*Mariah Carey is apologizing for her performance at Michael Jackson's memorial on Tuesday, believing she could have done a better job performing his Jackson 5 hit "I'll be There."
The songbird says she lost control of her voice when she took the stage above Jackson's casket and was suddenly overcome with emotion.
"Trying to sing today was basically impossible for me," Carey wrote Tuesday on her Twitter page. "I could barely keep myself from crying. I'm sorry that I wasn't able to pull it together and really do it right, but I was literally choked up when I saw him there in front of me."
"One thing I know is, we will never really have to say goodbye to MJ. His legacy lives on through his music and the millions of people. He inspired with his timeless music. He will be forever in our hearts," she adds.
*Meanwhile a lot of folks, including us here at EUR, were wondering who was the unidentified female singer who led the assembled celebrities on "Heal The World" at the end of the services. Well now we know.
According to Rolling Stone's Rock Daily blog, her name is Judith Hill, who had been recruited to be one of the backup singers for Jackson's planned "This Is It!" concerts.
Hill's bio on her official Web site, judithhillmusic.com, describes her music as "a blend of R&B/hip hop beats fused with a Led Zeppelin rock edge and peppered with impressionistic harmonies."
The Los Angeles-born singer's eclectic music style is a result of her diverse background, according to the bio. Hill was raised in a biracial family (her mother is Japanese and her father is black) and grew up listening to Aretha Franklin and Ella Fitzgerald, and studied and played classical and jazz music as a college student.
