*SERAFEMME, billed as the nation’s only lesbian women of color music festival, will take place in Los Angeles on Sunday, August 20 from noon until 6 p.m. in West Hollywood Park (647 North San Vicente Blvd.). Among this year’s 27 performers will be Meshell Ndegeocello, KRS-One, Nadirah Shakoor (former lead singer of Arrested Development) and dance chart topper Lori Jenaire. In addition to live music and spoken word, SERAFEMME will also feature a variety of arts, craft, and food vendors. “SERAFEMME was created to fill a void for queer female artists of color,” said festival coordinator Marquita Thomas. “The response to last year’s festival was incredible and people from all over the nation have asked if we could bring SERAFEMME to their city.” Admission is $10.
