*Oprah Winfrey loves her some Toni Morrison. Although critics were kind to her feature film adaptation of the author’s “Beloved” in 1998 – executive produced and starring Winfrey herself – audiences stayed away, which Winfrey has said was a huge, personal disappointment. “Beloved’s” box office bust drove her away from starring in any more films, ever. But as a producer, Winfrey will revisit Toni territory again with a television adaptation of Morrison’s 1993 novel “Paradise,” which revolves around the murder of several women by a group of black men from a small town of Ruby, Oklahoma. The film, eyed as a four-hour miniseries, will spring from a screenplay to be written and directed by Darnell Martin, the woman who helmed Winfrey’s Emmy-nominated TV movie “Their Eyes Were Watching God,” starring Halle Berry. Like “God,” “Paradise” will be produced by Winfrey’s Harpo Films for her “Oprah Winfrey Presents…” banner at ABC. ------------------------------------------- Speak Out
