*T. D., Northern Virginia:

"In response to Jacqueline Field's (3/17/06) feedback, I understand what you are saying and it would be on point, except for the fact that WHUR, albeit a university station, does NOT cater to the young crowd, it caters to the ADULT listener.  I would say the age range would be from a mature 30 to 65.  It's only competition is 102.3, a Radio One station that has Tom Joyner in the morning and plays hand dancing or stepping music every 10 minutes.  DC has two other stations for the younguns: WKYS & WPGC, who play non-music like 50 cent, Ashanti, TI and Beyonce 2-3 times an hour.

On WHUR, the music they play that could be considered 'young' includes Jill Scott, Leela James, Kem, Mary J., Floetry and Anthony Hamilton.  You will hear rap from Parliament's 'Give up the Funk'  if you hear it played at all. The name of the game is Old School (starting from the 60s) R&B, Neo Soul, Gospel, P-funk, some Chuck Brown and Old School rap, if any.  Steve Harvey doesn't bring any new music to the table, and if anything, his programming dilutes the mix with unfunny humor, constant talking, and less music.

In addition, WHUR already has syndicated programming in the afternoon, with Michael Baisden, and you know how he gets down with music.  Therefore we now have syndicated fare from 6-10am & 3-7pm. If this continues, we will have a local radio station with no local flava.  And this, my friends, is not good. Thanks and Peace to you."

*Torrey Hibler, Dallas, TX:

"(I just want to say that) Steve Harvey is an asset to the Dallas market and he always will be.  I appreciate everything he is doing. It is past time for us to have someone who will stand up and challenge men and confront our issues as a community. Keep on Steve; my radio is forever tuned in to you.

PS: I think Jackie Reid ads more flavor to the show and she is very classy and down to earth. She's for real.  And Nephew Tommy, keep doing yo thang, boy!"
