Comment: Indeed she is a dumb broad who is close-minded and ignorant. I I hope one day Obama could meet with him privately and talk. I think he was hurt by the dissed that had to be necessary. Although, I didn't see any wrong with his preaching. He was keeping it real telling the truth about Amerikkka. But the media portrayed him as a racist and tried to use that against Obama.

Comment: The campaign is over, the election is over and still the drama continues. While everyone gets up in arms by whatever version of the truth they hear - I have to ask myself WTH? Although Rev. Wright versed his personal opinions out loud in church, it was Barack that was on the attack. Barack made his decisions based on what's best for HIS families safety and to win an election that was long overdue. The media is the main culprit in all this - and I also agree that Hasselbeck is a jerk!

Comment: Im no fan of Hasselbeck (although I dont think she believes half of what she says - I think she says it for "shock value"), but Wright has become an embarassment to Trinity and to Christianity as a whole. The platform of the pulpit should be taken seriously, yet he uses it to express his misguided opinions - KNOWING the impact that it could have. That's the epitome of arrogance and condescencion, and there is nothing Christlike about that. Surely he cant think God is pleased, which should be the litmus test for everything thats spoken from such a platform. I digress...

Comment: Co-sign Boot. The man is "bombastic" (his favorite word, lol) and his animated style might be a little much for some people, but I don't think you can judge him if you've never been through what he's been through. If he feels at home enough in his church to express himself amongst his church family, let him. He didn't ask to be thrust in the national spotlight. He was minding his own business, preaching, speaking all over the world, being praised for being a religious scholar, etc. The msm is the culprit here. Unless your name has been dragged through the mud and in a matter of a year, you go from being one of the most respected preachers in the country to one of the most hated, there is little room to judge. Dude is not perfect, he's pompous and arrogant, has done some questionable things (like affairs) and whatnot, but in the large scope of things, he is the VICTIM here, not the villain. He was prey for a dishonest, sensation-seeking predator (esp Sean Hannity, yuck). We must not forget that. Just my 2 cents

Comment: The argument is that this unaired McCain ad on Rev. Wright was supposed to make McCain defeat Obama. The ad contained the same old tired “Goddamned America” line and did not seem as any more effective/ineffective as all the other Republican Rev.Wright ads. Why was this one supposed to make a difference? Supposedly because it ended with the line “I am John McCain and I approve this message.” Go figure. My guess is that McCain was smart enough to know that approving an ad like that would lead to an even bigger defeat. http://abcnews.go.com/Blotter/Vote2008/story?id=639577 5&page=1

Comment: I agree with Boot & TGen. Dr. Wright is an extremely learned man of God. Yes, man of God. He preaches the Word. So 1906 & Grace 13_34 and others, please refrain from hurling hateful insults at him, his ministry and his calling. Unless you have had the opportunity to see him, know him in his entirety (the good, the bad and the ugly), I believe that your judgments of him are media-based. Read some of his works; listen to his messages...all of them not just the inflammatory, sensational fragments that media outlets play. No matter what President-Elect Obama did during the campaign or has started to demonstrate through his selections, I CAN see Rev. Wright's influence. I can see it in the confident manner in which he talks and even in the swagger in his walk. No matter how far the media forces P-E Obama to push away from Rev. Wright, it was God who set their relationship in motion and it is God who is continuing to use them BOTH to bring forth change. Can any of you please explain to me WHY the media continues to be concerned with "every word" that comes from Rev. Wright's mouth? If they are SOOOOOO concerned because he poses a threat to our way of life or whatever, where were they when he was preaching this same way and the same content over the last, uuum, ooooh let's say...35 YEARS?!?!?!?!? C'mon people...WAKE UP!

As a man slandered and drug through the mud I can't take issue with him referring to the ditz as a broad - he could have said worse. I believe too that he needs to once and for all walk away from this situation - at this point it gives him 5 more minutes in the spotlight. In no means did I imply that every word that comes out of Dr. Wright's mouth to be the Gospel of Christ...clearly it is not. But, why are we continuing to tear him apart? For those of us who are familiar with Rev. Wright, none of the things brought forth in the media are new to us. It's what has helped him put fire under the butts of people to move them beyond their situations into their destinies. It is who he is and what he does. Why must we all stand by and watch his public hanging?
Just like Huey's grammama said:"if we ain't saying something...." you get the picture. I just don't think that we need to sit around and pitch more gas on the fire. The media has enough oil connections to continue to set him ablaze.

