Comment: Jenny ain't no fool...and neither is Dr. Oz; too bad Iyanla couldn't see beyond her own need for control. She'd be sitting pretty (financially beyond her wildest dreams) with the rest of them. I just wonder what happened to Dr. Robin.

Comment: Teigh, I'm glad you brought up Dr. Robin. I had forgotten about her. I was very happy when Iyanla when she got her talk show so you know I was disappointed that it was short-lived. I never quite understood what happened between Iyanla and Oprah. Anyone?

Comment: I just hope she doesn't have as tragic a story as Iyanla does. She survived but damn! to have so much opportunity in your face and in the blink of an eye it's all gone. Not an easy road to travel.

Comment: I understand this chick is an advocate and all but it does sadden me that Oprah has so much influence but doesn't really seem to uplift black women or men like she did a Dr. Phil or a Rachel Ray. She could do it. I don't know why she won't. It's a little disappointing. I respect her and all but with her influence she could lift a lot of us up. I don't really like Iyanla like that. She's too "other worldly-ish"/out there for me.

Comment: Oprah keeps herself surrounded by Whites. She has so many of them kissing up to her and groveling at her feet, she's getting to the point where she thinks racism is almost non-existent. Of course, that's false! Obama might also be traveling down that road soon enough. So don't expect much from either of them in terms of making major changes.

Comment: Y'all acting like y'all don't understand the game. As soon as Oprah looks like she's thinking about getting ready to seriously address any racial issues she'll be shut down. And all the money she has wouldn't do anything about it. How long was it after Arsenio had Minister Farrakhan on that "Poof" he was gone? And you haven't seen him recently either, have you?

Comment: tell it Jazzfan, and she did try to give Iyanla a shot...Iyanla pretty much had her own show on the Oprah show and was killing it...but that same husband who dumped her via email told her she didn't need Oprah and her show was short lived. Yeah it's more than likely true, Oprah is controlling and has a overbearing personality but if Dr. Oz (who is distinguished in his own right) can play the game and get a show then damn it play the game. As long as you are not selling your soul for it and the end result is ownership (if you want it) then what's the problem.

Comment: Some of these comments remind me of dude from BET at Obamas last press conference. Dude spoke about black men and the unemployment rate and asked what Obama was doing for Black people...DUH employment was extended and unemployment was incresed! Child care coverage was extended to include children who weren't eligible before. Cobra was included in the stimulus package whereby if you were laid off (even in 2008) you could file for Cobra (in 2009) and only have to pay 33% for the first six months. I guess if it isn't shrouded in the red, black and green...with a brotha nod...it's missed. Makes me wonder if dude was talking about folks who ever had a job....now back to Oprah. Holly Robinson is a staunch advocate for Autism but perhaps she wasn't interested in getting that kind of platform. If Jenny wants a platform and knows how to work it to get one...how does that sayin go...don;t hate the player hate the game!

Comment: "Teigh," Obama never says he's doing it for Black people, he always clarifies that he's doing it for EVERYBODY with the same conditions. Additionally, all the issues you mentioned are for "problems." What about people who have none of those problems but just needs an opportunity. Jenny McCarthy, Dr. Oz, Suze Orman, Dr. Phil, Rachael Ray, Nate Berkus, and others don't have those "problems" either, but they received an opportunity. And, for the record, nobody's including best fried Gayle King. I wonder too what's happening with Dr. Robin???

Comment: TRTR...I hear you but all those folk you mentioned knew how to play the game to get the exposure to take what they already accomplished (without Oprah) to the next level. I don;t include Gayle because Gayle touts her best friend status more then her own accomplishments...Dr. Phil who really saved Oprah's A$$ during that cattle trial doesn;t ride her coattails. He made some misteps but he now owns his own show and in fact is in the game himslef. The Doctors is his TV show. And you're right about Obama it;s just unfortunate that sometimes black folks can't see or won't see that he IS helping them. Noone handed me anything I had to bust my a$$ for the opportunities I have been fortunate to get. Nowadays folk think it's just going to be handed to you...NOT!
