      *Hip Hop royalty will bless a stretch of the Hollywood Walk of Fame today, as Jersey’s own Queen Latifah is scheduled to receive a star on the famed boulevard. Today’s ceremony begins at 11:30 a.m. in front of the historic Grauman’s Chinese Theatre (6915 Hollywood Blvd.). The rapper-turned-actress, whose real name is Dana Owens, received an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actress, a Golden Globe nomination and a SAG Award nomination for her role as Mama Morton in Miramax’s “Chicago.” 

       *Snoop Dogg, Ludacris and Billy Joel were among the celebs at Jamie Foxx’s New Year’s Eve shindig in South Beach, Florida. The “Ray” Oscar-winner held court poolside at the Delano hotel at the exclusive affair, which reportedly cost us regular folk $500 a pop to get in.

       *O.G. rapper and “Law & Order: SVU” star Ice-T will be on hand at the Electronics Industry Show in Las Vegas today to help launch the world's first public demo of a high definition music video played with seven channels of high definition surround sound audio. DTS-HD Master Audio is considered a key part of the next generation DVD formats (HD DVD and Blu-ray). Ice and legendary session drummer Omar Hakim will make a 4 p.m. appearance at the CES Suite # N242 inside the Las Vegas Convention Center to discuss how the next generation high definition audio/video will affect the future of music.     

      *Steve Harvey has teamed up with LA Weight Loss Centers to shed a few pounds and is giving his listeners a chance to do the same with the "Brand New You Weight Loss Challenge." The promotion kicked off Monday (Jan. 2) on Harvey's morning radio show with a call out to participants in five of his 13 affiliate markets. Twenty-five listeners from across the country will be given the opportunity to join Harvey in this weight loss challenge and to win a grand prize of $10,000. The challenge will follow the progress of Harvey and lucky listeners from New York, Detroit, Philadelphia, Chicago, Kansas City, Los Angeles and the Washington, D.C. area.

      *An album release party for acclaimed soul group Mr. Jazz & Soulmatik will be held in Santa Monica, CA tonight at the Temple Bar (1026 Wilshire Blvd.). The group will perform live before a celeb-filled audience, including invited guests Rafael Saadiq, Shemar Moore, Karl Kani and Medusa. Soulmatik consists of accomplished musicians Demetrius "D" Martin (drums), Jonsamir "So Lo" Jackson (keys), Jason "J-Lime" Dees (keys and percussion), Freddy Mofett (keys), Rave (guitar), Jeanine "Nina" Mc Coy, Felicia "FiFi" Baker and Sylvia "Sylver" Jackson on vocals.  The show starts at 10 p.m.
