Lil' Wayne

*While Lil' Wayne was being sued by a Miami Jewelry company for allegedly ignoring his bill, the New Orleans rapper was being arraigned on drug charges in the ATL.

The 25-year-old rapper, whose real name is Dwayne Michael Carter, showed up to the three-hour preliminary hearing but stayed for about 20 minutes – just long enough to plead not guilty to three counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance.

The artist was arrested in August 2006 after police received a tip from a hotel employee and found marijuana and over 100 Xanax and hydrocodone pills in his room.

He's due back in court on Nov. 20, at which time the judge is expected to rule on a series of motions filed by his lawyer, William Head, seeking to have the case dismissed, reports E! Online.

One of those is a petition challenging the legality of the hotel search; another is a request to inspect the evidence, such as the seized pill bottles, and have them dusted for fingerprints.

"We asked to examine the evidence so we can prove it has no connection to him," Head told E! Online. "Let's see what the fingerprints are."

Meanwhile, Weezy is also facing charges of being a fugitive in Idaho after he failed to appear in court on the Atlanta drug charges. His lawyer said Wayne missed those dates because the case notice was sent to his old New Orleans address, which was destroyed during Hurricane Katrina. In any case, the arrest warrant was issued, leading to his arrest in Boise, Idaho, earlier this month. The fugitive charge is due to be addressed separately in a Boise courtroom.

Wayne is also facing gun and drug charges in New York after he was arrested following a concert at Manhattan's Beacon Theater. And as reported yesterday, Jack Sutton Fine Jewelry sued the artist in Florida's Miami-Dade Circuit Court, alleging he failed to pay on a $146,000 bill for a diamond ring and necklace purchased earlier this month.
