Comment: I'm A.M.E., since 1980. I pay my tithes to my home church which is in another state. I reside in Jacksonville, Fl. For whatever reason, some pastors believe that the church is a business, whereby they can use the congretations belief in God to their personal benefit, e.g., 'they're so wrapped in in faith and forgiveness, surely they'll forgive ME when they find out what I've done [whatever that transgression mahy be].' The only 'business' the church should be in, is taking in the down-trodden, and setting the examply via testimonies and how they live for the Lord. In other words, setting the example, preaching the word: feeding the sheep. Sadly, the black church has lost its way. We have forgotten our Ancestors who left word thru the griots, and in writing that there is only ONE True and Living God! We've forgotten our history, and that it goes beyond American slavery. We've forgotten how our faith and sticktuitiveness brought us thus far! Hving served on finance boards, this pastor had 'help' in how he reaped. The 11th AME District is no different!

Comment: I have a question. Is there a meeting that goes over the expenses that are being spent? Is there not a check and balance system in place to questions items that are being purchased and questions raised when things start to look suspicious? Who is keeping the paperwork of the credit card that it is being allowed to be used in this manner?

Comment: Smokie1: Yes. The AME Discipline, and accompanying written authorities, e.g., standard accounting practices are very clear. These are reviewed [or should be] by the finance board[s], Stewards, and Trustees of the church, which is what makes this [and so many 'stories' like it] so interesting. I've seen monies taken out of the collection plate without substantiating vouchers. The practice made me give up my position on a finance board, and the fact that during that time, I'd just received my MBA. I spoke up, and proved my case thru the discipline, ethics, and accounting authorities only to have the pastor state that, "This is how we do it.' Well, they did it without me. True, my brotha, MOKelly, it is, indeed, sad!

Comment: Another example of the misuse of the gosple of Jesus Christ to finance your own lifestyle, which by the way, most of the stuff was not going on in the Black church until Fred Price came along with his so called Prosperity message that hasn't profited anyone except he, Betty and the family. And I'm waiting on some of this CCC members to come in here to and try running off at the mouth. Fred and Betty Price should be on Sen Grassly's list as well. Let's see, there's the Faith One Jet Plane, Bentley, Rolls Royce, Mulit Million Homes, abuse of power over the years, adultry within the family and the lastest scam, him becoming the so called Apostle Of Faith and making that biblically ignorant son of his, Freddy Jr, the new pastor of CCC.

Comment: I sincerely hope that there is an express lane to hell for preachers who personally enrich themselves illegally and immorally at the expense of their members in the name of the Lord.

Comment: And why do preachers like Fred Price need jet planes? I've never been to his church, don't know what neighborhood it's in, but I bet someone could stand in his parking lot and look in several directions and find people within walking distance who need ministering to as much as the people he flies to see in the name of missionary work.
