*After Serena Williams struggled through her first round win over Australian Samantha Stosur 6-3, 6-7 (4/7), 7-5 at the Sydney International, she brought a little something extra to the post-match press conference.

Photographers were immediately drawn to her neck, which was adorned with a $2.5 million (US Dollar) necklace sporting 427 diamonds. The bling was given to her by a local jewelry designer in hopes she would wear it on the court.

"I told the jeweler that I would wear it at the press conference because I didn't have the cash to be losing a three and a half million dollar necklace," Williams said with a laugh. "I'm just not comfortable with it and if it fell off I just would have gone for it..... I wouldn't care about the ball."

Williams, the world number two, has worn diamonds on court before, causing some controversy at the 2004 US Open when one of her $40,000 earrings fell off during a match.
