MARY MARY TAKES HOME THEIR 7TH DOVE AWARD: Sister duo wins 2009 award for 'Get Up.'

Mary Mary      The sister duo from Inglewood, California, Erica Campbell and Tina Campbell who are Mary Mary received a Dove Award for the Urban Recorded Song of the Year, “Get Up,” from their #1 Gospel Album, The Sound. 

     They were honored Thursday, April 23rd at the 40th Annual Dove Awards, one of the longest running and most prestigious televised ceremonies recognizing Christian and Gospel music. This award for “Get Up” marks their seventh career Dove Award for Mary Mary. They were also recipients of the 2009 NAACP Image Award for Best Gospel Artist earlier this year.

    The sisters, who took the name to honor Mary the mother of Jesus and Mary Magdalene have done well since their first album Thankful, their exuberant and innovative sound and strong declarations of faith has kept them at the forefront of contemporary gospel music.

    More than award winning singers, you can now add writer to the list of attributes as Mary Mary recently inked a publishing deal with Simon & Schuster to pen a devotional collection of inspirational stories, anecdotes and helpful hints for women.

    The duo is just wrapping up their spring tour with their last performance on tonight, April 29, at the House of Blues in Anaheim, CA.