You don't get in the pulpit and call names. It's ridiculous and he should know better. As far as Obama is concerned, he really needs to just let it go. A mature person would stop commenting period. He is old enough and experienced enough to know that once his controversial rhetoric became so public, Obama really had no choice but to distance himself from it if he wanted to win. Anybody with any sense would just let it drop. At this point Wright is working for the enemy and not God. God don't like [name-calling] ugly, especially from one of His own. Clearly this man's ego is wounded and he's being inappropriate as a result. At this point my comment about him has nothing to do with Obama and everything to do with a man of the cloth calling a woman a name, any name. The "confident manner and swagger in his walk" referred to by NdueCzon is that of Barack Obama, Sr., NOT REVEREND WRIGHT. It is the confident manner and swagger of the African Luo. Hence, the title of the book. And THIS makes it all the more tragic that his father is not here to see what happened. Jeremiah Wright is NOT Barack Obama's father.

Obama didn't stamp out all of the embers before Wright threw gas on the embers with his National Press Club performance and remarks causing Obama to have to tear asunder a relationship that had been beneficial to both men . . . . both men have lost much no matter the reasons . . . . . with regard to the "dumb broad" remark, our elders are not excused from being civil because they demonstrate role model behavior that we aspire to as future elders and our elders are most definitely role models to children and very young adults

These people say to themselves, "If that's the way church people act, I don't want to go there. I'm doing just fine out here in the world". When you present God in a negative way, you ARE doing the enemy's work for him. You are keeping people from God so he doesn't have to. When you are a teacher of God's word, you have to keep in mind that everything you say and do is being observed and will sometimes be a deciding factor in someone's decision to get saved. You can call it making him a god but that's not what I'm doing and I think you know that. Attitude reflects leadership. As the leader of his church, he is letting his flock think it's okay to call names. It is not okay. We learn in freakin kindergarten to not call names. How does a 70-yr old man not know this or teach it?

My POINT was that Barack Obama's personality, "confident manner and swagger" were already in place long BEFORE HE EVER MET Jeremiah Wright. My POINT was that the model for Barack Obama was NOT Jeremiah Wright but HIS FATHER. Even his mother (the woman who brought him into the world) said he was his FATHER'S son. My POINT was the Jeremiah Wright did NOT make Barack Obama the man he is today.

I would guess that the 6000K christians who followed Wright (including Obama til recently) don't share your view on Wright as well. They, just as you, are entitled to their own feelings about their own pastor. Clearly, it's not a church for you just like Falwell's anti-american rhetoric is not for others. Comment: I'm surprised that people on this board have negative opinions about a man who is speaking the truth; unless you have been asleep all your life in this country of hatred. It seem okay for any race but the African-American race to remember or be reminded of all the dirty lowdown things that people have done to our people because of our race. We are a lost race of people and history, why is that? Try opening your eyes to the truth. A man in america who's mother is white and father is African is called a black man. Why is that the case. My mother and father did not teach me to hate the people that hate my race nor did they teach me to love them either. Unless you have walked in Rev. Wright's shoe I don't think you will understand what this man knows.

Granted as a man of the cloth he could have found a more diplomatic way to verbalize it but I ain't mad at him for speaking his truth. No one person can dictate how another expresses themselves and in light of anybody black being gagged through this process - he now speaks. I also don't think the Rev. owes the little becky an apology - he hasn't insulted her but if she takes offense she can ask anyone with half a brain who listened to her how offensive she was - she'd never be able to stand it.

It is not to give Rev. Wright any kind of credit or kudos. It is what it is. I believe that P-E Obama always had the fire inside of him to dare to step out on faith to help usher in a change, but I am sure that if we were all free to be honest, that something Rev. Wright said in the time of their attendance at Trinity helped to stoke that fire. Whether it is perceived as something to mimic or something to shy away from, it was an influencing factor.

if mainstream media didn't report on this we would not be having this discussion.
Rev. Wright has and will ALWAYS speak his mind. I am SO positive he is not the ONLY clergy member saying some questionable things in the pulpit.
The church IS that place
where folks gather and discuss the Bible and the community
The church IS that place
where bold stances from God's point-of-view and man's come to a head and burst into an explosion or collective or new ways to deal with whatever is ailing "us" = the surrounding and/or supporting community
The church IS this place.
Rev. Wright's across America and the world are having some wonderful sermons on Barack's behalf.
Stop sleeping.
The media can beat a horse dead, then reincarnate it and make you think it never died at all.

