Name: sultry
Comment: Just because a house is listed as foreclosure , it does not meant thta the home will truly be foreclosed on. You have 30 days to come up with the money and it have to run in the paper legally for that time and if you do not come up with the payments to bring it up to date with the attorney fees and late charges then it can be sold on the courtyard steps the first Tuesday of the month. So just because your home may have the process of foreclosure started it does not mean anything that you will lose your home. It is not that that people do actually lose a home once it has gone into foreclosure. There are steps tht have to be taken but it still have to be publically advertised once it have gone to that step. I am sure that she will save her home as well as Fantasia. For all we know she may have already caught up the payment before this was printed.

Name: Gurlfrand
Comment: Hopefully that's true, sultry, in Tboz and Fantasia's case - remember that big expensive house back in the 90's that MC Hammer lost - it was fabulous - he was interviewed years later and said that in retrospect, or if he had to do it over again, he wouldn't buy a home that expensive and something less expensive would have done fine - maybe start off with a home around 300-400 (this was back in the late 80's early 90's, of course) and not in the millions, now, all of that investment is down the toilet - when you get foreclosed on or have your property repossessed, you don't get that initial money back - it's lost.....

Comment: dayum...hope it not true, i always liked tboz...seems to be a cool sista....nice lips too, hummm, huey thinks he would like to sleep in a bed unclothed with her now that he thinks about it...

Comment: Her azz bettah get out there and sing some dayum songs...Call fuccing Chi-Chi and sing, sing, sing dammit or be out in the streets...Call yourselves TC...Call Hammer and see if he wants to join up...Call yourselves THC...Hammer can still dance and spit a lil bit....

Name: TGen
Comment: Taurus, I had the same reaction, "WTF?" This is sad but not terribly surprising, when we remember that back in the day all the members supposedly went broke for mismanagement of their funds, this was AFTER a lot of their hit records. I think they had to write up another deal or something to get back on track. I hear you Sultry, but even the fact that it has to get to THIS point is sad, and how embarrasing it must be! Wow. I wish her and all the people in trouble (there are about to be a lot more folks losing their homes now that the Auto Bailout didn't go through, brace yourself yall) well.

Name: MOTHERSHIP
Comment: Hey, it is what it is. You're gonna find alot of folk downsizing and whatnot before it's all over.

Name: huey
Comment: (in his best jack nicolson voice, eyebrows raised, strange little jack nicolson smirk on my face)...."heyyyy tboz, u can move in with hueyyyy, but when we go to bed, u gotta take alll your clothes offff"

Name: MOTHERSHIP
Comment: Now, there YOU go, Huey! LOL!

Name: McNasty
Comment: When you know you're not making enough money to sustain your lifestyle I wonder why these folks just keep hanging on. Not having made anything for a while should have been the indicator to put this expensive house up for sale long before it got to this point. No matter - she'll land on her feet - somehow they always do.

Name: McNasty
Comment: LOL! Keep it up Huey you're gonna get some kind of cyberstd!lmao

Name: Disillusioned_Jones
Comment: Huey, I ain't even mad at you...T-Boz is a cutie and she looks like she got some soft skin. It's a shame what's going down and goes to show that this economic strife is touching everybody's pockets. I wish her and everyone going through prayers that we all get through these tough times...

Name: nightshift
Comment: Why is my first reaction is to laugh? Being a cancer, "home" is my base. I for damn-sure would have made sure "where-my-head-laid-was-paid". It's ain't not sin to live in a condo or an upscale trailer. I can;t live beyond my means 'cause I don't have any!!

Name: DCGG
Comment: Oh well, bytch I got a room for rent...no smoking, no kids, no dogs/cats and no talking back...

Name: NYCsoul
Comment: Why don't didn't they just buy their homes cash?

