Damita Haddon      Damita Haddon, wife of Deitrick Haddon, returns with the long-awaited second solo Gospel CD, “No Looking Back,” on Tyscot Records. The soprano vocalist exhibits a wide range on this project.

Damita grew up in Detroit where both mainstream and Gospel music still flourishes. She was raised in a religious home where the only type of music allowed was Gospel and classical.

As a teenager Haddon opened herself up to R&B, Jazz, Pop and Rock. She notes The Clark Sisters, Rance Allen, The Winans, Michael Jackson, Aretha Franklin, Tina Turner, Sting, Celine Dion and Coldplay as her musical influences.

Her first professional break came when she and her twin sister, Marguerita, formed an all female a cappella group called Adoration-n-Prayze. They later signed to TM Records and released their only album, “Time is Running Out.” They were nominated for a Stellar Award for that project.

Their influence was evident when R&B groups likes SWV and Escape sung their songs. Their song - “He’s Wonderful” - which Damita wrote, was re-recorded and released by Donald Lawrence.

When the group broke up Damita starting singing with Voices of Unity at her church, she also sung and traveled with Aretha Franklin.  Her vocals are on Deitrick Haddon & Voices of Unity’s “My Soul Says Yes” which received a Stellar Award.

Her latest album, “No Looking Back,” exhibits her fresh sound. The CD is a blend of Gospel, R&B and Pop which she describes as universal and primed to reach people beyond the four walls of the church. The album is youth inspired.
