Comment: Boot, that's the problem with Beyonce, she's so successful now, she has begun to believe the "hype" and has forgotten the "struggle" if she ever knew it at all. Joe Jackson did use his kids to help the family prosper, but, it ain't like Joe didn't know his kids were talented - so did Eterline Debarge, George Osmond, the Sylvers parents, the Wolfgramm Family-the Jets, and many other large musically talented families. Beyonce should be very careful what she say's to the media......

Comment: B00TANEB00TUS.. this is one of the first times we've been in agreement.. I have to mark this date (5 Jan 09)...the one thing about the Jacksons...they treat other artist with respect...no matter how mean and rude others are to them... if there wasn't a Jackson... believe me Beyonce would not have had a career...everyone is on their high horse now.. because Mijac kick down the doors to change the game... his beginning was the J5 but solo he took it to another level that help introduce hip/hop culture(gang members in videos) to the main stream and husher in all those arttist we hear today... Beyonce needs to know her place...I have great respect for the Jackson family..becuz they have through it and are still standing.. Ms Knowles need to know how to "humble" her self.

Believe you me, you can tell that sort of thing, so either Daddy Dearest pulled her out before graduating or her azz is lying. Comment: Matthew Knowles took more than a leaf from the Joe Jackson play book. He pimped Beyonce out to the world. She did that lap dance on Terrence Howard with her parents sitting in the audience all smilesdoes this (no dignity, no grace). The Knowles were not upper class, they were middle class at best. Her mother ran a hair shop and her father was a bottom line salesman for Xerox. They were not able to afford the lifestyle they currently revel in. How dare she rag on the Jacksons whose success and showmanship she CAN NEVER MATCH! She better hope she can have the longevity of Janet Jackson.

Comment: Sme people don't know when to keep their mouths shut [Beyonce]! No matter how much some of us clown the Jackson's people here in this forum have the utmost respect for them because they paved the way for a lot of artist -> yes, even some of the up and comers, too! So for her to make this comment is really troubling, since I have never read any articles with her bashing others? No matter what - Joe Jackson and other father's did what they had to do to get their children noticed and it worked because the world got the chance to witness their greatest triump...VICTORY!!! If Beyonce did say this, then she really need to refrain from making statements of this caliber because it tends to lead to catastrophe and downright 'mess'! No matter what - it's Janet that paved the way for her to do the things she's doing now and the word humble and respect goes a long way than forgetting you are not on a 'high horse' and if you are then you need to grab reins and saddle properly! Nuff said!

Comment: Up until now I had no problem with Beyonce but she done torn her drawers now if she really said that about the Jackson family. Yes, the Jackson's talents got their family a better life and they were pushed by Joe but what was he supposed to do? I guess Joe should have said we got 9 kids, one income, living in poverty because the job can't support the kids, the kids have talent but why don't we just stay right here. Heck the Jacksons weren't the first kids to support their family (The Silvers, The Jets, The Cowsills, The Osmonds, DeBarge, DiFrancos etc.) it's almost the American way in show biz. I'm hoping that comment was taken waaay out of context if not Beyonce boycott (LOL like I bought her CDs anyway but NOW I REALLY won't.) Everbody knows that the Jacksons are f*cked up and Joe rode their azzes like prize winning thorobreds to the finish line, but don't think just because your dad had a Jag that he didn't ride that azz, too. If not, he wouldn't have quit his job and put all of his focus on you. Why have a Jag, when you can use your kid to get a Gulfstream... If anything, it shows your daddy was greedy. Comment: Angel, actually back in the day there were several Jacksons that had good voices, Michael was just the most dynamic because he was the youngest member of the group. Jermaine could sing, so could Tito and Jackie wasn't bad. As they progressed all eyes were on Michael. Actually when you hear early, early Michael Jackson he wasn't that good, he was just good because he was a kid, and the Jacksons were for kids at the time. Yes! I was 8 when the Jackson 5 first came out and listening to it now I applaud my mom for not banishing me to the garage listening to the Jackson Five all fricking day---Michael's voice to an adult when he was also 8 or 9 was grating.