Name: B00TANEB00TUS
Comment: T-Boz shoulda took that job at the post office until she recorded s'more hits...Hell, she coulda worked 3hrs at UPS...I agree McNasty, if the money stops coming in, ya gotta have a plan B...She shoulda known her money was getting low and sold the house before this sh1t....I read the tea leaves and downsized like a muthafuccer...Sold the big house got a smaller townhouse...Who needs all those dayum rooms?...The kitchen, bedroom, studio and bathrooms...

Comment: The problem is that many artists don't seem to have good advisors. Any professional artist should approach their finances much in the same way that professional athlete should. Regardless of how good you "think" you are or how much commercial success you are having, you have to realize that your success is only for a time. Probability suggests that most artists/athletes will not be able to "perform" for a long time. Depending on the sport, professional athletes may play on average for 2-4 years. Their financial advisors should be approaching it from a worst case scenario. If the money is managed correctly, that athlete can be set for life, even if their playing time comes to a halt, because they got cut or hurt. Same thing with musicians. One or two good records could set them up for life IF the money is managed correctly. Rather than floss with a whole bunch of ridiculous clothes, cars, and jewelry, the goal should be buying a house outright so that you won't have a mortgage and the only thing you have to worry about after the gigs stop coming is paying real estate taxes. $500,000.00 is not that much money in the relative sense to how much these TLC girls may have made over their careers. But the focus should have been to buy certain appreciating %*$ets (like the home) outright so that you can still live in the house of your choice forever, even when the money well dries up.

Name: TGen
Comment: Co-sign NYCsoul and Exmun. Exmun, great insight. What I don't get is that it just seems like common sense to me, and there are sooo many examples to learn from, you'd think people would be extra cautious with their funds to not descend down the same road as their predecessors. You'd think they wouldn't even need an advisor to tell them they need to be frugal up front so they can be worry-free later. *Shrug*

Name: Southernbelle
Comment: WTF?!?!? How many cd's have TLC sold? and T-Boz can't afford a $500,000 home. Oh hell no, I'm not believing this! They must have confused her with Tyrone Rollo Watkins because Tionne ain't no scrub.

Name: 6footah
Comment: I thank God for everything I have, including this month's mortgage payment. Things are no joke, ya'll.

Name: WordUp
Comment: Hey, sumthin messed up about people knowin your bizness. If anyone is about to lose their home, celebrity or not, it shouldn't be the general public finds out about it. That should be considered private information. Damn, buy a house and errybody know yo bizness. Includin where you live at! Messed up!

Name: Stephanie
Comment: The sad part is, she's made enough money to where she didn't even have to have a mortgage. A couple of good investments would have been wise but oh well...

Name: B00TANEB00TUS
Comment: ...I guess some of 'em think they'll never get old or go outta style...And that they can always drop a CD or go on a reality show...I thought T-Boz owned a carwash...

Name: queeniebunz
Comment: I think this is all about the playground, as most things are. It's peer pressure. When you're on a certain level and you're insecure, you live beyond your means because people have certain expectations of you and as an insecure person you want to be viewed favorable by others so you keep up the facade of wealth until you can't anymore and things like this happen. Teddy Riley, MC Hammer, TLC back in the day, Toni Braxton, Fantasia, Aretha Franklin, Mary Wells, Jackie Wilson, and many others have all had very public money problems. There is actually a home for poor artists because so many end up penniless and homeless - like Eddie Kane in "The Five Heartbeats" - sing it w/me y'all, "Nights like this, I wish, raindrops would fall-al-al-al-al..."

Name: McNasty
Comment: I second that 6footah!

Name: queeniebunz
Comment: And let me "third that" if there is such a thing with a sista girl, "I know that's right!"

Name: Mas90
Comment: Taurus... T-boz and Mack10 been done, divorced years ago! Where you been?

Name: Teigh
Comment: Huey...you got a big ole bed!

Name: Mas90
Comment: Remember ya'll in the VH-1 Left Eye special she broke it down how much each member was making from record sales which was only a couple hundred thousands. Of course this didn't include tour sales but Left Eye said they weren't making much after they had to split it 3 ways. So I understand why NE had to do what they did.

