"Kudos to the Feminists of Color United at the University of Texas in their planned protest of R. Kelly's scheduled concert there this weekend. As a father of two daughters (a college sophomore and a high school senior), I applaud their stand against this alleged child pornographer.
I do subscribe to the innocent until proven guilty tenet but in this case where there's smoke (or in this case videos) there's fire. Admittedly R. Kelly is a very talented artist and it is so easy to try to separate an artist's private life from his art, but do we really want to financially enrich a human being that has so little respect for our women (especially underage girls)? I choose not to and I commend the sisters @ UT for choosing not to as well.
As far as the following explanation is concerned given by the venue's booking agent, 'The University of Texas performing arts center is striving to bring the best in art and music in all genres and we're working hard to broaden our audiences and diversify our programming to do that,' I can only imagine that had the victims of Kelly's alleged disgraceful acts been young white girls, there would be no need to protest because the invitation to perform would never have happened.

"I think the reason why some of you feel the Steve Harvey show isn't any good is because it isn't really geared toward young people. I live in the Chicago area and I listened to Christian/Gospel radio until Steve Harvey was added to the radio.
The popular stations are for the young and Steve is really for the mature people who realize that you must get back to values. Steve doesn't hesitate to point that out and the music selection is fabulous. Keep Steve in Chicago!"
