Click HereTaking strip to the mainstream(April 19, 2004)
Actress Stacii Jae Johnson may have
big screen credits for her roles in “How To Be
a Player” and “Thin Line Between Love & Hate,”
but it’s her small screen business that’s building
up her name. Johnson is the creator of the video
“I Want to Strip for My Man, But I Don’t Know
How.”
The video is a 60-minute instructional tape
for the everyday woman, taught by professional
strippers, which is taking households by storm.
With no early intentions of launching such
a product, Johnson says that the idea came
from where most great business ideas come
from – need.
Johnson was trying to find a way to help
a friend who wanted to learn exotic dancing
as a gift for her husband.
“I had a girlfriend who was celebrating
her five-year wedding anniversary and this
was something she always wanted to do for
her husband, but she would not step one foot
in a strip club. And I thought, why don’t we hire
somebody to come [and teach you] and she said,
‘Nah, that’s okay.” So I got on the Internet, and
I found a couple of things but nothing that I thought
my friend would be interested in. I kept searching
and found there was nothing out there. So I started
looking for an investor. As soon as he thought about
it, he wrote the check. I blinked and I was rollin’.”
Johnson and the production crew of Just Us
Girlz & Guyz thought the product was a no-brainer.
The more Johnson spoke of the project, the more
women she encountered that were looking for just
that, but were scared, inhibited, or too bashful
to research it.
“Women out there want to do these types
of these things. Trusting a man, a man that you’ve
committed yourself to, and just relaxing and trusting
him and let whatever’s inside come out,” Johnson said
of her clientele. “My friend had been married for five
years and she wanted to do something exciting, to
be a catalyst for the next five years. It takes a lot
these days to keep men at home, it takes a lot these
days to keep their focus because there are so many
other things out there. And not saying that men are
consumed with these things. As women we have
to stay on our toes, and not just for men. I have seen
a number of women become better women for themselves.
I’ve had women e-mailing me thanking me not just for the
dances, but the different dialog that we have in the DVDs.”
She also adds that the tape is not just for the married
folk. Johnson says that a number of single women have
asked about the product and that she’s explained that
there is something to the Boy Scout motto to ‘Be
Prepared.”
“Anything that you’re expecting you have to
prepare for. Just like, we prepare from kindergarten
to move through life. In our business, in our personal
lives, we have to work toward moving forward. So if
you expect the wonderful relationship that we all
pray to have, then you have to prepare for it and
realize that this is just one little thing that
your man may like.”
Johnson herself confessed that she has
learned quite a lot from putting together and
not just production skills.
“I learned how to do the booty clap!” she
said. “I don’t do it as well as the women in the
movie, but I know the secret to the booty clap.
The truth is it’s all in your ankles and you really
have to loosen you legs up and you have to feel
like you’re knock-kneed.”
Well, the secret’s out. Don’t worry, there’s
even more revelation on the video, including dialog
and encouragement that you don’t have to be
a “stripper size” or have a “stripper look.” The
video features real strippers, but real women,
too. And a number of viewers may be surprised
to find that the most important thing in stripping
isn’t the clothes, the moves, or the props – but
the eye contact.
“Eye contact is very important, the most important,”
Johnson said. “Most of the instructors in this movie
say you have to keep eye contact. Once this man
is in tuned with your eyes, everything is lost. You’re
the woman that he loves. Even if he goes out to
a club he’s thinking, the woman that he’s giving
himself to is at home, and she can do this.”
Furthermore, Johnson says that you don’t
have to study alone. The video works well as
a group project, too.
“I took it over a girlfriend’s house and I just
wanted to get everyone’s opinion about it – we
were still going through the editing stages. At first
they were looking, but then they just had to get up
and try it. We had a ball!” she said.
Johnson describes the tape as “sexy,” but
adds that there is no nudity.
“[The strippers] are in sexy attire, but that’s
because that’s what they dance in. I didn’t want
them to show up in sweatpants to show how to
strip for your man. The everyday ladies also are
wearing sexy attire. I told them to wear what
they thought a stripper wears, and wait to
you see what they wore.”
She also says that she has had very little
negative feedback about the production. Many
women have contacted her to thank her.
“I’m changing lives,” she said. “Women feel
very inhibited, but hopefully with a product like this
we can start giving ourselves over to accepting and
trusting. I think it’s in us all. Sometimes, we’re
just a little scared.”
“I Want to Strip for My Man, But I Don’t Know
How” is available at www.stripformyman.com.
Vol. 2 is already in the works, which Johnson
says she’ll be filming in Atlanta or Houston.
