Comment: I hope she considers but if not I understand. She has experienced the most tragic incident that many of us can't even fanthom. It is not easy. I suggest these people: Mary j. Blige, Yolanda Adams, Alicia Keys, Celine Dion, Mariah Carey and Jill Scott.

Comment: That would be so incredibly cool - after all she's been through. It would hold enormous significance for her - being from Chicago and Obama being a community organizer then State Senator then U.S. Senator from Chicago then PRESIDENT. I hope she does it. It will be something she can look back on through all the pain she's experienced and someday smile about.

Comment: i think it would be great if she did this. the spirit of her mother and brother and nephew would probally want her to do it and they will be so proud. and plus, it would be good for her to do so. it would strengthen her spiritually and give her peace and triumph. sometimes when God gives you a wonderful gift such as hers and you face tragedy and dispair, you use your gift for healing strength and closure. a lot of creative people do that and it makes them %*$ail to higher heights. Jen-Jen baby, go on and Sing! Sing for your loved ones, sing for your new President but most of all, sing for yourself! the spirit of your Mama will shine through you and heal you at the same time.

Comment: I think he wants her because she is from Chi-town, she's a big supporter and She has sung it before on the big stage. Now, with that said, I don't know about Jill School. This is a Neo-Soul sister, but I have never heard her belt out the National Athem, nor Mary J, though I love them both. If Jennifer can't do it, I'm sure she will, I could see Celine Dion, Mariah or Beyonce (without all the acrobatics. Where is Whitney?? This job would have definitely gone to her. Her version is on the top 3 rendention of most popular. Whitney hit it out of the park that day.

Comment: THANK YOU STEPHANIE. and that came straight from my heart and experience too. when i was in college, my father was murdured and i saw the picture of him lying in a pool of blood. i was in theatre then and i had to do a performance but i remembered his memory of being the best father i ever had and that kept me going so through tragedy you triumph becuase you summon that spirit of your loved one to shine through. LADYBYURD>yeah i agree. i can see Celine, or it would be nice if Whitney can do it and yes, she did belt out that Star Spangled Banner at the superbowl. it was unforgettable so she would be great also. but if Jen-Jen could do it, it would be wonderful too.

Comment: ReginaBio1 - you are so right. I heard Mary J Blige live and she was awful. Girl cannot sing. SHe is definately a studio singer. I've heard Beyonce live and she was not much better. Jill Scott can sing but like anohter poster said she is a neo-soul singer but who knows perhaps she can swing it. I like Alicia but not for the type of powerhouse singing that would be required to belt this song. Whitney would have been the best choice. Celine Dion and Mariah are good choices. He should consider Barbara Streisand - the lady can really blow and she threw a huge fundraiser for him. I also like the girl who played in Mama I want to sing (name starts with a T).. that girl can sing.

Comment: If Jennifer does it, I'm sure she will do it well. Athough I must say, that I wish everyone would stop trying to add their own twist to the song. Few can pull that off. Just sing it straight. BTW, Celine isn't an American citizen, so I don't think she stands a chance in hell of being asked.

When 9/11 bombing happen all the radio stations in Seattle played different rendention of Star Spangled Banner (Whitney Houston), America The Beautiful (Ray Charles, etc. But it was when they played Whitney, they announced that it was in the Top 3 rendentions of the song. On that day my eyes teared when they played it and you could look over in others car and they were tearing as well. They also gave a tidbit about the song when Whitney recorded it, they kept stopping her because it sounded TOO GOSPEL, so she said that she went over it again. You know that girl is from the church choir. Come back when your healthy Whitney.
