Comment: This is sad to hear. Too many churches are chasing the dollars instead of helping people. God don't like ugly. I'm glad my church think opposite to help people who have been left behind and stayed in the community to feed needy families, help drug addicts and alcoholics, mentor young men and women, provide financial empowerment to the community, and many other initiatives to assist folk in having a productive life.

Comment: A lotta them churches moving to the suburbs are following after that prosperity get-rich-quick doctrine as well as trying to be mega-churches down the road.

Comment: They're chasing more land in the 'burbs and giving up high-dollar real estate in the cities. And catering to a more affluent congregation who can afford to tithe rather than minister to the least among us who could most use their help. A good earthly business model, but is this really what God wants?

Comment: I agree mostly. I have been growing disenchanted with my church for various reasons. My church also has moved out per se. We have four services on Sunday two at one of the locations on one side of town and two on the other side. My church has grown over the last 16 years from a couple of hundred that was held in the church in the "hood" to over 15,000 on the rolls. A larger facility was genuinely needed. Now I do know that my church still is involved in the community where the original church is located. Noon bible study is still held there and they do feed the homeless, etc daily. There are also a lot of programs that are offered at that location so even though we have moved out we still remain active or at least it appears that we still remain active in the community.
