*No cameras for “The Oprah Winfrey Show” were rolling when the talk show host invited a 21-year-old man to her private office Wednesday to apologize to the family of a man he had murdered ten years ago.
Nathaniel Abraham, who was 11-years-old when he shot 18-year-old Ronnie Greene Jr. with a rifle in 1997, was supposed to appear on “Oprah” that day, but the taping was canceled at his lawyer's request, reports the Detroit News.
Hours before the planned taping, Abraham apologized to Greene’s family during a meeting in Winfrey’s office. Abraham’s lawyer, Daniel Bagdade, was also in the room and said Winfrey "kind of mediated the apology."
"It was very riveting. Nate's story was not on camera today. We ended up doing the apology in Oprah's office. It was incredible. It was absolutely incredible," Bagdade told The Detroit News.
Abraham was 13 when an Oakland County jury convicted him of second-degree murder. His juvenile sentence was completed on Jan. 18.
