*Michael Jackson will be dressed in Roberto Cavalli when he takes the stage to perform "Thriller" for the first time in years at the World Music Awards, which takes place Nov. 15 in London. As previously reported, the King of Pop will receive the Diamond Award, given to artists who have sold more than 100 million albums. His appearance is timed to the 25th anniversary of his “Thriller” album, among the best-selling discs of all time.
*Jay-Z is being sued for violating copyright laws with his 2004 song “Justify My Thug.” According to Allhiphop.com, the rap mogul has been accused by Bridgeport Music of using samples on the track without permission. Publishers Bridgeport, which owns the rights to various recordings sampled in hip hop, won a landmark case in 2004 that said artists must be paid for their tracks that are used as samples.
*Morgan Freeman is in final talks to star in the science fiction film, “Wanted,” for Universal Pictures. Based on a Top Cow comic book miniseries, the film follows a put-upon man (“Last King of Scotland’s” James McAvoy) who discovers that his long-lost father is an assassin. After his dad is murdered, the son is recruited into a covert organization of killers and trained to follow in his father's footsteps. Freeman will play Sloan, the lead assassin who trains McAvoy, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
*Ashley Judd may be in trouble with the very “sistas” she mentioned on “The View” yesterday when trying to make a joke about her hair, which was parted into about a half-dozen pinned pony-tails all around her head. When co-host Elizabeth Hasselbeck told her it looked “adorable,” the actress replied: “I took a little nap, this is my nap ‘do. I’m not quite a sister with the nappy do, I just got a nap do.”
*K-Fed has lost his meal ticket. Britney Spears has filed for divorce from Kevin Federline citing irreconcilable differences. The pop tart surprised David Letterman Monday night dressed to kill and sans the baby weight, but never mentioned her pending divorce from Federline, a former backup dancer and current wannabe rapper. They have a 1-year-old son, Sean Preston, and an infant son Jayden James, born Sept. 12.
