Comment: Since there is no precedent for this, he might as well be seated. Blago made a power move and there is nothing that can be done about it. This is adding drama. However, the laws should be changed that if you are a public official and if there is a hint of criminal activity your "contract" or decisions made by your office should be null and void until the drama is cleared up. This is only a distraction that the country doesn't need right now. We need good people in politics, white and black and I'm sick of the race card being played, personally -- on either side.

Comment: Since he didn't actually lay out a plan and physically accept money for the senate seat he is protected under freedom of speech for the taped conversation. Morally he is guilty as hell cause if he could have he would have but you can't be busted for intent unles.s there is a gun involved and you're trying to murder someone. Had he been sanctioned or removed Burris would still be in his position as comptroller.

Comment: Realuv..that would rule out a lot of politicians..lol This is a distraction the dems created by their usual ineptness. 'Nas..ur right but I think Burris' last job was as head of his own consulting firm.

Comment: While Harry Reid and the rest of the spineless Democrats were spouting off in public about Blago he was planning his next move to undermind them. Although I think Burris is being used bigtime by Blago I have to give it to Blago..he has more ba11s than all the Democratic Senators put together..

Comment: Realuv, I feel you on the hint of criminal activity, but then people would game the system and trump up false charges against politicians with appointing power to force them to refrain from appointing. That's why as slow as it is, the rule of "law" is the best system for this. A person is presumed innocent until proven guilty by a judge or jury. Anything less would give people too much power to run games on the system.
There is a bit more to Harry Reid's involvement that the EUR piece (two days late as usual) did not mention. In Friday's Chicago Sun Times, it was reported that Harry Reid had conversations or a conversation with Blago appoint who Harry Reid wanted to see in Obama's seat (or rather who Harry Reid, a Nevada resident, wanted to see fill in Illinois U.S. Senate seat). It was reported that Reid asked that 3J, Emil Jones, and Danny Davis (all three are Black politicians in the Chicago area). And the two candidates that Reid did want to fill the seat was an Asian woman (Tammy Duckworth) and a White woman (Lisa Madigan). Reid reportedly suggested that the three Black candidates above would not be acceptable to him because they were not "electable" in 2010. Perhaps, I'm in an alternate universe, but didn't America just elect a Black man as President just a couple months ago? Hailing from Illinois no less where said Black man was serving his first term as a U.S. Senator from Illinois.
Even more than the distraction and ineptitude on display by the Dems, Harry Reid is very much conflicted in this whole (Burris is tainted mess). As much as people don't like Blago, he's still the Governor of Illinois. He's still signing laws passed by the Illinois Legislature... even with the "taint." He has not been convicted of any crime... hell, he hasn't been "indicted" yet, only "charged." So since he hasn't been convicted by a court, the Dems should have never let it get that far.
I still find it funny that Harry Reid was figuratively felating George Bush and the Rethuglican party for all these years as the Minority then Majority leader of the Senate. He never opposed them on any damn issue of substance. He voted for all of their ridiculous wars. He passed their budgets. He cleaned out the American people's coffers just because Paulson said so. Harry Reid has demonstrated a brand of weakness of leadership only reserved for the worst among us. And NOW he wants to get tough against a fellow democrat. Negro please!

Comment: Well, the news reports are saying that they didn't seat Burris. He avoided confrontation and didn't press the issue by going to the Senate Chambers. Frankly, I think he should have. If he came this far, might as well be bold enough to let them look you in the eye and say "you ain't coming in here."

Comment: Ex..I guess u get hunh? Yeah this whole thing is a mess. They had put the word out that they wouldn't allow Burris in. Observers say that in order for Burris to be able to file suit in court, he had to at least attempt to gain entry. That notwithstanding, he would have no case. It's kinda funny to me tho cuz people were azzuming that burris would cause and scene..and he didn't. So all the huff and puff from the dems..falls on deaf ears. It was also reported that Reid and Durbin would seat Burris if he agreed not to run in 2010. The debacle continues...a debacle Obama should've steered clear of.

Comment: 'Herbs, I'm just shakin' my head maing at how much of a mess these ridiculous Dems do. It still tickles me that these folks practically rubber stamped these last two years of the Bush presidency debacle, showing literally no backbone and the time they choose to get some balls is against one of their own. I am registered a Dem, primarily for purposes of voting in primary elections. But let's not get it twisted, them mofos don't care about you and me. If they did, they would have avoided using this issue to grandstand about for fear of voter retribution. They keep this up, Imma have to start a grassroots campaign called "Vote only Obama. No other Dems." I've said it before... any group that voted with the Democratic party and their candidate 95% of the time deserves respect... so much that people think twice about dissing a member of said group. Those jokers are unafraid of the African American lobby because they honestly believe that we don't pay attention. And I'm not even saying that Burris is the cat's meow on Black issues. It's just that they don't even care to temper their statements with some caution when the visual is so anti-Black. See you in DC in about a week or so. I'll email you as time gets near. I decided not to bring the babies given the heightened security issues in DC... so.

Comment: Preaching to the choir my friend, preaching to the choir. My concerns are being realized more and more each day. I 'fear' that blacks will not be remanded to the back seat, but will willingly jump back there. I only say this because in our desire to have a first black president, all other advancements of 'us' will be forgotten. Obama is the token we've been waiting for and all else will be seen as unimportant. I'm sure we'll continue to hear the "damn, wut ya'll complaining about now, you got a black president..u don't need nething else"...lol The lack of voices from the black community about his cabinet picks and anything regarding his policies is not surprising. Complacency has set in AND We've arrived! *sigh* Yeah ain't that a bytch...hit me up. I gotta e-mail qb too so it's all gud.

Prolly not much. Maybe it should've just been the Obama/Clinton adminstration. LOL@Obama..sticking up for the Clinton's. An obvious look.

Comment: BTW, I'm not riding Blago for nething. What I am doing is commenting on how inept the democrat party is and the ridiculousness of creating a spectacle for no reason other than the same thing they accuse Blags of having...a bruised ego. Rest azzured, whenever there's a chance that a reputable, credentialed black person is up for a seat...I'm all for it. U can call that whatever you like.

Comment: @musbdherbs: THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT I'M TRYING TO DO! lmaoo. I was being idealistic, not realistic I know. If I was HNIC that . . . The system is working however. It's not a perfect system by any means, because it's comprised of imperfect people, but DAYUM. We may need to revisit our founding documents then. Because nowhere does it cover selling Senate seats. This was bad from the beginning and there is no way for it to work out right for the Dems. Blago blew it the lid off of Chicago politics for real. I know the Republicans are salivating over this red meat!!

Comment: The dems just showed their hypocritcal azzes. Talk about Blago selling a senate seat it is no different than Obama putting up Caroline Kenndy a senate seat for NY. She is a nice enough person but woefully unqualified to be a senator as evidenced by her interview. You don't think that senate seat was a reward for all the fund raising she did for Obama? OB did the same shyt as Blago, he just has a little more finesse!!