Comment: Soulmusic101> I didn't mean to come off as dismissing their talents, I was commenting on Angel's comment that Michael made the Jackson's and I don't completely agree because hearing the vocals from Michael as an adult was not the same as it was when I was a child, back then I would have said he was the best singer in the world. I feel the Jackson FAMILY was talented not just Michael and yes they gave a fabulous show each and every time I saw them in at the Amphitheater and Mill Run in Chicago. I stand by the comment they were a kiddie group but they appealed to adults and when I say kiddie I mean the way they were initially marketed in Teen Magazines like Tiger Beat, Right On etc. They weren't exactly asking the Temptations, Stevie Wonder or Smokey Robinson and the Miracles (perhaps they asked in the early 60s when those groups had younger members) their favorite color, their favorite food and what kind of girl they liked those kind of interviews are usually reserved for kids reading the magazines. The music changed as they got older but before it was the innocence of songs you give to children and young adults to sing (except on their first album when they did the Motown standards like Whose Loving You) such as ABC, The Love you Save. I guess I'm on Michael's voice because I was listening to the Jacksons Anthology CD this weekend and Michael's younger voice just didn't hit like it did when I was young (but it doesn't mean that he wasn't talented, just his voice was for kids back then like Another Bad Creation when they came out in the early 90s.)

Comment: Beyonce is guilty of the same thing as many young celebs; talking to much. Studios need to go back to coaching; that goes for both movies and record companies. A lot of the old school performers were well coached on how to give interviews. No matter how big of a fool or bitchy they may have acted behind the scenes, once the camera was rolling or the mic turned on, they knew what to say and what not to say. Now days, these kids' PR people will just feed them to reporters who can easily make them look like fools. It is not uncommon for young, hot performers to get a big head in regards to someone who came before them. I bet back in the day, Aretha probably thought the same about someone who came before her, but she just had the good sense never to say it or not to let some reporter trip her up in an interview.

As far as others beyond Michael having solo success, that wasn't the structure of the group. The group revolved around its centerpiece, Michael, which was clear from the outset. But the other members were essential to execute the entire live experience. As far as Janet goes, IMO history shows her success was heavily dependent on the production of Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, who gave her her sound. But Beyonce's criticism was more of Katherine and Joe ("...I didn't have parents using me to get out of a bad situation....") than of the Jackson children.

Comment: Musb> The Temptations and the Supremes had bad starts in the point that they did not have good songs to showcase their talents, they didn't have hit records until later. Unfortunately even with skills you are only as good as the song and the production and the song almost has to be what people are used to listening to, in a lot of cases a song could be good but if isn't the style some people are used to hearing it isn't going anywhere. Think of Mary J. Blige starting out if she didn't have the right song to showcase her voice in the proper frame. A whole lot a talented people fall by the wayside either because they don't have the right song or the songs sound to foreign to the masses (i.e. Van Hunt, Javier, Sy Smith et al)

Comment: "B got some nerve, everybody wanna shyt higher than their azz. Janet need to check her slow." This overrated chick needs to keep negative remarks out of her mouth when it comes to Black America's Iconic musical family. So what, she went to private school. So did Budheiser heiress, Cindy McCain, who is even dumber than Sarah Palin! If Beyonce is the product of private school, than she must have missed every d.a.m.n. day of school. I've seen and heard her speak, and let's just say she isn't the quickest or brightest! Joe Jackson was a mofo when it came to getting his children recognized. However, your father appears to be a lower dog than Joe, no mean feat by any means. You don't want to open Pandora Box because we might see more of a mess in your family than Janet's. And the dumb broad put it in writing. If I were Janet, I'd set up a meeting just to slap those blond tracks out of your empty head!

Comment: There was absolutely no reason for Beyonce to even bring up the Jacksons. She could have made her point without mentioning them at all. And, I agree 100% with the person who wrote the Knowles are due a refund if Beyonce went to private school because there is no indication in her demeanor nor speech to indicate she went to private school. Regarding the Jacksons and who had the most talent, Michael was definitely the star but he needed the others as well to play their part in supporting positions. The Jackson 5 was the first concert I ever went to when I was 5 years old and they gave a great show and each Jackson had an opportunity to showcase his talent. And, I disagree with whomever wrote that Michael's voice just okay as a child...NOT. His voice was far and away much better than any child's. Hell, I actually like his voice as child better than I like his voice as an adult...but, even as adult his voice is much better than most of what's out now.