Comment: "Wright has become an embarrassment to Trinity and to Christianity as a whole."

Wright is still hurt. It's evident. He is fighting a spiritual war and going toe-to-toe with a system set up to protect the genetic survival of those people who classify themselves as white. The systematic global domination of people of color, particularly those of African descent, through economics, education, entertainment, labor, politics, religion, law, sex and war is proving to be a formidable foe to our warriors on the path of truth, justice, equality and self-determination.

White supremacy is one god-damn, powerful and successful system to have ever been created and perpetuated on a conscious and sub-conscious level. I find it fascinating that the people who classify themselves as white and barely make up one/tenth of the world's population have physically, mentally and spiritually fcuked everyone else up on the planet.

Even though it's painfully obvious that the people who classify themselves as white have gross feelings of inadequacy and insecurity, they have masterfully duped the descendants of the original family into believing they are inferior to the point where these subjects will war with their own (including self-deprecation) to protect the interests of their oppressors.

If one knows the true history of Christianity, Wright would hardly be an embarrassment to this religion.

After all, Christianity was fundamental in the spread of white supremacy and many other deceptive practices to conceal the truth about the cosmology, real power and nature of indigenous peoples.

I send positive healing energy and vibrations to Rev Wright.

...and %*$! that dumb broad.

I'd expect more (tact? restraint?) from an ordained man of God. What happened to "judge not..." So Liz said something about him. What happened to "turn the other cheek"? THAT's the behavior I'd expect from a man of God, not this. Kinda hypoChristianish of him.

Comment: It's unfortunate that Rev. Wright continues to be judged by sound bites regardless how he continues to fall into the trap and tarnishes his own legacy. He is as others pointed out human, he is capable of being sarcastic, capable of saying not so nice things about perceived enemies (remember Elizabeth had a lot to say about him as well) he is capable of baiting the press since they now want to hang on his every word although he has been around since I was a little girl in the 70s, in fact his ministry took many U.C.C. members from our Church because Trinity was more progressive. Trinity has done a lot for the community and for it's members, but no one ever talks about that, I think Rev. Wright feels since he's darned if he does, darned if he doesn't and will definately be taken out of context whenever possible he is having a free for all. Rev. Wright is not hate-filled nor would his teachings cause anyone to stay away from Church, in Chicago we know Trinity Church and it's reputation, it is one of the largest Churches in Chicago and very affluent, the members are very intelligent contrary to what is being portrayed in the media and on websites. Any since when was any minister perfect, perhaps we should look at the overall body of work instead of what he is doing now (according to the media) and if we really feel that way then we won't listen to anyone unless they are perfect regardless of the message.

Comment: McNasty - it has nothing to do with him being "human" - clearly he is that. I look at it like this. I taught school for 7 years. I always considered everything I said and did and wore very carefully because I knew I was a role model to my students. I didn't call names because it's destructive and immature. Well, unless we were playing the dozens (I was a "young cool teacher") but that was different. I never cursed at them or around them. I never laid my hands on a student - even when I wanted to slap the taste out of his/her mouth. I taught some bad-azzed lil f*ckers so it was not easy. I did my best to exhibit how an adult should carry herself in the professional world. I am no saint but I do believe that I gave those kids a positive example of how an adult behaves. I think a minister has the same responsibility - you are an example and you have to consider that when you step into the pulpit as well as in the limelight. >Musb - why the double standard? You are all mad at Obama for freakin smoking but this dude can call names? Wazup with that?

