MYKELTI WILLIAMSON THREATENED AT GUNPOINT: Man ran up on actor yelling racial slurs.(May 5, 2005)
*As if the dodging of bullets on Southern California freeways weren’t enough, actor Mykelti Williamson’s recent experience came along with a few N-words and being run off the road. Police arrested and booked 24-year-old Ernesto Diaz of Los Angeles for suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and hate crimes after he allegedly pointed a gun at the actor and yelled racial slurs as they were both driving along Vermont Ave. in the Gardena area of Los Angeles. Diaz allegedly ran Williamson off the road and approached his vehicle on foot, but instead of shooting, he eventually backed off and drove away. “That man could've very well killed me. That was a huge gun,” the 45-year-old actor, who lives in Los Angeles, told KNBC-TV. “He felt in complete control of the situation and that's probably why he didn't fire.” Williamson took down the license plate number of the man's SUV and called police, who tracked down Diaz and arrested him. He was being held on $50,000 bail and is expected to appear in Superior Court today. “I'm overjoyed that he's off the street. But that was one guy with a gun. There's a whole lot more guys like that,” Williamson told KNBC, referring to the recent rash of freeway shootings in recent months that have killed four people. ---------------------------- Speak Out