Comment: BeYawnSay who did you use to get ahead?
Didn't your pappy pimp you and underage girls in high heel pumps dancing and gyrating and popping your money maker to get ahead? >>Private school? Really? This ignorance coming from a chick who can formulate a coherent sentence. Matthew Knowles stole DC, used the girls and is pimping his daughter to pay for his bottom-hoe and to put food and clothing on their table. BeYawnSay steals and copies from artists and lies with a straight face because her ego is just too damn big for reality. WHILE SHE'S WORRIED ABOUT THE JACKSONS she should have been investing energy in selling one million copies to make her pappy proud and his pockets fatter. But because she is so hell-bent on separating herself from the fray, she's drifting into obsoletion and wants to now drum up bullsh&T for the spotlight because her days are numbered. Out of respect for the Jacksons, AT LEAST JANET HAD THE SENSE TO BREAK AWAY FROM JOE AND CARVE HER OWN DESTINY. BeYawnSay needs to take note from Janet how to become an icon.

Comment: As far as talent goes, we'll see 20 years from now if Beyonce can still put on a good show in her 40's as Janet can right now in her 40's. As far as straight-up vocals go, I'll give the points to Beyonce over Janet. BUT ... if Beyonce put out another whack-a$$ CD like this last one, her run won't be as long as Janet's was with Jam & Lewis! I co-sign with everyone else who thinks that Beyonce was way outta line talkin' about somebody's parent's usin' them. Matt Knowles ain't pimpin' her no more and no less than Joe Jackson did his kids. And yeah, the Jacksons been around so long, there's no way for there NOT to have been some dirt out there on them. But hey Bey ... it's just a matter of time before your family's chocolate-stained drawers are on the line swinging in da' breeze for the world to see!

Comment: You know what ... I just read that Elle article. After this, I don't see how sistas can continue gettin' hyped up when Beyonce puts out another one of her single-ladies-girl-power anthems or when she puts out another hate anthem about men. According to the Elle article, most of what Beyonce knows about men she learned listening to women in her mama's beauty shop. So sistas, next time y'all want a REAL sista to sing about y'alls female troubles ... ya betta go get Mary J. or Keyshia Cole!! Up to now I kinda thought Beyonce had a sliver of class; mainly 'cause she sang that duet with Luther Vandross awhile back. You didn't get to do duets with Luther if you didn't have a first-class voice! But after this Beyonce done (as the old folks say) tore her britches wit' me!

Comment: DCdoug...yeah prolly not. That should serve as a caution for old people who incessantly talk about how great those times were. Mandika...and uhm..most women haven't been abused, addicted to drugs and came from broken homes like Mary and Keyshia. So maybe REAL sistas need another avenue other than the ridiculous one u mentioned. It's like me telling young men to listen to Lil Wayne on men trouble. Better yet, Whitney is a recovering crack addict...why not mention her.

Comment: DCDoug, no, they weren't seen as talentless, they had talent, they just didn't have the right song to click and fit their voices, etc. until they got with the right writer, etc., but the talent was there. The thing was each group was individual and different and distinct in their talent. Also, nobody copied nobody unlike now where everybody man or woman sounds like each other and therefore does raise the element of excitement. We used to wait on artists to drop their next record, that's the level of excitement what was present.

Talkin' about people's families in some circles can get a muthafucca killed. Speak on you and leave mofo's who had nothing to do with you or your interview alone.

Comment: Musb - I just give credit where credit is due. What Beyonce said about Janet's family was foul, so she needs to be smacked for that. As for her entertainment skills, she is on point. People want to say she's just shaking her azz and that's it. If that were the case, strippers would rule the world because they put Beyonce to shame. Beyonce is a business woman and entertainer. She made $80 million last year -- more than Brangelina, Bennifer and TomKat combined.

You may have thought it, but you didn't violate and speak your thoughts about another black person in front of White people, you just didn't do it. I stick to that rule even today. And here she goes saying this in print for the world to see, in a White magazine! ! ! ! She's just. . . . I have no words to describe what she is. There will be a serious blacklash towards her about this. Good nite peoples. Have a good evening.
