Bill Jones      *On Friday, August 1st celebrity photographer Bill Jones will be honored with the Lee Bailey EURweb Media Legend Award for "Creating a place in media's history book," at the first annual EURweb Media Awards Show to be held at the Los Angeles Convention Center between 5 p.m. - 9 p.m. in the West - 511AB.

Photographer Bill Jones, at 70, is a living legend. If you ask any black celebrity or VIP if they know Bill Jones, and the answer would be a resounding, "yes!" The reason for this is that, as a photographer Bill has always been polite and courteous, unlike the modern day "paparazzi."

Bill grew up on Mansfield, Ohio in the 1930's and '40s. He married his high school sweetheart and joined the military where he found his love of photography. Shortly after being honorably discharged from the military Bill Jones moved his family to Southern California.

He easily gained access to black elites such as former Mayor Tom Bradley and local politician Diane E. Watson. With a photographer's contract with Jet Magazine, Bill became the most published black photographer inb Hollywood.

In 1997 a neighbor brutally attacked Jones and he spent three weeks in a coma. At the hospital countless celebrities, such as Halle Berry and Sinbad came to visit and pray for him. When he finally woke from the coma he couldn't walk, talk or eat, he could only remember his camera. He recovered, but lost the use of his right hand, so he had to teach himself to use his left hand to work his camera.

Bill Jones has long since returned to the Hollywood scene and continues to take pictures of the celebrities and VIPs, but today it is they who are seeking him out, the legendary celebrity photographer, Bill Jones.