If she wasn't "a Kennedy", I think she would still be fantastic. Now her brother, may he rest in peace, would not be such a good choice to me. He was foine, ya he'ah me, FOINE but not someone I'd want in Congress. I would've wanted him on a poster in my room w/his shirt off running through Central Park glistening with sweat. I would not want him making laws. I admire it that he had his magazine but I still would choose Caroline. I think she's pretty great. As much privilege as they had, I admire Jackie for doing all she could to keep them as grounded as she could. She was successful. Caroline is quality with or without the Kennedy name. But go ahead and bash me for saying that. Go 'head! LOL

Comment: Queenie> I understand your point and good for you and your ability to maintain, some people still aren't there yet, regardless of their age or profession, perhaps they will never be. I used to judge people by what I did because I felt if I can do it everyone can, then I realized, heck folks are looking at me and the things I don't do so well (like typing on the fly and being grammically correct, spelling well and not missing words LOL) plus I was always frustrated (not saying that you are.) I can only govern me and try not to have everyone mirror my exact standards, I decided to look at the person as a whole and determine what they were about from their total actions not just bits and pieces so for me Rev. Wright in spite of his faults has done a lot as a spiritual leader. Then again as mentioned before in some of my mangled posts, I don't expect perfection even from a Minister because it is impossible for him to be perfect, he is not GOD to state the obvious, even the Minister once he is called is a work in progress as people called are told to come as they are and imperfections are eventually worked out, Rev. Wright obviously is still working LOL. I do invite you to check out some of his sermons (not the hot ones that stay in the news, he wasn't even that fiery all the time) from the past to get a better view of him.

Comment: SD...yeah I have heard similar praise from the few Trinity members I know. Why we don't hear about the gud he does? That's easy, cuz yt folk (w/our help) deemed it irrelevant. There's an easy solution to not being subjected to a pastors fiery rhetoric...don't attend the church. Obama did..and did so for 20 years so yeah again...I'm not bothered by Wright's commentary. QB, I said I wouldn't want a POTUS who smokes cigs. Wright can smoke a pack a day and I wouldn't care. I wouldn't want a POTUS who calls women "dumb broads" in public. Wright can call women that all day. I didn't cast my vote for him. Is it a double standard? Of course it is. They do exist and unlike many, I'm not incapable of calling it so when I see it. Do I hold the POTUS to a higher standard than a pastor....uhm..yeah I do. BTW, did he say this in the puplit cuz the articles never mention "where" it was said. RE: Caroline. Uhm...it's because she's a Kennedy. There is no legislative bone in her history. But of course, becuz of her last name..she automatically qualified to be the senator of one of the largest states. Kinda reminds you of Hillary's default experience as well hunh? She's experienced becuz of her husband's last name. I don't dislike kennedy but Senator she should not be. More than nething my opposition is similar to Hillary's..enuff w/the damn dynasties. Sooner than later, we may as well just have the Clintons, Kennedys, and Bush's as King and Queen and have them make all appointments.

Comment: I have heard nothing but positive things about Trinity and Rev. Wright over the years constantly until the media tried to use their negative racist propaganda to destroy Obama and consequently Wright. I just think the man is disgusted and hurt that he had to be separated from Obama and his family. Unfortunately, it was wrong to use the pulpit to vent his anger but just as any other person people make mistakes. And as far as standards, dont never put high standards unless you cant put them on yourself. I dont care what title or status people have, please be mindful that no one is perfect and everyone who is human CAN FALL!!! I dont look at perfection in others if I myself cant hold myself accountable for those same standars. Be careful how u place someone under a microscope because if you had a chance to lead anything major and people see the most little minor fault in you, some of you would lose it and couldnt handle the pressure. But anyhows, Twenty years is a long time to be a part of a church family. During that time there I am sure there was some influence by Rev. Wright from those powerful sermons. One day I just hope that Obama and Wright would be able to talk again. For now, Wright just need to move on and keep doing God's work.

Comment: Musb - a lot of people who run for Congress don't have "experience" but that doesn't mean they won't be good at it. It really takes critical thinking, common sense and the ability to read to do it. Any of us could do it and do it well because we stay informed about the issues, we form opinions based on our knowledge and common sense. What's funny to me is how people in the McCain camp kept going on ad nauseum about Obama's lack of leadership experience. And all I kept thinking was that McCain ain't neva lead nuthin neither. Based on that criteria, Palin was more qualified than him and that's a colossal joke! That irritated me to no end. A lot of people run for office and they have no experience. They usually start out in the House first, though. I'll give you that Caroline gets bumped up because of her name but if she ran for a House seat I'm not sure you'd be so up in arms about it. I still think she's a fantastic choice. As for the whole President vs. Minister thing - we're gonna have to agree to disagree or we'll be bumping heads til we split them open - like "tastes great!" "less filling! etc. LOL

