*As her father Lionel Richie was getting set to perform at a concert for Nobel Peace Prize winner Muhammad Yunus, Nicole Richie was in Los Angeles being arrested for suspicion of drunk driving.
The 25-year-old was behind the wheel of her black Mercedes SUV early Monday when two other motorists spotted her going the wrong way on the 134 Freeway in Burbank.
California Highway Patrol officers, responding to 911 calls from witnesses, found Richie stopped in the car pool lane, alone and on her cell phone, according to TMZ.com.
After failing a field sobriety test given by CHP, she was taken into custody at 4:50 a.m. in nearby Glendale. The booking sheet revealed Richie is 5'1" and 85 lbs, reports TMZ.com.
She was tested for drugs and released later Monday morning, according to Reuters. The results of the drug test hadn't been determined as of press time, but officers said Richie admitted she had taken Vicodin and smoked pot.
Meanwhile, Richie’s father was to join Sharon Stone and the former Cat Stevens Monday to perform for Nobel Peace Prize winner Muhammad Yunus and his efforts to relieve poverty.
Richie said it was time to again line up world stars to sing for poverty relief, 20 years after he and other celebrities recorded "We Are the World" to raise funds for famine relief in Africa.
"We thought we were going to eradicate hunger throughout the world," Richie said at a news conference. "Now it's 20 years later and we're still discussing the same issue."
Muhammad Yunus received the award Sunday for his program of microeconomics, giving small loans to those who want to escape poverty through their own initiative.
