Comment: The developer was her boyfriend and the target and best buy purchases can easily be explained away as her buying the gifts herself and giving them to some of the needy kids she comes in contact with on a regular basis. The only thing she is guilty of might be doing business with her boyfriend which is a conflict of interest. The rest - well this investigation has been going on for 4 years and they should have more than 'we think this is what she did'. When folk fall out with you and you're the holder of public office - there is no end to what the justice department will get up to, especially on a humble.

Comment: McNasty - Well I hope she has pix of her handing out these gifts for her sake. Even when folks are doing the "right thing", they can't forget to do the proper paperwork. If the purchases were legit and if she'd done the proper documentation, they couldn't hem her azz up...

Comment: McNasty - If the rules say you have to disclose X, Y, and Z and if she failed to do so, then the burden of proof shifts to her to show that the lack of disclosure was an oversight...either way, she should've known better than to date dude AND not properly disclose. Not a good look. I don't see re-election in her future if she survives this.

If she wanted the relationship, she should've told ol' dude that he can't submit for anything that requires her approval while she's the decisionmaker UNLESS there was a clear, transparent and unbiased way to do it AND she shouldn't have accepted any gifts that did not comply with the rules.

Comment: In Chicago there was a local politician (alderman, you can have a second gig, get as much as $1 million to do as you please, sweet gig for a part time one)anyway, turns out she was dating a big time gang banger, dude was driving her city authorized vehicle, on her city authorized cell phone, and when she got busted, made some stupid azz claims that she had no idea he was a banger, no idea he sold dope, etc. etc. Got on the news with ministers around, saying she will be vindicated. Sister just pled guilty. Sad that for the past 20 years how many millions have gone through our hands and just been wasted on greed.
