Cassie

*Cassie will attempt to move past her admittedly sub-par live performances that accompanied the 2006 release of her self-titled debut album with new and more "grown" material for a sophomore release due in the spring.

"[Although] I hate to use the words grown-up, I really, really did since the last time around," the 21-year-old Bad Boy singer tells Billboard. "I guess I grew up a lot but I'm still in essence the same person."

"Lots has changed in my life, stuff that has made me think about things differently," Cassie continues. "I'm more vulnerable and you can hear my vocals better this time around. There's real emotion and a much realer connection with my fans."

The as-yet-untitled album is due May 20 with production from Seven, Mario Winans, Bryan Michael Cox, Eric Hudson, Sean C and LV and mentor Ryan Leslie, who discovered the Connecticut native.

A first single has yet to be chosen, but Cassie assures it will be "a club record -- something fun and danceable." Possible contenders include the Seven-produced "My House," the flirty "Thirsty" and the concept track "Push It," reports Billboard.
