Comment: People begging for a Neverland memorial service seem to forget how the man Michael came to detest that place once officers repeatedly went through it, searching for anything to accuse him of sexual molestation.

Comment: not only was he an amazing talent, he was also an inventor. gonna miss u mike. Jackson's 'Smooth' leaning move really was patented By Dan Vergano, USA TODAY Fans of Michael Jackson's Smooth Criminal video will recall how, in the middle of performing the 1988 song, the pop star and his dancers leaned forward dramatically. Turns out Jackson didn't just invent the move — he eventually patented it. http://www.usatoday.com/life/people/2009-06-30-jackson -patent_N.htm?poe=HFMostPopular

Comment: Those people in Santa Barbara County don't want the circus, and I can't blame them. Michael DID say he would NEVER AGAIN (no pun intended) live at Neverland, only visit. It's VERY unlikely that he would have wanted to be BURIED there. Forest Lawn Memorial Park is the same place where Marvin Gaye's public viewing was held (I attended). It wouldn't surprise me in the least if Michael's public viewing is held there as well. The MASSES of grieving fans will be easier to manage in the Hollywood Hills, eaching person being allowed 3 to 4 seconds with the body (maybe even LESS in this case).

Name: dcdouglass01
Comment: Here's my two cents of speculation: after the funeral next week, the body will be interned (in current or cremated form) somewhere for a few weeks or months, then eventually returned to Neverland.

Comment: Good looking out, Michael !! GOD must had remembered your prayers about not wanting to go back to Neverland...

Comment: I don't like "special" laws or "exemptions" so I don't have a problem with the county denying the family that burial at Neverland. I do hope they turn Neverland into a museum of some sort, I'd like to take a trip to see it. Anywho, I guess his desire to be frozen will not be granted? "As the world mourns the death of Michael Jackson, it has emerged that he was so afraid of dying, he went to extreme lengths in a bid to achieve immortality. Michael Jackson was reportedly so afraid of dying, he made plans to have his body frozen and later brought back to life. The pop superstar who died yesterday, wanted to have his remains cryogenically preserved until medical research was advanced enough to resuscitate him so he could rise again. In 2005, author MICHAEL LUCKMAN, who met Jackson, told the New York Daily News the singer was obsessed with immortality and had invested millions into DNA research to produce perfect children. Luckman also said Jackson took GH3, a Romanian-developed drug designed to prolong life expectancy. Luckman said: "Michael has gone to extreme lengths to achieve immortality." After his shock death, fans, friends and family are waiting to hear the official coroners report. Whether Jackson's wish will be granted and he will be cryogenically frozen remains to be seen." http://entertainment.stv.tv/music/105111-michael-jacks on-to-be-cryogenically-frozen/

Comment: Huey, Michael also revolutionized the lighting industry. Back in '85 he created some lighting synchronizations for the Garden show that was crazy. That's when he used all $13 million of his OWN equipment, didn't use any of the Garden's. Michael in that shopping interview was asked by the interviewer would he wanted to be buried in a sarcophagus they were looking at (it was gold and molded in the image of King Tut) and he said "no, I don't want to be buried at all." Reporter said what then, Mike said "I want to live forever." But those drugs did him in. He didn't listen to anybody, it was Mike's way or the highway and I think he may have just overused one time too many. I'm going to miss him though, truly.

Comment: TGen: Say what??? OMG!!! Michael was screwed up more than I can imagine. I love him as an entertainer but there is no doubt in my mind that he was STRANGE!!! His family is not too far behind him. Ducking for the tomatoes.

Comment: “All plans for Michael Jackson's public and private funeral at Neverland are cancelled after his family was unable to obtain a residential exemption required for a burial on private property.” …But why can’t they have the viewing and funeral at Neverland, then bury him somewhere else until they can obtain the permits to move to body back to Neverland. That’s exactly what happened in Elvis Presley’s case. … “Elvis funeral was held in the living room at Graceland and he was originally interred in the Forest Hill Cemetery in Memphis. In October 1977, his father, Vernon Presley, secured permission from the city of Memphis to have the graves of Elvis and Gladys Presley removed to the grounds of the Graceland mansion out of fear that someone might steal Elvis' body.”

Comment: Obviously, Michael was a great entertainer and singer but he struck me as a master manipulator. He may have his 'strange' moments but I always believed it was all planned and that, secretly, he enjoyed the publicity. Whenever his career was in a lull, suddenly, they'd be some 'news' about Michael. Elephant man's bones, sleeping in oxygen chambers, the endless surgeries and skin bleaching (no I don't buy that virtiligo story), the whole neverland theme park, etc. kept folks talking about him. I think he detested the publicity when it backfired or was negative against him. Granted, it was cruel to call him him "Wacko Jacko" and it probably did hurt him. But I think he liked the idea of being a victim and he relished in it. For instance, I never understood why he didn't seek mental help with all the abuse he suffered at the hands of Joe. Anytime, he granted a 'rare' interview, he had no problem reminding the public about how evil and mean Joe was. I would think for his sake, that he would have gotten help for the trauma to help him cope better. But he didn't. It was like he constantly wanted sympathy and pity for his situation. To me, he seemed to be a victim of his own excesses and that's sad. It didn't help that the people around him indulged him instead of trying to get him some help. This is a bad situation all the way around and MJ would have still been alive had someone put their foot down and told him that he needed type of therapy. He needed a strong and persuasive person to shake him out of that victimization phase that he trapped himself into.