I think eyebrows would be raised if people knew I played "the dozens" w/my kids to the point of borrowing a "Snaps" book because I didn't know that many "yo mama" jokes. The other teachers I befriended as a teacher felt the same way about dealing with kids. It wasn't just me. We vented to each other so we wouldn't slap a child silly. The majority of teachers in all the schools I worked in (3) were good role models. It's called being a mature adult and I think most adults know better and exhibit it in general and in the workplace. That's why I get upset when I see someone act ridiculous. It really ain't that hard to follow a rule taught in kindergarten. "Name calling is bad." - it's not rocket science. Jeez. I have a co-worker who just called another "a horse's azz" and he looks like a d*mned fool for doing it because it's so immature. And I'm mature now so I didn't "tell on him" like the 8 yr old in me wanted to. LOL

Comment: Queenie> Perhaps I'm willing to give Rev. Wright a pass because I understand his actions, although admittedly he could have thought of a better approach, hurt people at times don't think about how they lash out and I still think foolishly Rev. Wright decided if you want to talk about me let me give you something to talk about. I feel sad that this is how he is allowing himself to be judged and that we are jumping right on it not seeing the man as a whole. Perhaps because I'm forever seeing people act less than professional these days, so many things I give it pass unless it is truly detrimental. I've been in the workforce since 1978 and standards have been slipping each year, not that it's right, just seemingly the way of the world. Again kudos to you for keeping the standards especially since you were in the position to influence young people---hmmm perhaps that is the difference--- IMO Rev. Wright is among grown ups so certainly at this point you can discern the appopriate behavior withour having to have an exact role model for every little thing. Anyway, I try to keep my standards heck I'm in management talking on the internet instead doing my work right now, and that is considered unprofessional LOL, Oh well I pick and chose professionalism obviously but for the records I don't call people out of their names (in front of their faces LOL) but I understand (sometimes.)

Queenie says that she knew that she couldn't just go up in the classroom actin' a fool. Now, if she was good enough and smart enough to know that AND act on it and set the positive example, why can't Wright? I ain't mad at him. I agree with his comment! I know he's only human n' all, but he should know that he's under a mega-microscope now. If Obama didn't win, nobody would care. But since 'Bama did win the election, those folks who ain't happy about it are just waitin' for Wright to slip so they can play the guilty-by-association card. Wright better wash his hands each and every single time he goes to the loo or next week, we'll be readin' about that and how Obama probably doesn't wash his hands either.

At least Palin was actually a mayor, sat on the council and was governor. Kennedy just needs to sit this out IMO. I will say this tho...if Kennedy can be considered as a viable choice based on her lack of experience...JJacksonJr must be a shoe-in. The question for me is whether "democrats" will push JJ's candidacy like they are pushing kennedys. One currently serves as a congressman..the other has never. Any guess about who'll get the biggest push from their party?

How do you tell someone with a disease, "Sorry but you ain't gettin cured. Oh well."??? I was like WTF????!!!! My older bro has been given "passes" his whole life for being a f*ckin azzhole and quite frankly, I'm tired of them being given out. People need to think before they let total bullsh*t pop out their mouths. It's called having a filter and at 38 my stupid-azzed self proclaimed azzhole older brother is old enough to have one and Wright at 70 is old enough to know better, too. So perhaps you are right but right about now I want to snatch up all the passes and put them in the paper shredder. I get tired of taking the high road, too but it's the right thing to do. My lil bro told me to stay on the high road so I can push a bolder on the people below traveling on the low one. Yup. I think I'll do that. And yeah, I'm a lil hostile and angry today. Comment: SweetieDarlin on point! We cannot use ourselves as yardsticks for how we think someone else should act. The fact that he has lead this church for so many years without it becoming mainstream news speaks volumes. Not one media entity bothered to go and sit in the pews to hear for themselves the context of his preach - the snippets were enough for them to sensationalize out of this world and they never bothered to look back. That would bother me too!

