Nicole Richie

*Court documents show that Nicole Richie, fresh from serving 82-minutes of a four-day DUI sentence, has signed up for an alcohol education course as ordered by the court.

According to papers filed with the Superior Court of California, Richie enrolled in the 18-month SB 38 Alcohol Program on Sept. 26. The course is for people who have been convicted of a DUI more than once within a 7-year period, the Santa Barbara Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse states on its Web site.

Richie's July 27th DUI sentencing followed a previous drunken driving conviction in June 2003.

The SB 38 program consists of 52 hours of group counseling, bi-weekly face-to-face interviews and 12 hours of alcohol education, according to the council. Participants are also encouraged to attend 12-step meetings.

Richie, 26 and six months pregnant, was arrested Dec. 11 after highway patrol officers were alerted to a black Mercedes SUV driving the wrong way down the 134 Freeway. She was booked for driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs after failing a field sobriety test and admitting to police that she had smoked marijuana and took Vicodin earlier that evening.

Meanwhile, it appears as if the "Simple Life" star and her fiancé Joel Madden – the unborn baby's father – have finally set a wedding date. Sources tell TMZ.com that a wedding planner based in Orange County will handle the small ceremony scheduled for Oct. 13 in Laguna, Calif.
