*There has been much chatter about Wesley Snipes’ displeasure with his latest movie “Blade: Trinity,” the third release from the vampire film franchise, due in theaters Dec. 10.  Word got around that the actor was unhappy with the spotlight moving away from the Daywalker and onto new characters played by Jessica Biel and Ryan Reynolds.

Snipes, who was happily accessible for interviews during the first two “Blade” films, was “shooting a movie in Bulgaria” during press days held for the film earlier this month.

It has been reported that Snipes insisted on having complete control on the “Trinty” set, and having final say on all scenes in which he appeared, which would seem to diffuse rumors that he’s unhappy with the finished product.

Snipes reportedly freaked out his co-stars by chosing to stay in character as the brooding vampire anti-hero throughout the entire movie shoot.

“It was different,” co-star Jessica Biel says with a careful smile. “I don’t think I know Wesley.  I mean, he was Blade all the time when he was on set. And Blade doesn’t really talk, Blade doesn’t really communicate, with us at least. So getting to know Wes was not easy and I don’t’ think I did at all.”

Starring as Abby, the daughter of Blade’s mentor Whistler (Kris Kristofferson) Biel said that writer/director David Goyer would yell cut and Snipes would literally walk off somewhere without saying a word to any of the actors in the scene.

“He would go sit in his chair with his glasses on, or maybe talk to David a little bit about something, but we never really talked. Ever,” she said.

The same coldness also exists on screen between the characters in the film. Abby and her wisecracking vampire hunting cohort Hannibal, played by Ryan Reynolds, come onboard to rescue Blade after the FBI has arrested him for murder. Although the kids have amazing skills, Blade treats them like annoying gnats that he must tolerate in order to escape the FBI and take down a resurrected Dracula, solving the vampire problem once and for all.

“The dynamic between my character, Ryan’s character and Blade was real, because we were all like, ‘Do you hate us? Do you love us? I don’t know’," laughed Biel. “It was perfect, it worked so well.  So I almost thank him for that. He was intimidating, everyday.”

“Wes is one of the few guys that I’ve ever worked with who is a method actor through and through,” adds Reynolds.  “That can sometimes make sets a little more tense and more dramatic. …It makes for the banter around the craft services table awkward, but other than that, it works for the film.”
