*Rapper Foxy Brown did not attend a brief court hearing Wednesday on charges filed by a former colleague suing her in New Jersey for harassment and other claims.
After Judge Cynthia D. Jackson informed Brown’s team that the artist should attend the next court date – a probable cause hearing scheduled for Sept. 26 – Brown's lawyer, Brian J. Neary, assured the court that her client would be present. Neary said he would ask for the charges to be dismissed at that time.
Brown, born Inga Marchand, will contest the two complaints filed by Rasheeda Ellis, a former consultant to Brown's management company who quit in June. Ellis claims that her request to collect back pay from Brown resulted in the Ill Na Na harassing her through e-mails and cell phone calls.
"Foxy says she's never had a problem with this woman," Neary countered. Nevertheless, Ellis accuses the rapper of harassment, terroristic threats and verbal abuse. She avoided reporters after court and told the judge she does not plan to have a lawyer represent her in the case.
