*Don Cheadle has been in negotiations to star in a new biographical film about jazz legend Miles Davis. Members of Davis’ family announced the news backstage at Monday’s Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ceremony, where the late trumpeter received a posthumous induction.
"It could touch on many things [like] the way he changed music in different decades," Davis' nephew, Vince Wilburn, said of the project. "From Bird to bebop to hip-hop and in between.
Wilburn added that filmmaker Antoine Fuqua was in discussions to direct the project, but noted, "First of all we have to get a script."
In the meantime, Sony's Legacy imprint will release several archival CD and DVD projects from Davis, including material from his various performances at Switzerland's Montreux Jazz Festival.