Name: TGen
Comment: I "fourth" that 6footah. So thankful...

Name: B00TANEB00TUS
Comment: Ok OB, what's this place called?...Fallen Star retirement village....

Comment: I just read on Yahoo Entertainment news that Wylceaf John unfinished house is up for auction today in Miami Beach after going into forecloscure. DAMN a lot of celebrities are having bad credit scores today!!!! I got better credit than Wyclef John!!!! LOL!

Comment: Exmun...good advice. But, the key is finding advisors you can trust. There have been several stories throughout the years of athletes and entertainers who have been taken to the cleaners by their advisors. Bottomline, no one is going to look out for your best interests better than you. So while I advocate hiring top notch financial planners, business managers, agents and the like, MAKE sure all of those mofos know they work for you and NOT the other way around. And don't get me started on folks signing these indentured servant type recording contracts and damn near giving away their publishing rights. In a nutshell, TLC was selling out arenas and posting mult-platimu album sales but their contract situation was jacked which meant they didn't receive a fraction of what they deserved. Anyhoo, while I feel for T-Boz -- I hope she learns a lesson from this so she doesn't go down this road again. 6footah...I 5th that girl. MzTee is very thankful, er'ryday.

Comment: MzTee: "And don't get me started on folks signing these indentured servant type recording contracts and damn near giving away their publishing rights..." I saw "Cadillac Records" yesterday and that line in your post reminded me of a situation in that movie (it's about the ins and outs of the music biz in general and Chess Records specifically back in the 50's). One of the musicians who had his money together told the other one who was playing Muddy Waters that he should know the feeling of not having a "money daddy," of being a man in control of his own life, etc. It was one of those light-bulb moments. Your post reminded me of it. Good stuff...

Name: MzTee
Comment: TGen...would you recommend going to see "Cadillac Records?" I'm not a Beyonce fan, which is why I haven't gone to see it.

Comment: These celebs need to get financial advisors to help with financial management. They too have to realize that their fortune won't live as long as their fame.

Name: indipindintthnkr
Comment: Keysha Coles could stand to learn this lesson. Shes got so many ppl sponging off of her and if her voice goes in 2 years she'l be in the same situation

Name: Cappaucino
Comment: For the record each memeber only got 50 thousand dollars. The record company ripped them off....

Name: Exmun
Comment: Most artists (especially groups and medium-success to low-success artists) make the bulk of their money on merchandising and touring. A hot record is a bridge to be able to go on tour, where they make the bulk of their money. Typically only the artists with the highest grossing record sales or those with lesser sales who write their own songs and own their publishing will make money "off the record sales." Performance royalties (from radio airplay) and mechanical royalties (from fixing a copyrighted song onto a record/CD) typically pays as much as a typical artist might make on the CD with no deductions. So while there are deductions to an artist's royalty (like video costs, promotional tour expenses, hold back for returns, etc) the money received by the songwriter comes with zero deductions. One can easily see why the game does not favor the artist unless said artist is selling a bazillion records/CDs. With the advent of CD ripping programs, file sharing websites, and other forms of piracy, and whack "junk food" music, most successful artists aren't selling anywhere the type of numbers they once did. So the game is even further tilted against the artist. That's why an artist has to be shrewd about making certain investments for the future. Being a professional recording artist is not the same as working a career or profession that civilians like most on this board work. You HAVE to approach being an artist as a temporary thing. Doing anything different is operating at your own risk.

Name: Taurusingr
Comment: To all who WERE concerned?..I KNEW T-Boz & Mack were divorced...ok!?? I was speaking on the fact that he has a CHILD with her! So why NOT lend a hand to keep his CHILD from being.....homeless! Ahiiiiiight!? Peace!

Name: allaboutlydia
Comment: Exum you hit the nail on the head. Michael Jordan knew that being an athlete was a temporary gig. He used his fame to springboard into other business ventures. Same thing with Magic Johnson.