I have mad respect for them for that. When I think of all the mess either/both could've started yet didn't, I am so proud of both of them for having sense enough to put their egoes in their back pockets and staying on the low. But, nah. Jesse couldn't do that and neither could this man. That press club thing was pure vanity and it made me sick. And Jesse and his big ig'nant mouth makes it difficult for his boy but he still runs his mouth. If that was my dad, I'd snatch his azz up and lock him in a room but with my dad I wouldn't have to because he has sense and knows when to talk and when to shut up. I don't know much about Jesse Jr. but I've heard good things so I hope he does get it. He definitely has the experience. And he also has name recognition. Comment: Queenie who are we to even think we have been positioned to 'pass' or 'fail' anyone? Thats where we err - thats not for us to say - all we can do is post our thoughts or opinions but a 'pass'? what the hell is that anyway? The same was said yesterday on the MV board and I thought WTF? We take too many liberties with other folks misdeeds and missteps forgetting that we all make them, we're just not public figures and the media isn't afforded the opportunity to blow them out of proportion. The fact that they are public figures makes them no less mistake proof and they prove it everyday - its some of us that need to back up off that jazz. Its good you were the check for yourself and at some quiet moment Rev. Wright might regret what he said - I doubt it cause thats what he felt and thats what he said.

I thought about all y'all are saying about watching Wright before I judge so I watched this - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RvMbeVQj6Lw - but it still made me uncomfortable to hear him say "God damn America" over and over and over again to make a point. I also watched for almost 4 minutes before he even made a Bible reference or talked about God. It was like a history lesson. I guess I'm used to my pastor. He pretty much stays on point and on message. Sure he gives anecdotes and talks a little about current events but he stays neutral. All he told us was to vote and exercise our right to do so. Clearly this man has a following and that's good and all, I guess but Eddie Long and Cashflow Dollar and Jimmy Falwell and Benny Hinn have one too so that really isn't a good litmus test for me. Jim Jones and Hitler had followings but that doesn't mean I want to follow them. And no, I'm not calling Wright Hitler. Let me say it again - I'm NOT calling him Hitler. I'm just saying that just because someone is charismatic it doesn't make that person right.

Comment: QB...Obama asked us to give the Clintons a "pazz" on their abhorrent behavior during and after the campaign. As far as I can see, that's what happened. We gave an adulterous president a pazz on failing his duty to uphold the office of the POTUS. We continued the pazz when he campaigned for his wife...even though his old azz should've known better. Moreover, out of about 760 or so days during the campaign, Wright injected himself in two of them. JJackson injected himself into ONE of them. No he shouldn't be silent and neither should have Farrakhan or Wright. Unlike you, I'll give ALL of them credit for staying out of it to the extent they did when they ALL could have done or said much worse and I don't believe an ego or lack thereof has nething to do w/it (considering their penchant for provocative commentary) So my respect for them all remains intact. JJ has been a Congressman for 10 years and I'm sure his name helped him immensely. I doubt he gets the push that Caroline is getting.

Neither did Wright saying God D amn America. Seems like you're holding Wright to the same standard that yt folks held him to and their nonexamination of the black church. Because your pastor has a certain style..then any pastor that falls outside of that is somehow the anti-christ. No, I'm not suggesting that you believe Wright is the AC. But, you'll get nowhere fast comparing your worship to ne1 else's. It'll end up sounding like the age old "fire and brimstone/pentacostal/sthrn baptist" vs. episcopal/presbyterian argument w/one side saying their side is better or "more appropriate."

Comment: Oh okay you like clean linen sermons. I like fiery sermons and I like that I have a relationship with the church and the pastor and he has one with his flock and community. Thats a pastor that will speak truth to power and thats what Rev. Wright does. Granted when he did the press conference and a few other public appearances outside the pulpit I thought he should be smacked upside the head but Obama is President Elect now and cannot be touched by anything that the Rev. says. I have a pastor similar to Rev. Wright (no he prolly wouldn't have said God damn Amerikkka) but if the situation called for it I would have taken it like he meant it. My pastor told our congregation that he would be casting his vote for Obama, listed his reasons and let us know that he believed that there really was a higher power at work. After Jim Jones and Ghana folks ought to be more intelligent than to just follow someone blindly and then too, we will always have those that follow cause they can't lead, those that follow cause they don't want to find the way for themselves and I can't and won't take any responsibility for how they take any word. But for damn sure I don't want a 'neutral' pastor - I want one that gets down and dirty with the truth, one that will call you out when necessary. I want an educated pastor - not one that was just called and accepted because they couldn't find anyone else and Lord one that isn't stuck in the 50s with hellfire and brimstone. I go to church to feed my spirituality and to get the knowledge that I feel I need. I can't imagine sitting there for 3 hours getting a 'neutral' sermon.

