The 79th annual Academy Awards took place last night and of course it was the biggest thing happening in “LaLa Land.”
The Academy Awards is usually long and boring but this year to my surprise it was FABULOUS!
The academy could not have chosen a better host. Ellen DeGeneres did her “thug thizzle.” From the opening to the ending she was hilarious. I was even feeling her pant suits. I just wish the “sister” had worn some pumps.
Overall, her look was fabulous. However, I cannot say that about most. Was it me, or did just about everyone look a mess on the red carpet? I can’t run down all of the fashion faux pas but here’s the skinny…
I love Jennifer Hudson, LAWD knows I do, but what was she trying to prove with that brown garbage bag and aluminum foil shrug? As usual, her hair and make up were on point, but the dress needed a “do over.” It was like Lane Bryant meets Star Trek. Let’s hope that next time she won’t use Lu-Lu’s grand-mama as her personal stylist.

Side Bar-Y’all know Lu-Lu’s grand-mama be hooking up errrbody prom dresses for $50 and this year she did Jennifer’s Oscar dress for $125.
Her co-star was just as horrible. Miss Beyonce lacked the wow factor in the dress department also. Just when I thought she had given Charo back her fashion sense, Beyonce borrowed from her closet again.
Side Bar-Y’all don’t be actin’ like y’all ain’t notice that Beyonce got her fashion sense from Charo. We all know that she usually dresses a lil’ south of the boarder-ish meets hip-hop. Seriously, can Tina Knowles retire?
What the HECK was Tracey Edmonds wearing? Eddie should have checked her clothes before they left the house. I mean really, couldn’t she have borrowed something from his closet?
Out of everyone one on the red carpet the most memorable was Keisha Whittaker. She looked AMAZING! In my opinion, she gets Best Dressed. Honorable mention goes to Anika Noni Rose. She looked absolutely beautiful. Although her performance in DreamGirls went virtually unnoticed, she outshined her counter parts on the red carpet. Maybe she can give them some pointers.
In addition to being disappointed with the red carpet fashions, I was totally disappointed that DreamGirls was robbed. Out of the 8 nominations they only won 2 including Jennifer Hudson’s Best Supporting Actress win.
I loved the Jennifer, Beyonce, Anika, and Keith Robinson performance during the ceremony. They jammed. And for those of you who say that Jennifer and Beyonce had beef…let it REST. Errrbody knows that Jennifer sings rings around Beyonce and errrbody knows that Beyonce is Beyonce and nobody can top that.
Okay, was it me or did anyone else notice that Jamie, Denzel and Halle were all missing from last nights festivities?
Overall the Oscars were great. For me the highlights were seeing Jennifer Hudson win the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress, Forrest Whittaker win the Oscar for Best Actor and Willie Burton Win the Oscar for Best Sound Mixer. However, I think after tonight they will be called the Omar’s. This was the most soulful Academy Awards ceremony ever. Don’t get it twisted. I sista ain’t complaining. I love me some soul!
