'AMERICAN IDOL' GEORGE HUFF FINDS A 'BRIGHTER DAY': The Singer, A Hurricane Katrina Victim, Will Donate Sales From New Single To Relief Efforts(September 14, 2005)
Los Angeles, CA - Soulful singer, George Huff of American Idol (season 3), has a lot to sing about today. Being a native of New Orleans, he and his family were also victims of Hurricane Katrina. They lost their homes and Huff along with his mother and sister had to evacuate to Dallas where they currently reside with other family members.
His father, however, and another one of Huff's sister's were trapped in a separate home for several days and were recently rescued. His father is recovering in a Baton Rouge Hospital.
"I thank God for being alive and my family being ok," say's George. "There are so many people who are suffering and need uplifting right now, and I wanted to do something special for them. So I'm dedicating my current single, "Brighter Day" to all who have lost their loved ones and who have survived this horrific tragedy, because although it is bad right now, there is a brighter day tomorrow."
"Brighter Day," the new single from his upcoming release Miracles, will be available in two weeks via digital download on major internet outlets for $.99 cents. All proceeds collected will be donated to the victims of Hurricane Katrina.
George and his father were reunited over the weekend in Baton Rouge, which was the first time since before Hurricane Katrina hit. Inside Edition captured the reunion, which aired Monday, September 12. The new CD entitled, Miracles is slated for release October 11, 2005.
