D.L. Hughley       *What’s Up Y’all!  Your girl is back.  Here is my rundown of the BET Awards 08’…

My FAVORITE Comedian, DL Hughley was the host of tonight’s FAB-U-LOUS affair.  Armed with edgy jokes, a fist full of talent and good looks he will go down with the Smith’s and Monique as one of the best to ever host the show.

Side Bar-Did I ever tell you that DL called me beautiful?  That man stopped his show and called me beautiful.  No wonder he is my favorite comedian … go figure. :-)

Usher opened the show with “Love In This Club” and he did a good job but not good enough to mention any further.  Nuff said…

J-Hud and Terrence Howard introduced the Best Male R&B Artist.  Looking fabulous rocking a blunt bob and humming a nice little ditty she had Terrence Howard salivating like a rabid puppy.  Needless to say, he couldn’t take his eyes off of her cleavage.

Side Bar-Jennifer Hudson is on her LAST 30 seconds of her 15 minutes of fame.  Can we get a CD single or sumtin’?  I’m just saying…

Chris Brown won Best Male R&B Artist and in his acceptance speech he shouted out Weezy and congratulated him on his record sales.  I found that comical since Neyo used that Milli beat to write a dis’ song dedicated to Chris Brown.  Hmmmm…now can we expect Chris Brown to do a remix dis’ song of Lollipop dedicated to Neyo?  I guess dis’ records are no longer reserved for angry gangsta rappers.

Side Bar-That Neyo dis’ song is HOT.  I never knew a sensitive R&B crooner could get grimy like that.  Take away the recycled Usher moves, the Dick Tracy suit; close your eyes real tight and hum your favorite tune and he all of a sudden got sexy.  Nuff said…

Kevin Hart and Mel B. introduced the best Male Athlete and Kobe Bryant won…but was a no show.  Speaking of folks not showing…several people were missing in action.  Alright now, y’all know what happened to the Soul Train Awards.  Nuff said…

Side Bar-Didn’t Mel B. have that very same dress on at another awards show?  Mel B. if you are out there…DON’T REPEAT ON CAMERA.  Nuff said…

Okay, I know errrrbody was a fan of Keyshia Cole’s reality show “The Way It Is” and errrbody knows her mama Frankie and sista Neffie.  Alright, why ain’t nobody tell Neffie that her left boob was about to blacken Frankie’s right eye?

Speaking of Keyshia Cole, she performed Heaven Sent (my favorite song right now) standing on top of a tower, wearing a beautiful, fluffy, snatch away dress.  She looked so very beautiful and elegant and then all hell broke loose.  She snatched away her dress belted out “Let Him Go” (off key mind you), Lil’ Kim came out and rapped and the performance became a NASTY, OFF KEY, HOT, GHETTO MESS!

Side Bar-Where did they find those dancers?  Was that Audio 2 (MC Lyte’s dancers from back in the day)?

Side Bar-Kim needs an intervention.  Can someone ban her from the use of ALL silicone, skin bleach, bad weave, horrible make-up, tacky clothes…I could go on...

Ashanti and LL introduced the Best New Artist.  Why did Ashanti have Choir Director Hair?  That hair was TERRIBLE.  So was the dress but I couldn’t get past the hair.  Later in the show Ashanti ran out on stage with her dress raised and interrupted DL’s introduction of her man, “Nelly”.  She claimed that they were supposed to perform together but they “negotiated” because she had the “good good”.  Ironically, I found that quite comical because not only did Ciara perform with him, but so did Fergie.  I guess it ain’t all that good.

Side Bar-Ashanti, if you are out there, trust me baby, you ain’t got to broadcast that your goodies are good unless you ain’t so sure about it.  Nuff said…

Quincy Jones got the Humanitarian Award and Al “Grits” Green got the Lifetime Achievement Award.  The tribute to Al done by Jill “Sexy” Scott, Anthony “Throwback” Hamilton and the “Marvelous” Maxwell, was WONDERFUL.  Later Al took the stage and had the crowed jumping and clapping to his melodic voice and soulful groove.  It was by far one of the best performances.

Side Bar-When Al Green was performing, why was Wesley Snipes … my bad, Cheryl Underwood looking a slap mess in the aisle dancing in that white monstrocity of a dress?!  Just WRONG!  All day wrong!  Nuff said…

Side Bar-Y’all Maxwell done cut his tresses.  Until he opened his mouth I thought he was James DeBarge.  I almost had a crush on him, but I don’t think that he is into “my kind,” if you catch my drift.

The T-Pain performance was hot.  I really like that dude.  Not only is he hella talented, he is a cool down to earth brother.  He is soft enough for somebody like me to buy his CD, yet hard enough for DJ Kaled to have him singing the hook on “I’m So Hood.”

Side Bar-Okay, why is Big Boi shopping in Andre 3000’s closet and stealing all the biscuits from the dinner table?  My man is packing on the LBS!

Y’all I LOVE Luda just as much as the next person, but why was he spitting on the song “I’m So Hood” looking like a prep?

Okay, this ain’t got nuffin’ to do wit’ nuffin’ but who in the hell cast Derrick Luke as Puff Daddy in the upcoming biographical film of the Notorius BIG??!  Nuff said!

Although there were SEVERAL great performances I have to say that hands down the very best performance was ALICIA KEYES.  That lil’ sista did her thug thizzle.  The girl group thing was pure genius.  I loved when SWV came out and proved my theory that none of them could sing a lick (not even Coco), when EnVogue came out and showed the world what real singing is and when TLC came out and dredged up old memories of jamming in the club doing the Bankhead Bounce.  It was my favorite performance of the entire night.

Last but not least, Weezy and T Pain closed the show with “Lollipop” and my new favorite song “Milli.”

Side Bar-I have a confession.  I am a closeted fan of Weezy’s.  I am really feeling his new CD.  Shhhhh…don’t tell nobody.

That’s all for now.  Holla back at cha girl.  Hit me up and tell me what you think.  Dishin.dirt@yahoo.com
