Dear Advice Chick,
My husband is an aspiring rap artist. My question is; he was recently offered a management contract. We are not rich and we don't have the resources to take the contract to an attorney. How do you know if you have a decent offer? Are there any companies which offer counsel on this subject?
Advice Chick replies,
The two of you are smart to want to seek counsel before signing on the dotted line. Check out freeadvice.com. This site has a wealth of legal advice, some free.
I'd suggest that you comb your local yellow pages though. You might be able to hire an attorney for around $100.00 per hour. It will be worth it to you and your husband. You already know – it takes money to make money. In the meantime, make a copy of the contract, read it, and highlight any parts which you aren't clear on. You can ask them to clarify, and to even omit certain clauses prior to signing.
Dear Advice Chick,
I am absolutely crazy about this guy who I have told - I think he thinks I’m okay but he gave me the old, “I don’t want a relationship” line. What can I do to change his mind or get over it?
Advice Chick replies,
You ARE absolutely crazy if you honestly believe he doesn’t want a relationship. You’re right, it was a line. He doesn’t want a relationship WITH YOU and that should be enough to make you let it go. Why want someone who doesn’t want you? Yes, many of us have been there, (learn from our mistakes) and it does not feel good. When something doesn’t feel good let it go.
It’s painful when our romantic feelings aren’t requited, but to get out of the pain get your head out of the clouds. I know you’ve seen those talk shows, “I lost 100 pounds, look at me now!” Their nemesis be like, “yes, you lost weight but you still ugly!” At THIS time, he does not want you. When someone doesn’t want you decide that you want yourself. Remember, everyone is not for everyone. Your Mr. Right is out there and when you meet him you won’t have to change a thing.
