*NBC Universal landed U.S. broadcast rights to the Live Earth series of concerts to be held across seven continents on July 7th to raise awareness of global warming. NBC personalities Ann Curry and Carson Daly will co-host a three-hour primetime special on NBC from 8 to 11 p.m. featuring highlights from the daylong concerts, as well as some live performances from the U.S. concert. Sundance Channel, partly owned by NBC, will air the entire 22-hour event from 4 a.m. ET on July 7 until 2 a.m. July 8. Bravo, also under the NBC umbrella, will air a mix of live and taped coverage for 18 hours, starting at 8 a.m. ET. CNBC will feature seven hours of concert coverage starting at 7 p.m. ET. MSNBC will offer news coverage throughout the day, with live reports from Gotham and London. Telemundo will air a one-hour spec at 7 p.m. ET, while mun2 will air two hours of coverage beginning at 5. Artists slated to perform include Kanye West, Black Eyed Peas and Snoop Dogg.
*Djimon Hounsou, Eva Mendes and Usher are among the celebrities announced as Cartier Love Charity Bracelet Ambassadors, which calls for each participant to represent a different global charity, including Usher's New Look Foundation, an educational camp for underprivileged kids, reports TMZ. Last year, Cartier donated more than $1.2 million from the sale of the Love bracelets to eight international charities.
*Real-life father and son and hip-hop impresarios Master P and Romeo team up as they learn to appreciate the true meaning of family in the comedy “Uncle P,” arriving on DVD on June 26 from New Line Home Entertainment. When his sister needs help with her kids, New York business tycoon and world-famous rapper P Miller is forced to move to California to take care of her three children. The kids are shocked to discover that their estranged uncle and new guardian is the one and only hip-hop legend, and Uncle P is faced with trading his glamorous lifestyle for sleepless nights and babysitting.
*BET’s reality series “College Hill 4,” which follows students at the University of the Virgin Islands, concludes its 14-week run tomorrow (June 5) at 10 p.m. ET/PT. The one-hour episode caps a season in which Californians Krystal, Fallon, JT and Willie were often at odds with their Virgin Island peers Vanessa, Idesha, Chicky and Andres. However, the final show features Cali-on-Cali crime as JT and Willie wage war against their homegirls Fallon and Krystal. Also, relations between V.I. boys turn cold when Andres pushes up on Chicky’s ex. The entire season four will be available on DVD beginning July 17.
*“Ugly Betty” picked up multiple honors Friday at the 2007 ALMA Awards, which salute achievements by Hispanic artists. The ABC series earned the ALMA award for outstanding television series, miniseries or TV movie. Its star, America Ferrera, was named outstanding actress, Ana Ortiz earned the supporting actress award and Silvio Horta received a writing nod for the pilot. “Babel” won four awards, including outstanding motion picture. The ceremony, held at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium, will be televised June 5 on ABC with Prince among the performers.
*A woman recently released from the same Los Angeles jail where Paris Hilton arrived late last night has a warning for the socialite. Susannah Johnson, who was released Saturday after a one-day stay, said inmates aren’t too happy with Hilton because officials at the crowded jail seem to be making room for the “Simple Life” star at the expense of other inmates. Johnson, 35, told AP: "The only advice I could give her when she comes is to shut her mouth and do the time."