Comment: Even though it's hard to get through all of the rhetoric, I find the stories told by some of Michael's friends and family to be refreshing and pleasing to listen to amongst the mess that the media is reporting. Now these so called legit media outlets like the three networks, plus CNN and MSNBC are actually quoting reports from TMZ and US Weekly Magazine. That's like giving props to The National Enquirer and Star Magazine for a news report.

Comment: He is looking down from above, probably shakinghis head at the things people are doing. Still I say check Teco Brandon out...he looks very fishy to me....problem when people can't look you in the eyes when they talk to you. He might have been the one that gave Michael the drugs....he had a drug problem or still do....yes, I might be a little prejudice, but its always strange when you surround yourself with people that don't look like you...they will use you up...always and his people too. Look around at all the blacks that were high in the public eye and see who they surround themselves around...

Comment: NYCsoul, I hope something positive comes from the tragic death of MJ. With the DEA involved in the investigation now, I hope this means a crackdown on all those drug dealing doctors and pharmacist out the in Hollywood. I am pretty sure there are a few other plastic-mutant celebrities out there who also uses i.v. drips- Diprivan just to take a friggin nap. Liza Minnelli made a rather cryptic comment the day MJ died- she said something to the effect of "all hell breaking loose when the autopsy results come in..."

Comment: NYCSoul...it's been widely reported that Michael generated strange rumors about himself to the tabloids -- sleeping in the hyperbaric oxygen chamber and buying the Elephant Man's bones are just couple. But, doing that backfired on him and tabloids started creating rumors about him which led to the Wacko Jacko phenomenon. And, not only was MJ an inventor, he was a helluva businessman until he began to rely too much on prescription drugs. Lawd knows I wasn't the biggest MJ fan and his later years were tough to watch, but I can't help feeling saddened by his death. It's still a bit surreal to me and a part of me foolishly wishes this were some terrible hoax with MJ turning up in Dubai or some other exotic locale.

Comment: I hope this don't turn into a situation like James Brown. That mess took a long time before he was finally laid to rest.

Comment: >NYC - I think I can agree with you on much of what you said. My lil bro had a name for what you speak of. He called it being "married to the public". A lot of celebrities are married to the public. They have to let the public know about everything they do. They don't feel valid as performers/artists without the public giving them attention. When you are married to the public, the love of the masses is all that is important to you and you'll do whatever and anything you can to "save the marriage" - even drastic stuff like the stuff you have mentioned. Twitter is a wonderful miracle for people like this. People like - Halle Berry - went on Oprah to announce she wasn't ever getting married again and how much men have hurt her, Puffy - had press conferences to change his name and constantly makes videos of everything from his twins to how he pees, John Mayer - tells anyone who will listen who he's screwing/dumping, Angelina Jolie - lets everybody know which color of the rainbow of child she's about to adopt, and of course MJ w/the monkey, oxygen chamber, shopping sprees, etc.

Comment: Interesting point MOTHERSHIP brought up about "not wanting to listen." WHY?! Why is it that time after time after time, stars (and non-stars) believe they can MEDICATE THEMSELVES??!!! My 16-year-old was trying to pop MIDOL left and right. Too much of that stuff AND Tylenol can ruin the liver.

Comment: MOTHERSHIP- that sounds like that same lie the National Equirer told on MJ back in the day..and wasn't tht discredited whn MJ sued them..I believe tht was the first suit frm him then they came out with the Elephant Man's bones BS..MJ came out with Dangerous and "leave me alone" became another hit-

Comment: 1VA, I saw the interview myself. He did say that. It was during the shopping spree.

Comment: Grace, he got mad a Janet and other family members, hell even Deepak Chopra because he didn't write him a prescription for something. Michael can be very hard headed and stubborn.

Name: kwrob
Comment: Mothership, Michael can't be anything but rested now, surely not hard headed and stubborn. You don't get to be that way when you passed on.

Comment: Big10, James is buried in a temporary place. They're going to permanently bury him when they sort the money out. That could be 10 years or more. I do believe when the tox reports come back they will have found a lot of prescription drugs in Michael's stomach. If the reports are true that Michael ate only one meal a day, if that, then he was legally anorexic, as well. What a deadly, deadly combination. All those really high powered drugs, any one of which could probably kill you, then not eating as well. A person's heart can only take so much punishment. I remember back in the day, anorexia killed Karen Carpenters, and she was trying to get over her condition. However, the damage to her heart was irreversible and fatal.

Comment: I was watching the in studio jam of Al B. Sure from last week, and Tom played one of the songs off the CD. It was a remake of "Lady In My Life", two days before MJ passed.
