*Rosie O’Donnell felt the need to explain why she turned down an invitation from the almighty Oprah Winfrey to promote her new book, “Celebrity Detox.”
In a posting on her Web site, Rosie addresses Tuesday’s New York Post story, which claimed she “dissed” Winfrey and decided to grant an interview with Diane Sawyer. Ro says the content of her autobiography – in which she hints of possible sexual abuse suffered as a child – is just “too raw” to discuss right now.
In her own special haiku-style delivery, Ro writes: "the book was hard to write ... i do not feel ready to discuss or defend the things i shared on those 209 pages."
Winfrey, meanwhile, told ET.com about O'Donnell's memoir: "I like the book very much. I thought Rosie in this book was so candid about what it's like to live a life in front of other people."
Addressing Winfrey’s reaction, O’Donnell ended her posting:
oprah is a force of nature
her invitation made me cry
her kind words about the book
reinforces what we all know
2 b true about her
As previously reported, O'Donnell's rep Cindi Berger said her client "is currently scheduled to do an interview with Diane Sawyer on Oct. 9" – the book's official publication date. The interview will run on “Good Morning America,” Berger said, adding, "I'm sure she will do Oprah for another project, just not this one."