Point being that we all understand that an opinion is like a ___, everybody has one, right? I get that but see, this is a message board designed for us to give our opinions so why do people on here, in this case you, feel the need to pull that out when you see fit? I don't get that. So you don't like what I say. Okay. That's your, um opinion but why tell me I can't state mine just because you don't like it? So yeah, in my world I give passes but so does everybode else. Think of it like this - you have a friend that you give passes to for certain behaviors. After awhile, you stop because you realize that friend is really a jerk so you revoke the "pass" and end the friendship. How is that any different than me saying I think dude shoulda kept his big mouth shut? Comment: Wow, a lot of posts. It's the end of the day, but I just have to clear up a couple things before I depart, lol. Queenibunz, 1) Wright didn't use God's name in vain. The context he used "damn" in was as a verb, ie God [should] bless America vs. God [should] damn America..for its bad deeds towards under countries (he was trying to explain the 9/11 attacks and 2) I did NOT say "who cares about your opinion" in the context of the posts here! The issue was JURY DUTY. I said that it doesn't matter what you "Think" in terms of judging a criminal case, it only matters what is proven by the prosecution. Hope that clears up things for you.

Comment: Ummm... Is Reverend Wright really a pastor or is it JUST in title only! His language is unwarranted and as a man of God, who has been chosen, he sould know better. Tone it down Reverend!

Comment: musbdherbs> It's been a while Herb, but J. Jackson a shoe in, now you know I was going to post. Are you on crack?? The same Jackson that dogged Bararck on the FoxNews all while using the "N" word. Even his son was embarrassed that he had to denounce his own father. The same man who stepped out on his wife while making a mockery of his cause. J. Jackson time has passed, we don't need that. I think he should look at the new & up incoming diversed Americans, J. Jackson get the hell out of here! peace

Comment: Elizabeth has referenced Rev. Wright as a non-patriotic, a Marxist, a communist, a hate-monger and everything but the child of God and there is a news story on him referencing her as a "dumb broad." I have called her much worst and have the utmost respect for Jeremiah Wright. I like a person who says what they mean and mean what they say. And like Mother said, he held his tongue in check while the Senator was on his bid for the White House. We now have president-elect Obama and Jeremiah Wright can pretty much say what the fock he wants to say.

Comment: Ladybyrd, Musbd was talking about Jesse Jackson JR, not Sr. that would be a shoe in. Tgen thank you for pointing out that Rev. Jerimiah Wright was not taking the Lord's name in vain, I was about to post the same thing. I wish people would do research, NO Rev. Wright isn't a honorary pastor, nor is he a jacklegged preacher, please look up Trinity Church in Chicago, and get the credentials, and the history, man people and the media WHEW!

Comment: My oh My, this has been a very busy time in the Sandlot today! hehehehehe. Preachers are Preachers, some better than other's. Most 80% correct on the life we live and how we are living it. No matter how you slice it folks, Rev's Wright/Sharpton/Jackson have been dead right on a lot of the issues facing folks in these days and times. However, I truly believe that Our New President, didn't replace his teachings with him in whole. He will always respect that aspect of being within his Congregation! Now... As for Miss Liz, the $itch is you Nasty! Look up the word "Straight Stupid" and you will find at least 9, 8X10 pictures of her. She's not welcomed in the Sandbox!

Comment: Harriet> Pastors has a calling. They are not suppose to be like you and I. They were called by Christ, so I was told as a child. So I expect more from Reverend Wright, but I think he has let the street change him, instead of him changing the street.

Comment: SweetieDarlin> Thanks for the correct between Jr. & Sr. I'm sorry to tell you but it's Wright you decided to go on a media tour during the campaign and after. I think he likes the attention that he's getting. The church itself has done wonderful work for the communities & black colleges respectfully. I think everyone on the board knows that about him, unfortunately as of late that has been overshadowed by his rants. <shrugging shoulders> Personally, I wish he would take a break or those close to him who is not into drama need to pull him to the side, instead of flaming the fire.

Comment: musbdherbs> He probably didn't think Wright would act a fool. He probably thought that he would have some class and dignity. Usually, that what you want from your Pastor.
