Award winning Reggae Inspirational singer, Avion Blackman, releases her anticipated debut album, “Sweet Life,” on Lion of Zion Entertainment/Infinity Music this Thanksgiving weekend.
Blackman is a member of the group Christafari, recognized as one of the top 10 Reggae artists in the world by Billboard magazine.
On “Sweet Life” she pays tribute to her Caribbean heritage with a blend of Folk, Worship, World, Soca and Neo-Soul. Blackman is currently promoting the new album on an extensive world tour with Christafari in more than 100 shows in 25 countries, including the USA.
As a young dreadlocked child, at the tender age of four, her father moved his family to the jungle on a spiritual quest. Her home in the jungle was a log cabin with no doors, windows, plumbing or electricity. She was home-schooled and her family (24 brothers and sisters) lived off the land. Their days were filled with Bible study, intense rehearsals and concert tour dates.
But the age of 14 Avion was a bass player in her father’s band, The Love Circle. Her father Lord Shorty changed his name to Ras Shorty after converting to Christianity.
“On ‘Sweet Life’ I unapologetically sing about the sweetest life of all,” states Blackman. “The abundant and eternal life that is freely given to those who place their faith in Jesus Christ.”
