*To protect his money-making vocal chords, Lenny Kravitz asked the management at the London club Kabaret's Prophecy to enforce a smoking ban while he was inside so that his vocal chords wouldn’t be damaged.

A source told the Daily Mirror: "Lenny doesn't like to make a fuss, but his voice is his livelihood and he's prepared to go to any lengths to protect it."

According to the paper, not even Mariah Carey could get another London club, Tantra, to enact a temporary smoking ban during her birthday bash earlier this year. Consequently, one of her handlers was reportedly given the task of wafting away smoke that floated into her personal space.

For Kravitz, Kabaret’s Prophecy suddenly had no smoking signs and stern warnings from doormen not to light up cancer sticks anywhere, with the exception of the bar area “in order to protect his voice,” said the source.  VIP guests abiding by the temporary ban included Goldie Hawn and her daughter Kate Hudson.
