postville, Iowa, slaughterhouse.
Since then, the company has struggled, and the plant has closed. It stopped shipping beef about three weeks ago and chicken in the last week, customers said. Since there are only a handful of processors nationwide who slaughter animals according to Jewish law and under the supervision of rabbis, the shutdown has cut the kosher meat supply to the bone.
Other processors have been swamped with orders and either boosting the amount of meat they produce or refusing to take new clients. Some consumers are paying up to 40 percent more for the same meat. Markets and butchers say they can't get certain cuts of beef for their customers, largely Orthodox Jews, and some have had to rearrange what they do have to fill display shelves.

I already shared that I wasn't up for their shiggidy and really would rather just go skiing as they had said that they wanted to do their own thing. But nooooo....SOME of them wanted to have their dinner prepared and who's the cook? Yours truly. So, I prepared a much smaller dinner than usual because some of the folks were smart and got out of Dodge and did their own thing. And let's just say that the madness ensued. Shoulda had my black azz in Tahoe chillin and getting my head in order considering all that I've been through this year. Still trying to get it screwed back on right. In such a foul mood.

Today is world AIDS day. In the US there are over a million people living with AIDS. Most of those people are Black. In my work with HIV prevention, I have met some truly fantastic people who died in the prime of their lives. Many of those people lived life as if they only had one day to live. I no longer do HIV prevention but, I will carry those people in my heart for the rest of my life. In the near future everybody on this board will know of someone with HIV. Extend a hand of understanding and please say a prayer for our people!!!!!
